    • @synergysynergy
      @synergysynergy  Pƙed 6 lety +2

      Full tank is around £20 I think, I’ve never run to bone dry and filled up, just top up whenever I see a gas station, plus I run a larger ims enduro tank so saves me from running out in the middle of nowhere. It really depends on the riding style, but you can make it last a day of riding or just a few hours if flat out everywhere

    • @synergysynergy
      @synergysynergy  Pƙed 5 lety +1

      Fuel wise we just fill up at petrol stations the same as cars and bikes. Legally a helmet is optional on a quad but I’d recommend always wearing one as it’s basically the same as riding a motorbike without a helmet, if you crash it’s not going to be a good situation

    • @synergysynergy
      @synergysynergy  Pƙed 5 lety +1

      To answer your other questions from the other videos, yes we have indicators and handbrake and horn. Parking wise it’s advised to park in a secure garage with a ground anchor and chains etc as they top of the list of thieves and won’t last ten minuets being left outside overnight

    • @synergysynergy
      @synergysynergy  Pƙed 4 lety +2

      Hey man, the 450R’s top out around 70-75mph, I’ve ridden on the motorway a few times, legally you’re allowed, the best quad for high speed road riding is the Raptor 700, the 450’s like mine don’t like to sit flat out at 70mph as you’ll seize cranks after a while, the 700 is geared much better for the road, plus engine can handle Sitting at 70mph on the motorway with ease, the raptor 700 will do 80mph. A quad will put a big smile on your face on the way to work 👍

The Suzuki’s are also very nice, either the ltz400 or ltr450. Imo Stay away from all of those jingaling spy racing type quads, pure junk.

      Hey, fortunately not, but last time we rode in london was a few years ago, now we just stick to country trails. It seems these days the robbing while riding, is a lot more prolific so definitely keep your eye out for those scooters, also when you ride bike make sure nobody is following you as that’s one of the way thieves will target you, so maybe do a double loop before heading home. It’s a shame but you have to be really careful these days. Probably worth hiding some kind of tracker/Apple air tag somewhere on the quad.

      +paul caffyn hey, top spend is 70mph with the 450 and 80mph with the raptor 700, if you know how to and have big balls you can pull wheelies up to 70mph, 450's are race quads so pretty ballistic, the big brands like Yamaha Honda and Suzuki is a different world to the spy racing stuff, no offence intended but they aren't proper quads, get yourself down a Yamaha Atvs shop and take one for a test ride, you'll be blown away by the difference, watch some videos of the atv racing in the states and you can see what they are capable of, if you want to pull 50ft jumps then you can do that as well on track

    • @synergysynergy

      In the Dakar they use Yamaha Raptor 700’s, I guess its possible to tour Europe, I dont think anyone has done it on a quad so would be a worlds first, you can do a few modifications to make it even more robust, like a expandedoil cooler tank and a larger fuel tank, as long as you have a few spares you should be fine for a euro tour, chain and sprockets would be a good starting point

    Hey Synergy, I’m getting a quad soon. I live in the UK, near Bristol and want to ask a true quad owner what antics happen on the road on a daily basis on your quad, so I know what I’m stepping into. For example, do you ever get shouted at by bikers or cars? Do people think it isn’t road legal? Do police stop you? Do you get a lot of looks etc. Stuff like that, I’d really appreciate a reply, thanks :D

    • @synergysynergy
      @synergysynergy  Pƙed 6 lety

      Hiya, good choice, you’ll have great fun on and off road, the only drama you may have is when on off-road byways walkers don’t realize your allowed on there so may yell at you, on the road you’ll just get smiles but no drama, depending on where you live police may be curious and pull you over, more out of interest than anything else, the only time we were pulled over was in central London for parking illegally by the river and on one other occasion. Generally speaking it’s no different from a car or bike, it will put smiles on faces rather than have people raging at you

    • @SIRKlLLALOT
      @SIRKlLLALOT Pƙed 6 lety

      Synergy Cheers for that mate, it’s so so hard to find info about quads because people are so obsessed with motorbikes and cars and you never see a quad. I would have got a Sport one but I am limited with space (literally) as I had to find a quad narrower than 114cm wide exactly, so I am getting a Quadzilla 520s farm quad, the big beefy ones. Slower than a sport one yeah :/ but hey it’s a quad and I love all quads! I have tried looking for green lanes/byways but I don’t have an ‘up to date map’ of them all. One last thing, do you have any ideas of super security devices, I mean I plan to have mine covered up, bolted to the ground, chained to a pole, it’s got a lockable gear lever, a security post etc. But can you get alarms for them? Cheers mate.

    • @synergysynergy
      @synergysynergy  Pƙed 6 lety

      It will be plenty quick and you’ll still have great fun it, then when you want a race quad you can step into the world of Suzuki or Yamaha. Security wise you have a few options, you can get trackers, alarms and most importantly get a quality ground anchor and chain, a decent chain is critical as most chains you can get through with bolt croppers, spend the extra and buy the best available, Almax chain or pragmasis, thieves would have to spend considerable time with a angle grinder to through it. Chain like the oxford ones are a waste of time and money, to easy to cut

    • @SIRKlLLALOT
      @SIRKlLLALOT Pƙed 6 lety

      Synergy Thanks for your quick replies, hard to get that these days aha. Just out of interest, how difficult is it to actually make a quad such as a raptor ‘road legal’ as it obviously doesn’t have indicators, mirrors, etc. So do you just bolt it all on. Mine already has all that but I was just curious how you could make a quad like a Honda farm quad or Yamaha farm quad road legal? Or does it only work for specific quads? Thanks :)

      Pleasure mate. You can buy road legal kits for quads, most shops use quadtech in the Uk, think there is a link in my description, the aggravation with making any quad road legal is the paperwork that is needed and also think you need to get in on a dyno, first thing you need is a certificate of conformity, which you would get from Yamaha, basically a shop would charge you £1000 to make it road legal including the kit, if you did it all yourself you could get it done for around £450-500 but be prepared for some aggravation. I think there are only one or two quads that you can’t make road legal anymore, due to the manufacture refusing to issue the paperwork, happens with Honda’s I think, but if it’s been made road legal year ago before they started preventing them it’s absolutely fine, it was something to do with bad publicity for the brand with their quad on the roads and accidents, something along those lines anyway

    I'm not sure if this is going to get a response now but I'll give it a go!
    I owned a road legal quad years ago and had the best time on it. I didn't want a bike and I absolutely loved cruising round on my quad. Of course hated by all manner of other road users...especially the cliquey biker groups but I'm not really bothered! "You're not a real biker mate"...nor am I trying to be lol! I'm going to buy a Raptor 700R to get around on soon and have a question. Is it legal to traffic filtering on a quad in the UK? I know it won't always be possible sometimes but am I legally allowed to do it if sate to do so?
    I have looked everywhere and most questioned online are tainted by bikers complaining about quads and how they won't nod to them (I know I know...get a life)!

      Hey man, it’s a good question, as far as I’m aware it’s not legal to filter, I think due to quads being classified as cars, I filter on the quad and have had a few people comment saying it’s illegal to do so. Good choice re raptor 700, awesome quads and much more reliable than my 450, especially on the road

      Hey thanks for the response Man! Really appreciate it. I had a feeling that would be the answer...I think filtering is a grey area even on a bike!

      Anytime man, it’s always nice to see/hear other people enjoying quads. Grey area is the best way to put it, over the years I’ve never had issues with filtering and I think most car users assume you can so generally move over to let you past

      It has 4 wheels mate, meaning it's wider than a motorcycle, you wont be able to filter unless your an irresponsible Wally. Get a bike.

      Your best bet is to join quad heaven Facebook page, many helpful Uk quad riders on there as well as quads for sale. You also should look on ebay, you have many options from Yamaha raptors, Yfz450R’s to Suzuki Ltr450 or Ltz400. Ask away if you have any questions and I’ll try to help

      Thanks man, always appreciate the positivity. Quad wise you should look at either a Suzuki Ltr450, Yamaha YFZ450R or a Yamaha Raptor 700, you have plenty of time to save up, have a look through ebay and it will give you an idea of what kind of figure you’re aiming to save up to.
