    wow great video!!! its so helpful that you made a time lapse video to show the growth and care cycles!!! i was gifted an amarillyis years ago from a student and when the bloom died i threw the bulb away. so sad i did not know it would grow back the next year. i am going to buy a bulb and try again, this time with the proper knowledge of care. thank you for the time you put into this video!

    This is a great video. I actually learned some new things. I’ve been growing Amaryllis for awhile. I never watched a video or read anything about them. For some reason, I felt more curious this year. This year, I decided to add water to the roots. They looked so dry when I took them out of the box. It was worth doing this. I never thought of planting them in moist soil. Next bulb, I will plant in moist soil. The Amaryllis I ordered was “Naranja”. And it does not disappoint. I also purchased copper stakes to secure the stem.

    Great Video Devin! 😊 I've gotten my Amaryllis to re-bloom. Now, I just have to figure out how to get their botanical cousins, my Clivia plants to bloom.

      thanks Craig! I've got a couple C. miniata that are a few years old. i think what ive discovered is they appreciate being pot bound so drainage occurs very efficiently. and at this time of year i move them away from any supplemental light source so they can prepare for the winter blooming

    Thank you for a very informative video. I do have a question, if I want to move my outside planted amaryllis bulbs into pots to bring indoors for the bloom, how do I go about doing that? When do I transplant them to pots? Can I remove all the leaves at that point?

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  Před 7 měsíci

      I would transplant in autumn. Let them have a few weeks of cool nights outside 40ish. Then cut back and bring in

    Devin, I am in South Africa and now summer, and received two pots that was eaten by snails and worms. Never had one of them before. I want to keep them in the pots but do not know full sun or shade. They are starting to make leaves now

    What temperature do you set your thermostat in your house or what temp. do amaryllis like ?

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  Před rokem

      amaryllis definitely need warmth to get started but when they begin to bloom i move them to cooler areas so the blooms stay fresh longer

  • @vanschermerhorn7167
    @vanschermerhorn7167 Před rokem

    Can you use grow lights to grow amaryllis or is it a bad idea ? If you use a seed starting matt do you need to get one with a thermostat ?

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  Před rokem

      most heat pads have a built in thermostat to remain about 10-15F above ambient temperatures. i find that to be sufficient. and yes, starting amaryllis on heat pads is a great idea. it can really induce quick sprouting
