  • Air Jordans retail and resell at higher prices than the average basketball sneaker. The high prices come from how the company makes and markets its iconic sneakers. The brand has a rich history, and its Air Jordan 1 is widely credited as the catalyst for sneaker-culture.

I love how the myth of the Air Jordan 1 continues so that even Business Insider believes it. The NBA did not ban his shoe. They banned the black and red colorway because it violated their policy. After receiving a warning, Jordan wore AJ1s that were mostly white and did not violate the NBA policy. So no fine was paid because no rule was broken. He only wore the red and black shoes in two pre-season games and in the dunk contest and he was given a warning after those events, and never fined.

I have the air jordans 1 red and the quality is good and the shoe shows good quality after a long time. NBA didnt ban the black and red air jordans one, they meant it to be Michaels old air nike shoes which the colour looks exactly like it. Nike also mistook it and thought it was banned because the NBA never stated which model they were referring to. Thats also why the first air jordans one was black and red, to match micheal jordans old air nike black and red shoe and to also match the chicago bulls theme. Idk if thats true but i found it on another video.

It’s the hype, history, and the brand name. Jordans are a piece of history that everyone wants, especially the OG colourways that Jordan played in. When something is so wanted, price is bound to go up. When it’s limited, it’s bound to go up. It’s all about supply and demand. For me, I have a lot of shoes, and most are Jordans. I don’t really overpay, especially those high high prices. I but what I like and what I admire the history of.

I'm from Belgium (and well Belgium is a really small country), that said i was in the city on saturday (city named Hasselt) and bc my daughter & i love sneakers our eyes were constantly towards the ground looking at footwear, and 8/10 youngers were wearing the Jordan 1s (most i saw were the green with black&white , 2th i saw the most the red ones & 3th the light with dark blue)
And now there is finaly a store in Belgium (in #hasselt) where a young guy opend HYMPALA where i could finaly see & feel a Jordan in my hands. Before i only saw on webshops & insta etc..
He also sells some of the collabs with OFF-WHITE & Supreme.
So now i have 4months to save for a pair for my daughters birthday & no i'm not in no way buy her a shoe from 400 & more
She s still growing & money doesn't grow on my back.
But 200 i just can justefy in my head & wallet

The reason the resale prices are so high is because people have marketed on it knowing that people want them but can't find them because resellers buy them by the trunk load and there's no limit as to how many pairs you can buy therefore causing the actual company to charge more and flood the market with o many pairs to keep up with if they can find a way to slow down or even stop the reseller market period and prevent them from asking for ridiculous prices to a shoe that costed them 200 dollars then maybe the company can thrive and people can be happy knowing they can purchase a pair of sneakers at retail without the worry of a reseller buying out the store
