Hey everyone! Hope you liked the podcast. I have been informed that there is an audio glitch around the 30 minute mark, so apologies for that. Hopefully the rest is smooth.
Defunctland, is Michael Eisner going to be a guest on the podcast? That would be so great!
Omg 😲 The creator of Discovery land and Space Mountain from Earth to the Moon of Disneyland Paris!!! So happy 😁.
DUDE, I'M ON CRACK OVER HERE!!!
You really outdid yourself with this, man.
Defunctland WOULD YOU PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT THE WATER PARK/AMUSEMENT PARK CALLED GALAXY LAND AT WEST EDMONTON MALL IN EDMONTON ALBERTA CANADA ? IT USED TO BE THE BIGGEST MALL IN THE WORLD BACK IN THE 80’s. Please I live in Edmonton and I used to go there as a kid all the time. I live 10 minuetes from this mall i would absolutely love a video from you about it. It has a huge amusement park and a very big indoor water park one of the biggest ones in the world in the 80’s.
vfvv
Welp, I guess this means you just need to get Michael Eisner on, and your channel will be set forever.
That Man .Over There I wonder if he would, guys that have gotten that deep into Fortune 500s are not allowed to pull back the curtain.
I would love to hear his side of it and just for him to get his day because he saved Disney. He may have made huge mistakes but my god he enable these great people and company to modernize.
Yes
that would be AMAZING. and ask him the tough questions
Paul Pressler too. It would help make up for KP short-changing him.
Lol
I love how excited Kevin gets when he keeps getting such awesome, influential people on the podcast. I love how much this channel is growing and im so proud! Ahh
Even Jenny Nicholson?
jacoblgames She held a good conversation with Kevin :)
+Malorie Nicole But how is she influential? She seems to be a very average CZcamsr. Very plain.
jacoblgames I posted this before he had her on a podcast. All that matters is that Kevin keeps having people on his podcast that carry conversation and talk about interesting topics. She might be "an average youtuber" but her podcast with Kevin was fun and creative
+Marie Nicole Sounds like she's no more influential than you or I.
“So if you could just tell me ALL of it that would be great” hilarious first question 😂
Great job and great interview!
The gag is he really did tho. I think Kevin asked three questions.
♥
For someone like me who is really interested in the creative process behind theme park attractions, this was really awesome Kevin. Keep up the good work, you have no doubt changed theme park content on youtube for the better.
I’m an industrial design student at college and I’d love to become an imagineer. This episode means a lot to me man!
It's so amazing how you get to have these incredible people on your podcast. Hearing their stories give me hope that one day I could possibly be in their place.
Even Jenny Nicholson? She seems like an average CZcamsr.
Absolutely on cloud 9 listening to this. Tim's design sketches take me back to that era of 80's retro-futurism. I plan on buying some of these prints to hang on my walls. Kev, you and the defunctland crew struck gold yet again
What?! So cool you could get him on the Podcast!
Wow, congrats on getting Tim! Lots of interesting first hand info here. It's amazing hearing it from the man himself! Keep up the good work
This is amazing. I was not expecting to get more Euro Disney tea today
What a great guest! Personally I wish they called it Discovery Mountain because then it would have been separated from the space mountain identity and then Disney would have been reluctant too re-theme it years later
This man sounds like such a fantastic human being. I've unfortunately never been to any theme park in my life, but I'm grateful he got to make the astounding and wondrous contributions that he did, and may continue to make.
The Arr-cade which was on the Dream and Fantasy were removed and replaced with upscale gelato shops themed to Wreck it Ralph "Venelope's Von Sweets" and "Sweet on you" which is a Mickey themed shop sharing the aesthetic of Mickey's Runaway Railroad
You had an interview with Tim Delaney?
I need to pay far more attention to this channel

My grandmother actually worked as a consultant for Tomorrow Land after she worked for NASA! She says the worst day was when she walked on to a beautiful set and had to inform them it need to be chopped up because they forgot windows.
it feels so great getting here so early. loving this podcast so far!!!
thanks a lot for this awesome chance to hear from a designer !
Just wanted to say that i love these podcasts!
A show about Visionarium would be great! I never got to experience it nor the one that was in Florida.
The Man, The Myth, The Legend!!!
Man congrats on getting Tim on the show! You have come light years ahead of season 1!!! Keep up the bad-ass work!
The (relative) low amount of views on this is depressing, this is my favorite video you've ever done.
This was fantastic to listen to. He’s a humble person who doesn’t forget his roots and genuinely enjoys what he’s talking about, which is great. Defunctland continues to reach new heights!
Theme parks, especially Disney have always been a huge interest for me.
After years of watching ride deep dives and being exposed to Tim's concept art that would lit up my brain. His art has come to influence my own immensely.
Whoa edited “down”?! Awesome. Love this channel! Support it on Patreon everybody!!
Pre-Eisner Disney: Lazy and traditional
Eisner Disney: Obsessive-Compulsive and Anxiety inducing
Fantastic work Kevin. This is the first podcast of your's i've listened to. This was a great addition to your channel.
Amazing work Kevin! This is a HUGE 'get' and another big step for the show.
Thanks for all the content man, LOVE your work!
I didn't expect to listen to the whole thing (only found Defunctland 2 hours ago) but here I am, and now I want more 😂
This was a great podcast. What a wonderful man Tim is. I could listen to his anecdotes all day.
I'm so excited!!! This is the only thing that's saving me from going crazy because of finals, keep up the good work!!!!!!!
I love these!!
Keep Up Your Great Work!!
ALSO
Im building a Defunctland in RCT3
I love the way that Tim talks, the speed and enthusiastic nature of his speech makes him a dream to listen to, you can tell his genius from that alone.
Thank you so much for this interview to you both, very insightful and satisfying to hear how the legendary, grandios and save Disney rides came together.
He and Tony Baxter saved Euro Disney!
Thank you for this video, Kevin! It was very interesting to hear Mr. Delaney speak upon his days in Imagineering. Honestly one of the best things to happen today. 👌
Such a great interview to document more of the history behind these attractions. I thoroughly enjoyed this
And another big thank you for touching on what may well have been the best attraction ever, it's especially amazing to hear about it from the key man behind it himself. Looking forward to more amazing content from you.
This interview is fantastic, insightful, and just what I needed this evening. I know Walt liked to walk around and see everything that was going on and check in with people it’s cool to see others who followed in his steps.
What a wonderful interview. Hearing Mr. Delaney's insights and stories was truly a treat! Thanks for all your hard work.
An absolutely fascinating interview from start to finish. Thanks for doing this & using so much of the background knowledge you have!
So much fun watching this channel grow! Great guest, great episode!
I wish Tim had a book...
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this interview - really fascinating to hear about the process and that Tim didn't shy away from the budget aspect and how that is just a given and you have to design to it. Favorite part was when he asked if you wanted to hear his George Lucas story ... like, um, yeah we want to hear it!!!!
Enjoyed every second of this podcast! Thank you so much!! This was amazing!
Great interview! I could listen to him rattle on stories about this for hours!
This ... was fantastic! Thank you :-D
Awesome interview and being able to bring stories that other wise would maybe have never been heard.
This was fantastic. Thank you for everything Kevin!
What a great interview! I absolutely love (Hyper) Space Mountain, and I recently visited DisneyLand Paris to check out all the amazing creations over there! Wicked cool stuff!
Awesome podcast man! I love it!
Could you make a video on the history of the Disney sing along songs series and how parts were filmed in disneyland? Keep up the amazing work, love your channel and have been telling my friends about it! :)
Great interview! You let him talk- really fascinating!
Watching through the archive, and my jaw just about hit my desk when I realized who Tim was (bad at name association). Holy crap!
his intention to have Disneyland's Space Mountain changed during refurb had some appeal.
load earlier, with track outside and a launch, full mountain for "space",
I'd still be down. And. restore OG entrance ramps. and the PeopleMover.
This guy is a genius, incredibly honest too.
I have seen only one or two videos of yours, but I am loving it already! (Didn't want to write "first") 😛
Mart So Kevin is fantastic and there’s not one video on his channel i don’t love. glad to see you’re already hooked!!
Up next is Baxter!
I wish he could talk about Paradise Pier and the old DCA! And the other parks.
This was so interesting!!! I put it on while I did some house work and found myself enraptured by Mr. Delaney's anecdotes
Awesome interview.
Awesome interview
Congrads on getting verified! Idk what the criteria are, but the check mark looks all official. Way to go, Kev!
i need more
The walkway in space mountain to see the ride has been closed to bring the fast pass entrance.
Another + for putting the podcasts on Spotify iTunes or even SoundCloud for the ability to listen in the background on iOS
Sounds like you left in an odd little editing flub at 31:17
Good catch, must of been a phantom audio piece that I missed
How did I miss this
WOULD YOU PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT THE WATER PARK/AMUSEMENT PARK CALLED GALAXY LAND AT WEST EDMONTON MALL IN EDMONTON ALBERTA CANADA ? IT USED TO BE THE BIGGEST MALL IN THE WORLD BACK IN THE 80’s. Please I live in Edmonton and I used to go there as a kid all the time. I live 10 minuetes from this mall i would absolutely love a video from you about it. It has a huge amusement park and a very big indoor water park one of the biggest ones in the world in the 80’s.
Pretty slick
I really do miss the original mission to the moon. I remember riding it as a kid and each time saying hi to “manneke maan” (the smiling moon) as we’d inch towards it during the ride. The interior walkway has been covered up, so you can’t see into the dome anymore, but you can still hear the rollercoaster itself. It’s still an amazing ride, but there’s no denying that the original voyage made for a more cohesive story than the current Hyperspace Mountain overlay. I’m wondering what will happen when they remove the temporary Star Wars overlay...
We're still allowed to dream right...? The original was among the best attractions in the world easily. The whole athmosphere was so dense, especially with the views into the dome and the trains passing by like comets. The soundtrack still gives me the shivers.
Brilliant question at the 15:00 mark.
Would love to know what happened to the Star Trek simulator of the early 90s if it’s still running anywhere???
Sounds like the IP-ification of the Disney Parks is partly due to the Imagineers themselves, or at least Tony Baxter. I wonder if there will be a Defunctland episode on the Starcade. Despite not being officially defunct, according to Yesterland, for all intents and purposes, it certainly is. I hope that a future guest on the podcast will be someone from Disney Interactive (RIP). So what does Tim Delaney think of the direction that the Disney Parks are heading in now? Especially Disneyland itself with adding a whole land dedicated to an IP.
I could tell Tim was really confused by how into this Kevin was, but hey, if you were to tell me a little over a year ago that I'll be obsessed with out-of-commission amusement park rides, I would be perplexed as well. Been subscribed for a year, and I'm proud of you dude.
Haha he didn’t seem confused. I think he understood what he was getting himself into.
1:12:52 I tried looking up this special on CZcams and couldn’t find it. Anyone know where I might be able to watch it?
Update: I have found the documentary. Here’s a link for those curious: czcams.com/video/mz0MjVe3R1I/video.html
I know it's a big ask and probably will never happen but it would be cool if you could get Michael eisner on the podcast someone like him or close to his role at the time it would be interesting to get into his mind and see what he was thinking 😅😅 probably wont happen but would be awesome
Suggestion: Boblo Island
How are you Kevin?

Hope you don't mind me doing some shameles plugs kevin

I actully want to imagineer i am 10 years old my name is yanma and i want you to interview me plz
do u ask questions or does this guy just monologue the entire time? 😴😴😴😴
DCA should not be Pixar.
Well, now Space Mountain is just a rolling pile of garbage.
Amazing interview! Loved hearing Mr Delaney's stories and history, and especially his quick Michael Eisner impression. haha
Thanks for all the great stuff!
