Amazing! Even though I already had the Nintendo 64 emulator setup, this helped me above and beyond when it came to re-living some classic games with brand new textures. Changes how we play retro games for sure

Pro Tip: if you dont have the .local file path that leads to “hires texture” you need to run a game using mupen as the emulator and also have texture packs turn On. having these turned on will create the file path.
i didnt have this so i hand built the path then loaded the game with custom textures turned on with my home made path and texture pack loaded but it didnt load my texture and it created the file path to a separate hires folder. so i went back to check an seen it. so i delete my homemade one an copied the textures to the file path the game made on its own.
all you gotta do it turns out is run a game with the mupenplus emulator and the custom textures turned on.

This is awesome. I had Majora's Mask set up in Windows specifically with the HD pack and now I can take my one hold out game over to Batocera! Hell yes!
Batocera blows my mind. I've been slowly setting it up on a 2tb drive. Following all your tutorials Mr. Nation! Currently stuck on the MAME one because of the huge files lol. But that's something I've been wanting forever. All the arcade! This ways been so convenient and looks awesome.
Are you gonna be doing more Nintendo stuff next? Certain things I'm confused on if there's a way to put in Batocera. NES and GBA is all good, for example. But then you throw in like the E-Reader cards on GBA, or allll of the weird Famicom Disk stuff and it seems a little confusing. Just wondering what's next on the agenda lol. Very appreciative. Thank you!!!

I plan to do more tutorials on some more emulators. I will have to take a look the E-Reader cards and the Famicom Disk and play with it before it's a possibility.

If I want to use textures in .hts format with Mupen64Plus-Next, where should I place the texture file? The file in question is the Mario Kart HD pack.
Edit: Figured it out. I have to place it in \share\bios\Mupen64plus\cache, and turn "Use enhanced Hi-Res Storage" on for the .hts file to work.

    • @fonzitheman

Are they all zipped though ? Try using them all unzipped.
I found for N64 you are better off using them unzipped for some cores.
Then N64 or Z64 extension roms should boot fine.

I think the only reason you need to update bios files is if the next version of Batocera adds a system that needs one, which correct me if Im wrong but v32 doesnt.
V31 did cause it added classic xbox support.
Its not like theres new version bios files for retro systems being created 😁

Ah… I havent tried any beta versions of v32 and havent looked at what system(s) have been added… care to mention it here? 😁
It might not be a system I care for (or others) so we still may not need any new bios files. 😊
Also, I read some comments somewhere that the devs have indeed added the pcsx2 Libretro core which Ive always hoped for.. As a choice for PS2 emulation, that true?
Id imagine the stand alone emulator would still have to run considerably better though.

I'm on version 33 and did not have mupen64plus so I created it myself and copied the textures packs into the hires texture folder but unfortunately the mk2, gliden, and rice cores do not work. They would start and go back out to the n64 menu. The only core that works is the parallel one which according to this video does that support hires textures.
