Vs all other teams , NA is not favored if we look at this historically , so even in the best case scenario , they at most can draft 1 team that they are favored into , and the other 2 teams are still fucked

People haven't talked about how hype the 2nd Round is going to be if things go as expected.
All the 1-0 teams should be LCK/LPL with either C9/MAD.
And then the 0-1 teams should be EU/NA with either KT/BLG.
So for the 2nd Round, we should be getting LCK vs LPL and a lot of EU vs NA matchups hopefully.
The bad scenario would be a bunch of LPL vs LPL matchups with LCK vs LCK matchups. At least if that happens in round 2, it is more likely for there to be LCK vs LPL matches for all the following rounds.

To be fair it’s been 12 years, and almost every year without fail there’s always one good group that gives NA a pretty good chance of getting out, and either NA doesn’t get it, or the 3rd/4th seed team ends up getting it and predictably chokes it lol

What’s ironic is this format is better at rewarding better teams and forcing teams to prove that they are better by playing better teams instead of getting cheesed for a game
And yet this actually hurts the chances of a western team making it to quarters lmao
As a western team, there is a decently high chance you can get out of swiss without beating a single LCK or LPL team.
Someone on reddit actually did the math and it turns out that even if the west wins 0 times against any of LCK or LPL, there is still a higher chance of a western team getting out than with the groups system. The person on reddit did a bunch of simulations and assumed that that EU and NA teams would have a 0% winrate against any of LPL and LCK teams and one western team still got out 64.5% of the time, 2 got out 1% of the time and 3 got out 0..00008% of the time. There is a more than 50% chance an NA or EU team could get out even with a 0% winrate against LPL or LCK, which is nuts. If you change the odds of a western team winning against an eastern team, those odds would go up a lot.
Point is, this format is way way better for western teams.

Not really; it basically comes down to a few things: winners play against each other, losers play against each other. To advance to knockouts, a team needs 3 wins; to get eliminated, a team needs 3 losses. The graphic looks confusing, but the idea is simple.
