Enjoying the wonderful cuisine of southern India at Abhiruchi Indian Restaurant in Vancouver, Washington.
Here's a list of the delicious food we had:
- Papadum (lentil crackers)
- Chutneys (mint, tomato, and coconut)
- Vegetable Samosas (pastry filled with potato and peas)
- Mixed Vegetable Pakora (battered and deep fried veggies)
- Plain Dosa (crepe made with fermented lentil flour)
- Thali Plate (basmati rice with dal, sambar, eggplant curry, and raita)
- Garlic Nan (tandoori oven cooked bread with garlic)
- Navaratan Koorma (mixed veggies cooked with cashew sauce)
- Aloo Saag (potato and spinach cooked with tomato and onions)
- Gulab Jamun (cooked wheat and milk balls with sugar syrup)

They usually give a Coconut Chutney along with Dosas in India. They're my favourite.
Hi P Master! This restaurant gives us the chutneys (coconut, coriander , and tomato) with the papadum. We only got sambar with the dosa.

Try sambar idli, sambar vada, paneer butter masala curry in roti, Nellore ghee karam dosa, kichidi, coconut rice, sambar rice, mushroom masala, mushroom pepper fry, paneer tikka, paneer 65, creamy mushroom soup, kadai veg curry, mango pickle with ghee in rice(super spicy), Andhra dhal curry, malai kaja sweet, puri with potatoe veg curry. Will share few more dishes in future.

You can try one little bit directly then mix it with one or more with rice and eat it... The mixture of flavours will boost the taste..!

About INDIA main ingredients consist breads and rice but depends on region to region. North Indians consume more breads South Indian consume more rice and the middle part consumes both. One time rice one time bread and items made with lentils you will find everywhere in India. And yeah green chilly is best if consumed not too much it helps you to make more saliva which helps in digestion.

Papa will take is easy with the chilis, and we will only order what we can consume in the restaurant for now on. Multiple viewers from India have commented about how much food we had for just the two of us, and they do not know the American custom of taking the excess food home for later consumption. Food wasting is an obvious concern for them, so we will take it easy from now on. It's just so difficult because everything is too delicious!! 😋

One thing that I have learnt in India is to stick to the cuisine a restaurant specialises in. If you go to a South Indian restaurant and order Northern food, most probably the taste won't be authentic.

A quick guide for you to prepare the batter for dosa..... Take 3 parts of basmati rice and 1 part of splitted and dehusked black gram lentil soak it separately for atleast 4 to 6 hours and then grind it on a blender mixing both together to make a fine thick paste.... If the weather is warm leave it overnight with lid closed to let it ferment to add the sourness which makes the Dosa delicious. On next day that is the preparation day, take a pan or a griddle (don't worry about size of the pan, the dosa comes out to be a bit small, taste and flavor will remain same), grease it with little cooking oil which you prefer to eat and when the pan gets heated, take a small stainless steel bowl and add batter or paste from bowl to pan and spread it in round shape with the help of bowl till a thin film of batter is attained, cook from one side, till light brown and take it off from flame....... Your Dosa is ready. Enjoy.

@@mumziespapa4441 , noooo... Those 3 chutneys that come as accompaniments for dosas (particularly Andhra style) are normally coloured like that. Coconut chutney is with or without green chillies, tomato onion chutney has dry red chillies, and the green one has coriander leaves. So the colours😁

South Indian(Kerala) dishes best combos:
1) Ghee Dosa/Masala Dosa with Sambar/Coconut chutney/Tomato chutney.
2) Idli/Uzhunnu Vada with Sambar/Coconut chutney/Tomato chutney.
3) Puttu with Kadala(chickpeas/green gram) curry/Boiled or raw sweet banana/Pappadam.
4) Idiyappam with Kerala Chicken/Veg stew.
5) Vellayappam with Kerala Egg/Chicken curry.
6) Parrotta with Kerala Beef Roast Curry.
7) Uppumavu with Boiled or raw sweet banana.
8) Kappa(Cassava) with Kerala sea food items.
9) Thalassery Dum Biriyani.
10) The ultimate ELA SADHYA(Kerala meals on banana leaf) with all accompanyings and desserts and appetizers.
