Yeah. The ref clearly sees his hand on the ropes after the 3. I'm a little disappointed in that at the moment, because he could've restarted the match in kayfabe. But I'm waiting to see if they do anything with it next week. Maybe it was totally intentional.
Hopefully this will be the start of Ricky's ascend from upper midcard into the main event scene, and also the start of Punk's heel turn.

Ricky Starks absolutely deserves this win. Dude has put in the work and been helping carry AEW as one of the stars if the future. On a side note Ricky grabbing the rope and doing whatever it takes could mean something, maybe joining Bullet Club Gold or something else. Honestly hope that THQ-Nordic adds the Owen Hart Tournament and Championship Belt to AEW Fight Forever.

The ref obviously saw Starks holding onto the rope after he counted the pin.
Bit of a botch though as he never actually got the rope during the count.
The referee and punk sold that stolen finish angle perfectly. From counting with the referee for them both to get up to the reversals, these two delivered a believable fight.

@@GregBurch Yeah, the biggest star in the company, by far, loses clean to an incredibly talented but very young wrestler on regular tv for no rhyme or reason. Punk's shine has already rubbed off on Starks, now it'll depend on the booking to make sure he remains relevant. The only guy who could legitimately beat Punk was Joe. Also, Punk hasn't lost anything. Every match of his since the start if collision has been excellent. Kojima, Joe, the tag matches and this. All great matches unless you are already predisposed to disliking Punk's style of wrestling

That last press conference with Khan and the muffin shouldn't have been tolerated by management and since he knows he can get away with it, I doubt he refrains from behaving for too long.
