Birds from 1971
Last spring, I took a break from writing songs to create a composition based on a tape recording of birds that I received a couple of years ago.
The recording was made in Koksijde in 1971 by the late Jozef Bruggeman and features around 14 birds. While I was just planning on converting the tape to digital format for Jozef’s son, I noticed the tape was in reverse. I decided to add layers of instruments on top of it and found this “collage” interesting, so I decided to further develop it.
I have always loved making these melancholic instrumentals for myself or sometimes for various video projects, so I thought maybe it was time to share these more often.
This will be my first release under my own name but was also meant as an experiment that could also influence future Bag of Sun releases.
