- Hey what's up everyone welcome back to the channel! Finally got my carbon fiber steering wheel from Carbontastic! Be careful if you guys intend to install any aftermarket steering wheel because the stock steering wheel can fly at your face(slow-mo added in video)! I think this is one of the upgrades to the car that makes a huge difference that you can feel. I'm loving this new steering wheel and I will make some reaction videos after a couple more mods! Thanks for stopping by and see you next week. Later!

Thanks for the videos Jeff
The trick is to disconnect all the connectors, loosen the 17 mm nut but you don't take it out all the way, keep it there and pull the steering wheel towards you and then remove the 17 mm nut.
Wish I knew that before hand hahaha thanks I wouldn't have thought of doing it that way 😂👍
@@JeffSongCars All good bro, don't stress about it. The steering wheel looks good though and I'm sure you can replace the clock spring.
Just a lil comment to help your videos, and us as viewers, perhaps have a flashlight handy so you can shine it into dark areas whilst trying to show us something. Thanks for making good videos of a cool car!😁👍🏻
Thanks for the support! I will definitely use a flashlight for those hard to see places now haha 👍
Nice steering wheel, I'm gonna look into getting one.
Love the steering wheel man
Thanks I took one in the forehead to get that steering wheel in haha :)
@@JeffSongCars had to get my friend to do mine 😂
I also ordered one for my Evo x on March 1. I can’t wait till I get mine. It really looks good man.
And yes it is pricey
Can't tell you how much this thing makes you love driving the evo! As another viewer suggested use the 17mm nut that's holding down the steering wheel and don't loosen it all the way then start pulling at the stock steering wheel. This will save you $90 for a new clock spring hahaha
@@JeffSongCars thanks for the advice I will definitely take my time installing my new steering wheel when it arrives.
is it only in US or you can buy from any countries?
You can buy it in any country realcarbontastic.com 👍
I'm very late to this post but ... Very nice steering wheel. Should not disconnect the positive terminal first though. Leaving the positive terminal on while installing the negative terminal can cause damage to the ECU/ECM and other sensitive electronics. Should disconnect the negative terminal first.
If you do make the mistake and disconnect the positive terminal first, be sure to also remove the negative terminal.
When reinstalling, install the positive terminal first, then the negative. Just saying 🙂
Which head unit is that? That's nice👍
@@dondada6496 Thanks I'm loving this steering wheel. That's very good information that I will definitely use in the future! The headunit is a tesla styled 12.1" screen. Nowadays I think there will be better ones on the market than the one I have but make sure to get the one with the most RAM and cores if you plan on going this route 👍
GOOD 👍👍👍
감사합니다 😁
Take the negative terminal off that way you don't have to worry about touching power to ground
Awesome thank you hahah 👍🏼
Great video man, now I want one! :D
I'm also looking to change my 8 year old battery, Do you have any problems with the one you have, and what brand is it?
Thank you! I actually changed my battery a couple of months ago to an Optima Red Top. The oem battery lasted for a while and I think the red top is actually a bit stronger, when I start the car it cranks a lot faster and starts harder... don't know if that's the right term hahah
Do you feel like you have more room for your knee with the flat bottom ? I wish the Evo had in and out adjustable for the wheel .
If there is I don't really think there is much of a difference, ill try to make a video of the difference in a week's time and maybe show the stock vs the aftermarket. Actually, ill make the comparison when I install the clockspring! Stay tuned haha👍
i got really shit carbon stuff (front fender)from maperformance something
hope This brand really make good quality and will buy one day
Yea I love how my steering wheel feels and it really makes the car feel more fun to drive. It takes time to modify a car so keep it up! 😁👍
You could have threaded the nut slightly and pulled, and the nut would stop you from pulling too far out. Easy trick to avoid bonking your head
Hahaha yea I figured out the hard way but hey lesson learned 🤣
Very nice but pricey, I wish there are more affordable options like for the WRX/STI CF steering wheels.
Thanks! Yea it was definitely pricey, looked around for alternatives but they either looked meh or were pricey like this. (ended up using my stimy on this hahah)
Sorry to hear about the clockspring! What are you planning on doing with the old steering wheel?
It's going to be a little but pricey to replace but hopefully someone can learn from my mistake! The old steering wheel I might keep it and put it on a wall or something haha 😄
Yeah I need those stickers, send em’ my way lol
Hahaha if you really want I can send them to you 🤣👍
@@JeffSongCars yes pls 😂
@@YourLocalChink Are you in socal? If you are we can meet up and I'll give em to you hahaha, if not message me your address and ill send them over haha
@@JeffSongCars yo dope!! I’m in Canada brother, hope thats not an issue 😅
Not and issue hahaha let me know where to send it 👍
JEFF! Same thing happened to me when I pulled the steering wheel out, how did you put the ribbon back in?? Any help would be appreciated please and thank you!!
I ended up getting a new clock spring from the stealership 🥲
Look amazing Steering wheel you have the link I want one
Hahah thank you very much, the steering wheel feels amazing as well! Here is the link to it:

👍
@@JeffSongCars thank you very much 🙏
How much is the package? Thinking the same upgrade..
At the time I bought it, it cost $1299. Kind of pricey and you might be able to find cheaper options nowadays haha. It definitely is worth the upgrade though just for the feel of the wheel 😄👍🏼
Yo where do you get that steering wheel
I got it from Carbontastic, it does have a really good feel to it while driving 👍🏼
hey man how's your holding? how do you maintain your CF from oxidation?
The carbon fiber wheel is holding up well! I love the feel of the steering wheel compared to the stock and I haven't done much to prevent oxidation because I think cf will always oxidize. the best way to stall that would be to keep a cover over the car and most of the time my car is in a garage, hopefully that helps but yea the only other way that I did for one of my CF parts was to completely grind down the clear coat and re apply a new layer 😁👍
ya I just had mine yesterday and was planning to ceramic coat it but my friends advice me not to put any thing slippery on my streering wheels, so I might just get some Swheel cover and probably some spray to maintain
Yea be careful of putting anything slippery on the steering wheel, don't want to get into an accident! One way might be to get one of those window cover things for the interior 🤔
@@JeffSongCars where are you located bro?
I'm in the LA and OC area
Where did you get your the head unit ?
I got it off Amazon from this link amzn.to/3wRgT3V
👍
Can you please make a video how you fix ur steering clock spring please.
Of course! I just bought the clock spring so I will be uploading the video in about 2-3 weeks 👍 I have 2 other videos I am working on right now so I will this weekend 😄
@@JeffSongCars Sounds good thanks I broke my too they aren’t no videos showing to fix it.
how*
I think the only way to actually fix it is to buy the part, I bought it from Mitsubishi for close to $90, stay tuned and thanks for the support 👍
Did you get any cel codes after the install
Oh yea definitely hahah. I broke the clock spring so I am getting an airbag light and a button on the steering wheel isn't working properly. Sometimes I'll get a awd service light as well so I'll let you know in a future video of what happens after I install a new clock spring
Cool thanks man and I can’t wait to see the video on the shifter install 👌👌
How's the size compared to oem
Size is about the same but definitely a lot thicker. I love the way it feels while driving 👍
Link to buy this?

It’s a really nice feeling steering wheel 👍🏼
Torque down the steering wheel nut
Oh didn’t realize it needed to be torqued! Thanks for letting me know 👍🏼
wait is your forehead okay lol
😭😭🤣 hahaha it was hurting for a bit all better now hahahah
How much did you pay?? In their site they want $1,400?? Is that what you paid??
Yea that is what I paid, I think there are other companies now that offer it for way less. I think I also have a defect in mine as well so…. Might be good to check out other companies 👍🏼
@@JeffSongCars where was the defect?
@@lbcitylacounty4982 The leather portion of the handle on the right side wasn't fully flushed and a bit of the leather is sticking out. It was supposed to be tucked behind the plastic but yea they didn't do quality control too well 🥲
