Must say nice interesting design approach by Seat on the interior, but sadly the dashboard screen kills the whole look, Seat should have had done better on this to integrate the design as a whole. Nonetheless, great review AJ as always.

agreed, dash screens are aways cheap looking, tacky and terrible. Why cant manufacturers intergrate them into the lines of the dash rather than stick them on as an afterthought?
They just take what VW gives them and change the color and icons, as always... so lame 😅
@@morganchapleau2973 Agreed wholeheartedly Ken Wood, that it certainly looks like an afterthought, all these thanks to BMW, they started this and all others simply and blindly follow. Look at how Alfa Romeo did it for the Giulia, now that is truly a beautifully integrated interior cabin. This screens stuck on a dashboard is also a distraction.
jan singh exactly what I think about this interior. I can imagine it without that big screen. Just like R8 has it with only one virtual cockpit. I miss that time when we had no screens at all. Just dials and pure joy of driving
I think this car looks great inside and out, see so many cars right now stuck in the past with there interiors which really frustrates me as I don’t want to chuck money at these types of cars.

So the Cupra hybrid is the Golf GTE then? Like it. Much better integration of the media into the drivers cockpit than the Golf Mk8. I hope that there are brighter interior options. Seat can be guilty of drab interiors.
Does the head of Design know that they've put fake exhausts on the plug in hybrid?? He seems very proud about something that doesn't exist ...
Unfortunately head of design has to follow the trends that stupid market is demanding. You hear enthusiasts complain about fake exhaust every day, and yet an average buyer is asking for something that looks like an exhaust without getting all carbon black in just a few days.
Wow, I am genuinely surprised how Seat evolved. And to be frankly, their design isn't that bad, I think that it is better than the new Golf. Inside is more sporty then golf, we will see how the new GTI will be. But the engines are spot on. So they now have 2.0 with 245hp which is basically like GTI. Since Seat didn't have anything like VW GTI, now they do. Good job
Great first look. But those capacitive buttons on the centre console/lights.... Urgh - why are most manufacturers doing this (and the piano black fingerprint magnet finish)? And the infotainment UI is a step back from current gen SEAT IMHO. The overall styling is nice, the introduction of a plug-in hybrid option is great, out of all the mainstream VWG hatchbacks, this has the nicest styling (followed closely by Skoda) - but I doubt I'll be staying with SEAT for the next car. EDIT: My eyes cannot handle the diamond background of the stage presentation.

I would say having looked at it it's definitely not shut properly from the last person that looked at it.

The less sloping front window really destroys the side profile, the front has lost its identity.. the back is the only part I like.
Inside the seats looks great and the steering wheel but the info screen looks awful.
Not convinced this would be a step up to my leon cupra st 4drive (how much more will that variant be now 🤔)

Golf R is a true German hot hatch, Skoda Superb 272 is the ultimate sleeper wagon, and Cupra Leon Sportstourer 310 is the boyracer's choice. With only a Stage 1 tune each of these is an absolute bullet of a car and a reliable daily driver.

Cascade led is more Audi than be anyway. Also the front headlamps are basically the same of the old a3, which is a big improvement for the Leon aesthetic in my opinion. The rear is really not that good though, at least from the video is seams more like a crossover, but maybe it's only the camera

Konntet ihr zufällig beim Sportstourer als eHybrid PlugIn Version auch sehen, ob es einen verstellbaren Kofferraumboden gibt bzw wenn nein, wie hoch der Boden ist im Vergleich zum Nicht Hybrid und ob es zumindest ein Fach für das Kabel unter dem Boden gibt? (so wie ich das sehe, ist beim 5 Türer ja gar keine Luft unter dem Boden...)

DS is killing it, and other than the all new all DS new Formentor , the Leon would be tops...but DS is nw Peugeot's top luxe sport beast..and EV /hybrid too. Cannot wait for FCA and PSA to get their merge finalized and bring them back to the States.!!
Thanks Aj for this great review, I don't like this latest version of Leon, somehow it is overdesigned lack of inspiration, unresponsive infotainment system without any buttons, those fake exhaust pipes and no gas strut what's with that?? the current Leon looks more stylish and slick to me!

Idk what the VW group has been up to, but despite many people critisizing the looks of the new Leon, it still looks a lot better than the new Golf... Both exterior and interior with it touchpad shit on the steering wheel etc. And as with all brands these days, the new A3 has new features copied from other models, allthough the design overall looks brely different from the previous generation. I guess they'll stick to the copy past strategy they have been doing for a long time with the Golf. Sure you can discuss the looks of the new models, but the BMW 1-series and Mercedes A-class at least look a LOT different from the previous gen.
And the fact that the new 1 series looks very different is the reason why it"s not selling XD. Anyway very good move from Mercedes, they really step up their game and now they have a proper car in the c premium segment. As for audi they'll probability never change and they don't have any reason to do that. The cars are selling extremely well and part of that is that the external design doesn't get old after a year, and that's mostly because the new models have basically the same design (also the a3 has still now the best design in my opinion, but I also really like the new a class), which is also a reason why they depreciate less than the other cars
I wrote it before. Unfortunately the proportions have changed compared to the predecessor and not for the good.
The nose has become just too long ( same with all cars on that evolved platform such as the Golf, Caddy and upcoming Audi A3 ) and destroyed the beautiful sideline of the current Leon.
The overhang grew by 5 cm ...

@@No_Name_FR Which is not huge achievement to be honest. I can't believe i am saying it, but Skoda is prettier than new Leon. Which wasn't case in last generation at all. Also that rear line seems so unoriginal nowadays and it makes rear incredibly thin. That's something you DON'T want when we're talking about performance model.
Also side profile is totally like new focus in my opinion.

First a gas partical filter to kill the sound, now this. I'm underwhelmed. I like the new interior touches but I would still prefer a non OPF version of the previous model.

I do like the copper theme. But the Leon is not a sporty looking car to begin with. It looks like a fancy Fiat Tipo. And the Cupra logo looks like a Transformer trampstamp :P
It kinda looks like a car designed for a videogame. I liked Seat's designs but this looks like an overkill. It's trying so hard to be something as aggressive as a Lamborghini but damn I don't think any of the design elements really do it for me.

The S6 has 4 fake exhausts, at least this isn't nearly £70,000
The fake pipes are for the plugin hybrid. The petrol versions have 2 for the fwd and 4 for the ST.

For me the stance is all wrong - it sits too high at the front and doesn't have the same presence as the outgoing model. The front styling also loses something, it is reminiscent of a Mitsubishi Evo, but doesn't look like a SEAT.

The copper accents will age badly, it is a very fashionable color at the moment (e.g. for faucets), but it is probably not the best idea to use all these accents as a long lasting corporate design.
Car looks suprisingly amazing. But those fake exhausts. What were they thinking. Are the designers really so unimaginitive, that they don't know what else to put on an e-car?

Well great car! looks way better than the new Golf 8. Seat always reminds me of VW's sensibility mixed with Audi's sleek but bold design inside and out.

I Just picked up my 2020 Leon Cupra in Magnetic grey in march glad i did because the new one is an ugly SUV hope it changes in 3 years when i look at replacing it
The front does look like a FR line but NO WAY like a Cupra version. From the side the car looks way too high like a bus. The rear gets destroyed by the exhaust pipes. Overall the car looks quiet ugly and unexciting from outside.
