Great observation. It helped to make up my mind. Thank you!

Nice, honest review. The fact that it won't search within content is off-putting. But I'm still tempted...

Well I bought it from the best buy down the street and returned it not long after unboxing. I made a note then wanting to send it email the controls were grayed out with a message that I had to log onto Remarkable 2 to activate these options. When I did after going though stupid are you a robot click this but there wasn't any hyperlink. The page then auto generated another page that told me I was logging onto an non secure site and offerings to McaFee service with prices. I don't have and don't want. tried twicw and both times trying to get me to buy virus protection. scam

I hear great things about the LAMY EMR AL-Star pen. I use their fountain pens and they're wonderful. Might be worth a shot, and I think it's about the same price, maybe a bit cheaper.

The faster a device charges, the faster the battery life declines. I look forward to many years of use out of my use out of my reMarkable 2 because because of the slow charge rates.

Yep. This is good advice. Using a high power 'charger' is not a problem, it is the device which decides how much power it will use for charging. But do keep hold of those 5V 2A chargers while you can.

The rM2 syncs to the desktop and I wonder if one cannot run OCR on synced files in some automated way. I am almost sure there is OCR software out there which does this on watched folders. Just an idea … But of course, you then need to use the desktop‘s search features.
Moreover, you can ocr notes on the rM2. But it changes the notes (from handwriting to printed), it is not an invisible ocr.

Why the heck did you film the remarkable from above when you could have screen shared to your laptop and then screen record? :D Also, why not just let it charge overnight if it takes a long time to charge?

I just bought a remarkable for a specific reason. I have been watching reviews and yours came up and I listened and was wonderfully surprised by the ending. Keep professing the Love of God!
My purchase is to do just as you mentioned in the last sentence.
    Many Blessings...

When changing the nib, regardless of which side of the card you use, if you start at the widest end then slide toward the narrow end, you’ll accomplish the same thing. Great video! I’m on the fence about the Remarkable. Great device though! 😊

Nice video, thanks. New user. Question, have you come across any content creator that has developed a scalable graphics package for the R2? By that I mean, text boxes, quote bubbles, arrows, lines, etc?

Great video! what kind of light are you using when writing on the Remarkable 2? My challenge with it, two months into ownership, is the lack of a light of any kind. It has a grey screen that discourages my use of it. Suggestions? thank you again!!

It's true that the remarkable is not backlit. But neither was the Franklin Planner paper book I was using. It's a trade-off. No backlight means long battery life.

I find hard to buy this tablet when i see old Microsoft surface pro computers on ebay with same price tag. I agree that it's not a fair comparison. But a computer is more versatile than a tablet.

The rM2 is meant to replace paper, not a computer or, e.g., an iPad. I have an iPad and a rM2 and would not want to be w/o the rM2.

@@falklumostill, the price is pretty ridiculous for a years old tablet of any kind. Let alone just a notebook replacement.

    • @thcoura
      @thcoura Před 4 měsíci +1

@@falklumo Well if it works for you it's fine. But think for a second of what you're saying: You need a second device beyond the iPad because you need something to replace the paper. They said the same when the Personal Computer was introduced.

This is not a tablet, so it's not comparable. I have an old Surface Pro 4, but I would never write on it like I do on the remarkable. Shorter battery life, screen just hurts the eyes at some point, pen has to be recharged/battery has to be changed, and I find the remarkable just much more user friendly than any other app I've tried on the Surface, maybe with the exception of OneNote, but I'm not a big fan. Overall, this is a device that is much less versatile than a laptop, you're right, but that's not the point. It does one thing, maybe two if you add reading PDFs/ebooks as well, and it does it really well.
