I think this game will be way more telling on our overall exhaustion than the weekend match told us. We were always going to struggle after playing 120 minutes a couple days prior.

Dont know which City team will show up; don't know which Brighton team will show up; don't know which Pep will show up in terms of tactics - if he continues with the ultra high line, I don't see how we win all our remaining games. Look back over the whole season and the 1 constant issue that we have had as been leaky defense and yet we have the same defensive personnel as last season and its not like all our defenders just turned poor and stayed poor all season. No. It's Pep's absurdly high line (higher than last season's) and it has cost us a lot of games in forcing defensive errors to now having the worst defense against the counter to already having conceded more goals this season with 6 games to go compared to the whole of each of the last 3 seasons.
That is a shocking indictment of his high line, and yet he persists with it. Why do it and when it has been the biggest issue for us and for which there is the most evidence that shows unequivocally that it is a major problem given the players we have? Pep's seemingly inability to see it or flat out refusal to adapt his high line, even when playing great counter attacking team, must be questioned. From Luton Town to Chelsea to COpenhagen to Real Madrid to Crystal Palace and everything in between, every team has gotten joy counter attacking our high line, and especially the flanks, and even with all the evidence, he does nothing and risks our season for what? Love Pep, but he is playing Russian roulette with our season with his insistence to play a super high line. Is there any reason he cant adapt it slightly? Bring is back a little like he did last season? I think it is a fair argument to make given how well we did no?

All we need is kdb and foden not starting in the center. Nunes or kovacic to pair with rodri since they are press resistant and brighton will press us. Doku coming in on 60th minute. Gvardiol in the defensive line. We play smart, we win.
Alvarez is a bit out of phase/form in the second half of the season.

He does'nt play #9 but rather adapts to the team's formation which eliminates that position but not releasing balls quickly to the Centre striker thereby rendering Halland useless of late

Really excited for the game and a chance to put our games in hand to good use! I'm feeling very confident going into this clash if I'm being honest, Brighton just aren't the same as last season, injuries are playing their part also. As for City I think the mental and physical fatigue were in full affect against Chelsea, but we dug deep and found a way to win! The team is well rested this time round and I have full faith the performance will be much improved, this is when we show why we are deserving of 4 leagues in a row!! We used to have back-ups like foden and mahrez ... now we have degraded to bobb and sergio gomez. Nunez and Kovacic are nowhere near Gundogan and Cole palmer.
It's so nervy going into the final stage where we need to up our game and give the best against sides that are trying to have us avoid the fourth epl in a row.
