    Isn’t nursing for comfort as valid a need as nursing for hunger? Nursing to sleep is so natural and biologically normal. Whatever feels right for all though! Your fam is beautiful and you’re such a compassionate and sweet mom. Love how much you engage in play with Donovan.

      This was my thinking too, but my baby is now 13 months old and wakes up after every sleep cycle and has to be nursed back to sleep. Over a year with little sleep! I am not sure what to do now, but wished I had taught her how to fall asleep without the breast much earlier.

    Thank you for sharing a REAL day in the life. Makes us other moms feel normal that we aren’t doing it all. You are an amazing mom and I really admire your patience during moments when a lot is going on.

    This is making me sooooo happy. Your home and your heart are so full of love. I’ve followed you since D was born and I’m now a mama to an 8mo. The sweet snuggles with your daughter are taking me back ❤ (oh, watching from London, U.K. and would love to see anything you’re doing differently with your second vs things with did with D and are keeping in your toolbox)

    love your videos! They're so cozy and comforting. I would love more of these realistic videos of motherhood because lately I've been struggling with gentle parenting if regards to making sure I always say/do the "right" thing and feeling as if I fall short every time.

    I nursed my baby girl to sleep everytime and then eventually she would fall asleep then wake up as soon as I put her down as I was putting her down and eventually would just look at me and then I would stare at her and then she would just fall asleep. I strongly believe in the fed is best option and I think it’s good for baby’s mental health in the long run to nurse to sleep because then it supports less sleep interruptions in the later stages. I nursed my baby to sleep until she was 6 months old and she never woke back up just because. It is always a reason why usually it’s because she was still hungry or something was too loud and woke her up.

    Donovan talks like the kid I take care of. He’s also five and they look almost the exact same too. Holy cow the resemblance as a whole is uncanny. Long lost twins? 😂

      Honestly we do a whole bunch of things! This is just a little book we like to use during the summer time. It's called Brain Quest I think :) We also like to use our own "Something to Do" book to create activities and we have a subscription to Habitat Schoolhouse as well!

      Nursing to sleep works because it is biologically normal. If you have to fight an instinct then it's usually not the right thing to do. Also falling asleep by herself isn't a learnt skill it is a developmental milestone......your family is beautiful 😊

    • @themellowmama
      @themellowmama  Před 2 lety +4

      Yep! And although I shouldn’t assume that this comment comes from a place of judgement - I do. Interestingly enough, I kept this in this video for other parents to see what’s normal and how I respond. Although we don’t use threats or violence in our home, and we limit exposure to media that expressed the same, my son IS still exposed to that sort of thing from our friends’ children, from super hero things my parents have shown him, AND children unfortunately sometimes can’t process what’s happening below the surface for themselves and it results in hitting! Normal. Notice that not taking it personally, judging, shaming and labeling my child as “disrespectful, aggressive, bad, etc.” lead to such a wonderful, peaceful breakfast full of connection. I’m wise enough to know that THAT is the answer. Especially to something that is developmentally appropriate.

    New borns up I tilt he age of 6 months old need to sleep for that 3 hours every nap so I would strongly suggest letting her sleep in a separate room so she is not interrupted. I know it can be hard but it is scientifically proven that new borns need to sleep for that whole three hours each nap.
