People from Nevada and the states around it tend to pronounce it "neh-VAD-uh" with a short "a" sound rather than an "ah" sound. Great video though. New Mexico is actually quite cold most of the time. Perfect pronunciation of Oregon by the way.

@@timewarpdrive77 Agreed. Anyone who argues "ne-VOD-uh" must be the correct pronunciation because "that's how it's said in the original Spanish" needs to also 'correct' their pronunciation of Florida, Colorado, California, Montaña, Tejas and any other state named by the Spaniards. XD

Are you aware of the Civil War? Originally, West Virginia was part of Virginia. When Virginia seceded from the Union in 1861, the mountaineers in the West were not happy. They met in Wheeling, declared that they were the legitimate government of Virignia, and passed a resolution dividing the state in two, the State of Virginia and the State of West Virginia. Congress consented to the division. After the Civil War was over, the State of Virginia objected to the division, but the United States Supreme Court ruled otherwise. Okay, said Virginia, but then West Virginia needs to pay its share of the public debt as it existed in 1861. That litigation was not resolved until 1915. West Virginia finally paid the debt off in 1939. All this might explain why West Virginia is one of the poorest regions in the country.

One thing I notice with US tourists coming to the UK is that they pronounce the "shire" in counties like Cheshire, Derbyshire, Worcestershire etc like "sheer" or "shire", but they always get Hampshire correct; now I know why! (The "shire" part is always supposed to be pronounced like New Hampshire). Oh, and by the way, Debyshire is DArby-shur, and Worcestershire is Wooster-shur (oo as in book), just for reference.

Come visit Nevada! It's a different landscape and it's not humid here. I live in Reno though so you might only get to visit Las Vegas cause it's the more popular city. But Las Vegas is in Southern Nevada and it's very different from Northern Nevada. We have snow-capped mountains, pine tree forests and Lake Tahoe up north 😉

I've been to California, Nevada, Florida as well as New York states. I've also visited Washington D.C once but I wasn't sure which state it was supposed to be. It seems quite confusing between capital Washington DC and Washington state. Because as I know, Washington state is located on the west coast of America whilst DC is on the east. I've been looking forward visiting Alaska by cruise ship from Vancouver or Seattle someday.

At least this guy didn’t say O-ree-gawn. Usually done by those who mispronounce Colorado with “raw” and Nevada with “vaw”.
But locals say Or-gun. Very little to no middle syllable by the locals.
