Glad to see you pop up on CZcams, always hear your name on the forums and Facebook groups. I've got a V9 JDM STI and always wondered about remapping options. Had it a few years and still running stock tune and Shell 99. I don't care about power numbers just want it safe and reliable. Is it worth remapping? Some say they are fine on stock tune as long as on good fuel whereas others say it should be remapped for UK fuel but then they always seem to get a bump in power over 300hp which I am not fussed about if it might harm reliability. Cheers!

    • @racedynamix
      @racedynamix Před rokem

Thanks mate. If it is reliability then I could give it a check up and amend if risky.. Or push it higher without affecting reliability as would be custom tuned for UK fuel rather than hoping its OK 👍 fb message me or text 👍

Good content, I think a lot of tuners concentrate on the final HP figure and dyno graph but can fail at the setup part of the tune that covers 98% of driving, MAF and Injector scaling are often barely touched, relying on closed loop control to do the grunt work. This leaves a car that drives rubbish at low speeds and can cause unnecessary stress on the engine. You would be amazed the amount of "tunes" with an intake that still have MAF scaling left completely alone. I'd love to see more videos of the philosophy between AFR targets and ignition timing. We have a slightly different tuning philosophy here in Australia with our fuel and more climate (ie HOT!) so it's not unusual to tune around 11.5-6 AFR but timing is less aggressive. Keep up the good videos!

Thanks a lot and a big hello to Oz. There is always that 3 way tug of war between boost, fueling and ignition.. I will see whether I can pull a video idea together for it to demonstrate the different ways to get to potentially the same end result.
I have seen a multitude of shocking 'maps' too. 😂

This is exactly how I have my wrx 05 wagon rigged... With vf35 we made 320.
    - Stock clutch is enough so it dosn't put too much strian on the 5sp
    - 5sp clutch plates by kien, to help strengthen the gearbox (im still debating whether it has helped but I believe so).
    - colder sparkplugs
    - Koyorad radiator, keeps coolant temps down better than stock rad.
    - Godspeed J discs & pads
    - whiteline swaybars & endlinks
These are the other extras I would recommend and made a big difference all round.. since the upgrades iv put on 35000 miles with some trackdays. But maintenance has had to be more frequent.

Hi. Thanks. The fmic would allow me to run it marginally leaner if anything as the air charge would be colder and it would also mean more ignition timing could be added. But there are many ways to make power and on the dyno it is so much easier to see what actually works.

Hi, I have a sf5 stb sti forester. 2001, it is an auto currently but I'm going to do the manual swap 5 speed swap. The link g4 is an option for me as I would love to tune it. My Mod wish list so far,
    Turbo back exhaust decat.
    Performance fuel pump
Vf28 hybrid or vf34 hybrid whichever I can find.
    Spec c sti intercooler
    Pink injectors
    Aet water meth kit
Fuji parallel fuel rail kit with regulator.
    Cylinder 4 cooling mod.
    Link g4 + ecu
Every single suspension component will be upgraded, brakes done and tyres also
My main aim is useable power to have fun in, quick spool maybe around 350ish.

Would those particular mods be a good option in your view? I would like to drive it for a bit as an auto before manual swap, if I put turbo on and few other mods to compliment that could my car be re flashed and tuned by yourself on the stock ecu with the auto box on car? I would then do link g4 or similar with manual conversion and tuned with you again
