Drs do such weird sh!t. I remember a veterinarian I was working with, she got bit somehow, and she literally sanitized and cleaned the wound and sutured her wound shut with absolutely no pain meds, just adrenaline. Standing in the middle of the treatment room having a full blown conversation while suturing like it was nothing. Then she went back to doing her surgeries and appts for the day like nothing happened. Also had a veterinarian that INSISTED on leaving his shirt and white coat unbuttoned at the top so his chest hair hung out all day. 😐

I ultimately had 14 ulcers bleeding from the penicillin I was perscribed from my illness. At the time, I didn't know what the test was called. It was extremely crampy when they had to position the camera around a bend in the intestines. The nurse tried her best to distract me from the pain by telling me to watch my insides displayed on the little television. Decades later, I had my first scheduled colonoscopy. It was then that I realized that I had a colonoscopy as a teen. I have since had several colonoscopies...all with anesthesia ❤

You breathe through your nose instead, and no you don’t feel like your choking. This is an endoscopy, not a colonoscopy. A colonoscopy is inserted through the back passage. They can't put you to sleep for an endoscopy because you have to swallow while they are inserting the tube.
And either this one is a new version or it depends on the country because I had an endoscopy in the UK, about 6 years ago, and the tube they used was much thicker than the one in this video. It was at least an inch thick and it was really hard to get it down my throat because I was constantly gagging. It was a horrible experience. I also had a camera through my nose to check my esophagus while swallowing pieces of bread and that was a really thin tube. That wasn't bad at all. I wonder why they can't use a thin tube like that for endoscopies.

During my most recent upper endoscopy my vocal chords spasmed and they lost my airway. My understanding was they did jaw thrusts and ended up having to push more sedation and a small dose of paralytic to get them to relax (I’m a redhead with severe OSA). I was told I need to be sure any time I have a procedure that it is being done in a room with intubation capabilities. I would be interested in hearing about how you handle these situations @DrMyro !
