"Though the origins of the rickshaw are not entirely clear, they seem to be Japanese, and of Tokyo specifically. The most widely accepted theory offers the name of three inventors and gives 1869 as the date of invention."

JE, let me give you a tip for your next ride. Nana Chan and Sumire Chan also speak English. Actually, I think Nana Chan is the best. But, if you want to ride with a guy just to be different you can go ask for Matsuo or Satoshi. You actually just passed him on your way to the rickshaw. He speaks English with an Aussie accent.
