    In your case it might have been possible to speed up the process quite a bit 🙂 a visit at the municipality office, in person, explain the situation (just moving into the area, have a job, please help)
    Hope you and your family settle in well 💚 and you all feal welcome.

    I had my children in a family home/childminder (do not know the right Word i English) their early years, even that through the municipality. Five kids in someones home. They met up in parks with other ”dagmammor” and kids the day, met up in inside activity with the others once a week, went to museums, beaches, other trips. But spend most of the time in the home. The Carver was an educated preschoolteacher. Same price as preschool. A good alternative.

    I think It is still a max fee that is around 1500kr/month for first child and around 1000kr/month for second child. If you have low income it is cheaper. And you pay for 12 month even if you have 1 month vacation. (You pay for your spot).

    It's a very informative video about how to go about finding a kindergarden in Sweden,thanks! I'd also like to know how your kid copes in the Swedish kindergarden. How much of a problem is the language barrier?

    • @LivingSwedish
      @LivingSwedish  Před 2 lety +9

      I'm sure every child is different but I'm very happy that there were no issues with the language at all. She just turned 3 years old and I think it's a great age. She learned Swedish in no time and because she doesn't understand everything in English or German either she just accepted that she didn't understand everything in Swedish at the beginning. 3-4 months later and she speaks Swedish all the time at kindergarten and even when she plays by herself alone at home. Kindergarten told me that she has picked up the language in no time and is very happy.

    Hi! I know this video is a little bit old, but just in it you told that at the beguining in Sweden you was working remotely with a UK company. We are going to move to Sweden, I have a job contract but my husband would like to work remotely to his spanish company . Can you give me some advice? Is this feasible? Thank you very much!!

    • @LivingSwedish

      There are several options. His company can register a branch in Sweden and therefore pays taxes in Sweden. He can set up his own company in Sweden and then invoices his company (AB or Enskild firma). Or he can sign up with a freelance company which does everything for you and they take a percentage (Frilans Finans or Cool Company).

    Hi I just wanna ask, what language they're using in kindergarten for the kids? Is it Swedish and English? Or just Swedish only? Thanks

    • @LivingSwedish
      @LivingSwedish  Před 2 lety

      Most kindergartens only speak Swedish. But there are "special" kindergartens which also teach or speak English. They aren't more expensive but it's possible that there is a bigger queue to get into or you have to travel further depending on where you live. Our daughter goes to a Swedish preschool and she has learned Swedish in no time. At home, we speak English and German so she can understand and speak 3 languages now.

      Hi there! It really depends on where you live in Sweden. Once you have a permanent place of residence you can find out where to apply for kindergarten. There is not only one place for Sweden, I'm afraid. But it's fairly easy, once you know where you live 😊

    Thank you sweet mama! You are the best! One question tho, if you know, how do you prove you need the time to work if you are freelancer, but not working for a company, for example making money from CZcams, Twitch, Fiverr etc? Thank you again!

    • @tompao7832
      @tompao7832 Před 2 lety

      @ lora dawn If you are working as a serious freelancer you will probably have some sort of registered company of your own ("enskild firma", "aktiebolag" etc), that will show that you are working. If you are so stupid that you do it another way you can show that you are paying income tax, thereby indicating that you are actually working. If you are working without paying taxes you should I think it´s fair enough that you don´t get public daycare - but you can always have a unqualified russian nanny taking care of your child...

      @@tompao7832 No need to be rude here. I don't know how I've deserved to be called stupid. I never made it to make money from something like that, but I was just asking because you never know. I just don't know why the hate...

      Thanks for the kind feedback! I'm not 100% sure but I would definitely recommend calling Försäkringskassan and ask them what kind of proof they would need. It's possible that you can show invoices/contracts at least from Fiverr I imagine. That would be quite interesting for me too since I'm working on different income streams as well. I might call them up and ask to see what they say :)

    I myself did not like kindergarten as a child, so my mother used a child minder (?) for my sake. I don't know how it is today. For most kids, kindergarten is a nice place for the children in case of social interaction, security and so on. Take care.

    • @LivingSwedish
      @LivingSwedish  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeh, I think every child is different. And if my daughter wouldn't like it I would also try to find another way. Did you enjoy being with the child minder as a child?

      @@LivingSwedish When I was a kid, it was run through the municipality (kommunen). I tried to find information, but not the easiest. I found this: "Family daycare is a form of childcare and early childhood education where care is provided by a day care worker, or in more mundane terms day care, day care or day parent. The carer receives the children in his home during the time when the parents are working or undergoing education."

    • @Billy-Box
      @Billy-Box Před 2 lety

      And furthermore: "On 1 July 2009, the concept of family daycare was replaced by educational care in the School Act. Pedagogical care also includes other alternatives to preschools and after-school centres run in external premises, such as companies or by several families who take turns.
      In 2016-2020, the number of family daycare centres in Sweden decreased, not least in Stockholm County."

      @@LivingSwedish Her name was Ulla, and yes, I loved her. :-) She was really kind and nice. If I remember correctly, we were about 3-4 children, including her own daughter. But I suspect it's harder today, is other times. Sweden has more developed towards by far the most offering children's cottages ("barnstugor" eller "dagis".)

    • @Billy-Box
      @Billy-Box Před 2 lety

      There may be private options. In my day, there was no such thing. Check it out with your muncipality (kommunen).

    It sounds like they don’t start formal school until age 7, so if you’re not a working parent do you only get part time care until then?

    • @LivingSwedish
      @LivingSwedish  Před rokem +1

      I tried to look for an answer but I couldn't find the perfect one. You're usually entitled for 15 hours of preschool after your child turns 3 years old no matter what. I would get in touch with the municipality where you live and ask.

    Thanks, a great explanation!
    I think that Sweden and Germany shares a lot of culture, traditions and kind of the same wealt care system?
    I think that Germany have a better healt care system,. but we excell in on our kindergarden system?
    Some say its about gender equality, thats only one part of it, its rather this, Sweden is a big country and a small population, we need to use all the best minds in our workforce, to stay at top! Gender equality comes as a result of this.. then we got a female Prime minister at last, exactly 100 years after female voting rights.. it cant be an coinsidense?
    And then again, my best tip, go to Skatteverket and register as living in Sweden, as soon as posibly.
    Becuse then our govermental/comunity/healt care autoritys know that you live here and they have to provide you and your family there services.
