- hey guys on today's video we are installing in upgraded Turbo, STI intercooler and a K&N air intake system on our friends bugeye WRX getting it ready for a protune at pure tuning in Toledo.
Hopefully with this mods the car will be able to achieve the 300 horsepower gold that the owner has.

Wow. Great work. Its really easy to tell that you take pride in what you do and treat every project like it's your own. Not a lot of shops would go out of their way to adjust an exhaust or make sure that most of the OEM plastic covers fit again. It's super awesome to see a shop like that.
"Priming your turbo is a critical part of the process" - blows compressed air into a brand new turbo.
Right because blowing compressed air is gonna make spool up to 19PSI correct lol
@@speedyvargas it's not about pressure. It's about spinning unlubricated bearings. Not a huge deal if its ball bearings, but really bad for journal bearings
It comes pre lubricated from factory it doesn't have a ton but it has some lubrication in it so there is no harm at all my friend not my 1st rodeo
@@speedyvargas you're the one who said priming is important. So if it hurts the turbo to idle for a few seconds while pressure builds, don't you think spinning it up with air is kinda the same deal?
So you really think the Turbo is spinning at the same speed when I'm putting compress air as it would when the car is running.

I'd recommend replacing the stock turbo oil supply line with a new braided one. Both for ease of turbo install and for preventive maintenance. This car is 16 yrs old, and the extra $40-50 for the new braided supply line is worth the insurance of a healthy turbo investment. Good vid, though. Thanks for posting.

Bigger the turbo.. the more exhaust it needs to spool up. In the end your pushing more air or holding more boost for a longer period of time
The intercooler does line up just put a little force behind it

i was hella cringing when you were spinning up the turbos without any oil..... nice yes lets just run the brand new turbo without any oil in the bearings
Mymomsagirlpoopgood it's not that bad calm down. Is it good? No. Is it going to to shave metal and ruin it after spinning under minimal psi for a short period of time? No.

I thaught these engines could not handle more than 16 pounds of boost without throwing a bearing or rod or is it just a myths and it was really just the turbo I was a limiting factor in boost by the way this is a question I don’t know I’m asking
@@mrgrump2534 Neither. I've had my stock wrx turbo maxed out hitting 24psi for five years on stock engine internals.
And this is why I do all the work myself that bloody intercooler is on the piss to start with what shorty work

I always say that going with a 16g turbo on a wrx is pointless. A vf39, vf43, or vf48 is cheaper, makes the same amount of power, is capable of running for over 100k, will literally fit like oem. And did I miss something or is this guy really trying to hit 300whp on the stock light blue injectors,stock fuel pump, and stock boost control solenoid? Surely they're already upgraded I hope...

They haven't uploaded a video in 3yrs by the look of the shop, the quality of the work and there knowledge I'd guess there long gone and out of business by now

Of course there's an updated video just because you don't see it doesn't mean there isn't one there's there's the next video Dino tune and we actually made we made the 300 horsepower and it's and as far as the shop goes we have been in business for 11 years and going strong Besier than ever If you look us up online we got really good reviews.

What I wanna know is why didn’t you just call the customer and say “hey bro, I need to buy a tube to make your new hose for your inter cooler to fit. Is that cool?” That way it could have been installed and I’m sure you would have bought a good one
Didn't have new studs so I used fine thread bolts in stainless steel. All good.

How to difference between Intercooler WRX and STI ?
Well big is different is going to be the tanks STI it's aluminum and the other one has plastic tanks and of course the size I believe I have a shot where I have them side-by-side in the video
Stock airbox delete to add the hot air intake and leave the snorkel there like it's still doing something. Must've added a ton of horsepower.
The snorkel feeds outside air to a tube in the fender that routes it to the air filter. Look at 13:00. Subaru's own SPT intake is similar. As to how much HP it adds (if any) only the dyno knows.
@@jukeboxzero1 Actually hes right, stock airbox actually couples to the snorkel, pulling cold air from infront of the vehicle. That intake is now pulling air from under the hood, which will be way hotter. Pretty bad intake design, the only good CAI are the ones that feed from outside the engine bay.
@@landonfife6773 Actually he's wrong. The snorkel IS still doing something. It's routing cold outside air to whatever filter (or enclosed filter box) is installed. I replaced my stock box with the SPT intake then replaced that with the Cobb SF intake.

But the snorkel doesn’t “scoop” air while driving, so that cold air outside the bay isn’t going through and ending up near your intake, which is what you seem to think is happening. The stock air box ATTACHES to the snorkel which creates a vacuum, and that vacuum pulls in cold air.
@@landonfife6773 I get it now. While driving at 70 mph, air isn't being rammed into the snorkel and routed to the air filter. Gotcha. 🤣
K&N air filter sucking hot air from under the bonnet. Wouldnt the standard air box with a hi-flow panel filter sucking cold air from the outside of front grill be better? Im a roofer thou wot do i know😂😂
It will fit but you run the risk of damaging your AC lines which I learned the hard way.
I'm just a noob but if you put three hundred HP into a standard wrx engine doesn't it need to have forged internals?
No I believe you will need to upgrade your internals when you go above 350
We were able to push 295 in the car is still running today they still come to get regular service here at the shop with no issues
That intake manifold definitely came from a different car. That’s an ej207 intake

I'm happy that you solved the issue with the engines, I was wondering if the oil pressure was bad. Was this engine a non avcs?
I’m curious how an aftermarket oil pan was creating a problem. This makes no sense me. All it’s doing is adding a little extra oil capacity.
@@Dave-so7sf Maybe because of baffling issues if it’s a deeper pan and oil is the same amount going in maybe the pickup wasn’t able to pick up it wasn’t down in the pan far enough I have no clue either

Sti come with VF turbos. Bigger then the tdo5 . That 90° coupler even if it came with wouldn't work for you. You'd need to buy a new one either way man

It's the original intake manifold it's just powder coat it for the looks

Did the customer thank the fool for crushing the fins on his sti intercooler after using it as a tool tray. It was in good condition before it was installed, maybe he should have more than one day off.

What are you talking about that’s not that much of a add these cars are built for railing yes it’s 16 years old but anything that would wear from the extra power would’ve wore anyway so if anything now you know what you have to replace

Can I put a turbo on my 2000 outback?
No. Itll blow up. I've done it at least 15 times before just doing a turbo motor swap from a wrx. It's not worth wasting time

Christ that music!! had to watch most of it almost muted. Why in the world did the owner go with that intake when much better options are available? It's basically a hot air intake without having a sealed box on it, also all of that stock intake setup including the box behind the bumper should be removed too.

Killer b oil pans take an extra quart of oil and if you don't use an STi dip stick and dip stick tube you won't get the correct oil level.

You’re blowing the same amount of air into progressively bigger turbos.. larger the turbo the more volume it can flow. More volume it flows the lower the pressure of the same amount of air. That’s why the smallest one had the most air pressure. That was a pointless “test”

@@brandenwright327 the horsepower that company post is what they make engine wise not what's actually transferred to the ground . So although a wrx may come 250hp stock it only makes about 220 to the wheels due to drive train loss
Your special if you think a intake on a wrx will add hp and if you think a wrx stock makes 290. Not even the new ones make that. They make bout 240 to the wheels and the old ones with the ej20 make like 195 wheel.🤣

Well not sure why this is funny to you but if you look at the next video then you can see whether we make the 300 horsepower or not which is really with in the limits of everything that we installed in here so not impossible at all.
With didn't just put a sti ic, turbo and intake, we installed all the necessary Parts for the gold plus professional tuning.
