Putin can't get past Ukraine, and, as Times Radio has repeatedly reported since the conflict began, his regime is about to completely collapse any day now. So what makes you think he can do anything to invade the rest of Europe, given that the French and British armed forces combined are larger, and to mention the rest of Europe, which would be immediately mobilised to deal with him? If anything, yours is an argument for Europe to be responsible for its own defence instead of expecting the hard hit American taxpayer to do all that for us.

What an extraordinary career Ambassador Pickering has had and anything I would say to his assessments of the world's top players and dangerous situations could never come close to being in the same league as him, but I think George Galloway in his interview with Piers Morgan the other day shone a light on what is the only solution in the middle east. Galloway said the path to peace in the middle east is not a two-state solution between the Palestinians and Israel, but a move to take down borders and for everyone to live together, Palestinians and Israelis alike, and share the land and cultures. He of course added that this would not be without difficulty due to the 7 October massacre of Israelis in 2023, but isn't it really the only way to go for the people of the region? A united region where borders do not exist would allow all people to live in peace. As for Biden, of course Uncle Joe will insist on carrying the torch all the way to the American election for the sole purpose of crossing the finish line first in front of Trump, because the whole world knows a second Trump presidency would sink the world order into chaos in its first 100 days or less. The trouble is of course that Biden's 'career ending' performance in the debate is his Achille’s heel, his Titanic moment and the first trumpet sounds in the swansong of his political life. But this is a good thing, because what Biden showed Americans and the world writ large is that you can do and say just about anything you want when you are an American president, but you cannot show clear signs of cognitive disorder i.e., dementia visible to all and everyone who is not a mental health specialist or a medical doctor. The good news is that a new person will be on the Democratic ticket and be the right man or woman for the job.

Avoiding war with Russia is very important to Americans, especially when it can be presumed that they will be the ones expected to pay for it, provide most of the arms, and most likely fight it as well. Trump's commitment to peace and to the idea of dealing with conflicts in a civilized manner is a major reason he's become so popular. Americans know that he genuinely cares about the lives of American soldiers and doesn't want them fighting in a war. While Biden loves war and doesn't care about the lives of those who die.
But just because the Americans make peace with Russia doesn't mean that the UK has to. Or France or Germany or Poland. Each country is responsible for its own decisions and its own security. If the Brits want to keep on fighting then that's their choice. Just as long as they are prepared to pay for it all themselves and can provide the arms necessary and troops to do the fighting. But they must understand that they can't expect Americans to come to their rescue if things go south.
