I’ve had gout for 30 years, foot, all areas of the foot, ankle, knee, shoulder and hand. I’ve had kidney stones at the same time of gout. I eat super clean and my uric acid levels stay around 9 to 13 with medication, gout runs in my family.

Thank you for the video. I have been having gout and kidney stone attacks for last 16 years and i am 36. I did not count, but I probably had at least 30-40 kidney stone attacks till now. It's the worst pain. As for the gout, I can't describe how negatively it affected my life, it makes me basically passive and unwilling to walk. It used to appear only on my big toe, but nowadays I get it anywhere in my foot, knee, sometimes even lower spine, elbow. I also get headaches sometimes because of gout. I have been overweight for last 13 years, I guess it affects a lot.

Also if you have health insurance or the money there is a type of procedure that gets rid of kidney stones without them cutting into you and they use some kind of laser that breaks up the stones and flushes them out through the urethra but I can't think of what it's called but my sister had it done as she had over 14 kids and some of them were large

I got gout in the big toe at 33 years of age I’m slightly overweight but in healthy shape. Most painful thing I ever had. The pain only lasted about 4 days with some slight pain after 4 days. The swelling and redness took a good 2 weeks to clear up. I was able to put on socks and my shoes after 10 days. I know it was sugar that caused my gout I cut out the sugar drinks and have been drinking more water tea and milk and I haven’t had an attack for a long while now.

Just been to the doctor today for having bad pain all over in my joints. One day is hips and toes and back, other days the pain is everywhere, somedays it goes in my wrists, elbows and shoulders etc. The doctor told me today that it must be my brain that is making up pain.
This video gave me light into why my pain has increased lately. For almost a whole year I gave up chicken meat, beef and porc which I substituted it with seafood. That is for 11 months straight of seafood and alcohol. No wonder I have joints pain, the uric acid level must be through the roof.
Next week I'll find out my extensive blood work results and I wonder if they check for uric acid.
Thank you so much for making this video!

Dr. Girnita, Thanks for your video.
I have had Psoriatic Arthritis for many years and have been taking Methotrexate for many years as well. I had my first gout attack 3 weeks ago at my right ankle after having dined at a seafood buffet and drinking 2 alcoholic drinks. The next morning- OUCH!
I went to my PCP and he was 90% sure I had gout and prescribed Prednisone. That lessened the pain but swelling still there.
My Rhuem doc routine appointment was the next week. Blood test showed my uric acid was 6 (high on the normal scale) which surprised him- he thought it would be much higher. He prescribed Colchicine. Pain is slowly abating as well as the swelling- it has been three weeks since attack. Can't wait until the gout goes away.
Question- I have been reading about foods to avoid when having gout. With the medication, should I still stay away from the trigger foods?

  • @meshiu2344

Played with a remedy over the years. I use to get gout pretty bad from the age of 25-30. Sometimes I would have back to back flare ups. I'm 35 now and have not had a flare up in 5 years. There were a few things that would trigger the flare up for me, like beer, processed foods with sugar mainly and juice (like Sunny D) while I live an active healthy lifestyle I like a cold beer from time to time. Nothing has pierced this remedy in these 5 years except this one instant where I drank some fruit juice and felt the initial sting of a flare up a few hours later and all I had to do was make one of these remedy's with a little extra ingredients added and it fried it dead in it's tracks. It's 2 teaspoons of Apple cider vinegar, two teaspoons of lemon juice, and half a teaspoon of baking soda. Mix that in a cup of water and take it 1-2 times a week and it will kill your gout for good. If you're experiencing an active flare up make it three of Apple cider Vinegar, 4 of lemon juice and one in half teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of water and it will go away in a day or two.

I was dismayed to find that Dr. Girnita's CZcams post did not address key questions about gout. The first question is why has it been found that many gout patients die prematurely, even if their gout flares are well-controlled by diet and medication. Hyperuricemia, which is an excessively high concentration of uric acid in the blood, is a necessary and causal condition for gout to occur. So the second question is what causes hyperuricemia? These two questions need to be answered in a truly informative discussion about gout and its effective treatment.
The cause of most hyperuricemia and gout is the frequent prolonged episodes of lack of breathing with lack of oxygen during sleep, known as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which is grossly underdiagnosed and is why most gout flares start during sleep. The episodes of reduced oxygen cause every cell in the body to abruptly produce excess uric acid, as well as slow its removal by reduced kidney function. This physiology leads to hyperuricemia (possibly only during sleep), and its precipitation as the urate crystals which cause a gout flare. If OSA continues for too long, it will lead to many life-threatening diseases considered to be comorbities of gout (eg. cardiovascular diseases, stroke, hypertension, kidney disease, diabetes, cancer) and premature death, which has also been found to occur in gout patients, whether or not their flares are well controlled by diet and medication. Resolving OSA early enough will greatly reduce the risk for developing these diseases, and will prevent further overnight gout flares. It's not a rheumatologist, but a sleep physician to consult to get tested for OSA, and then follow strictly the recommended procedure to resolve it.
Hyperuricemia and gout are early warning alarm signals of OSA. It is a mistake to regard them as independent diseases. Usually, they are only symptoms of the systemic disease of OSA. Rheumatologists treat only the symptoms.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's important to remember that setbacks are temporary and you can always work to improve your skills.

@@yolandaphillips3719 I was the main skateboard filmer in my city. I can’t take part in those activities anymore. I’m hoping I can cure it because just texting your friends doesn’t cut it for me

I'm having a very bad attack at the moment. I've been in absolute pain. What I don't get it's the first time in over three years. I've really cut down on beer and lost weight in that time. Maybe it's the blood pressure meds

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. It must be quite challenging after three years of relief.

Hi I think I have gout in my left ankle only. It is strange I can go one day from being basically crippled and cannot put weight on that left foot at all and I cannot walk without crutches or crawling lol. But when it goes away I suddenly am back to normal and I am an athlete and I can go back to box jumping or squatting as if nothing ever happened at all. This can randomly come and go 😢
