Congrats on a Turkey well done! Yeah getting it out is always tricky. Loved the prep work. You can also cook many other things in your Butterball Oil Free Turkey Fryer. Great video!
@@ant108 I’ve got a couple of pork shoulder butt videos up on my channel if you want to see how they turn out. I’ve also smoked salmon in it before. I want to do a leg of lamb next. Cheers.
Hi Anthony, wondering if your using salted butter or unsalted? also wondering what dry seasoning you put on it. This is only going to be the second time I am going to try making a turkey. last time was total disaster. One more question is that two sticks of butter under the skin? For I am pretty new to cooking. Thank you, it looks so good.
Morning. I like to use salted butter. It could be 2 sticks of butter but more is better. Also any seasoning would work. One turkey I've done lemon pepper and the other is regular poultry seasoning 🙃
I've been using my fryer for several years. The one thing that came back to bite me was a turkey too big whereby the drippings overwhelm the dripping tray underneath and made a mess on my patio. This fryer works it really works. Awesome turkey.
I cooked a turkey yesterday, 16 pounds, which overwhelmed the dripping container but I was expecting it and had already put a plate underneath. My turkey came with a popup temperature done cooking probe. The Butterball thermometer read 180 when I turned it off. I didn't cook the free turkey for me, I will eat some of it but it's mainly for my puppy. I added applewood chips and the turkey came out tasting like applewood.@@ant108
I've been using the butterball infrared turkey fryer since they first came out. I always do a 14 pd I believe the directions suggest 16 pds is max. I'm amazed you fit a 22 pd turkey in there. I'll have to try that since my family is always growing. Try soaking the wood chips for 20 min. to get the full smoke flavor. I replenish my soaked wood chips 2-3 times during the cook. I can also tell that you set it on high instead of the recommended time. I also, cook mine on high because I live in an extremely cold climate. It seems to work great at the temp for us northerners. For the drippings, while the turkey is resting I let the fat settle in the dripping and skim it off before I make the gravy with it. Ahhh, did you say you were going to let the turkey sit for 1 hour instead of the recommended 20 min? I never put anything on my turkeys cooked this way. The hickory smoke wood chips make an amazing turkey. You should try it some time. Les work as well. Hint on cleaning the basket. I take out the top rack of my dishwasher and just set the basket upside down and let it run for a long wash. It comes out nice and clean. Thank you for taking the time to make the video.
Looks excellent..I'm getting mine ready now..
We use ours every year now. Used to brine and whatnot. Totally unnecessary. This $20 roaster is amazing
