Most singers don't try to hide any accents. They sing to the music and it informs the accent ... nothing could make that more clear than blues, folk and country, no one is hiding anything

@@theccpisaparasite8813 Yessir - I believe that some vocalists simply lose some of their accent naturally, all singers are unique into themselves. I do tend to gravitate towards singers who keep a lot of their accent while vocalizing: John Lennon, Liam Gallagher, Van Morrison, Morrissey, Sinead O' Conner. I really dig that British accent above all others! I don't think you can sing properly TRYING to hide your accent. Nice comment! Cheers!

I had the privilege to meet the Cranberries a decade ago, along with two of my daughters (ages 8 and 9 at the time) when their mother and I were in the middle of divorcing. Dolores was so sweet to them, treating them like her own kids (she even pointed them out to the crowd between songs). Our paths may have only crossed that one time, but she is very much missed.

I was about 18 at college in the UK when this came out. In a time when there was a lot of great unique bands out - Nirvana, Pumpkins, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Portishead… - The Cranberries stood out and held their own, not following any trends, just being their utterly unique selves and showcasing that unbelievably incredible voice.
Their first two albums will always have a special place in my heart - I only have to hear the opening notes from Linger and I’m a teenager again.

One of a handful of songs from the 90's that played hundreds of times on the radio that still sounds amazing every time.

This song was EVERYWHERE in the nineties and early two thousands, and is still in rotation.
You can't be held responsible to hearing bits in the grocery store or while scanning the dial.

I'm looking forward to your reaction to Dreams. I my opinion it's the best example of her vocal talent and truly demonstrates the beauty of her voice.

I think you guys would love their song Promises. A good balance of heavy and melodic sounds from the band and the vocals are beautiful as always

Hey guys, if you just sit back and concentrate on the background vocals, it's Delores singing the angelic/siren part. Her voice is so unique and it does transcend genre preference. ❤😇

Don't sleep on Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering, Devin Townsend Project), Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), Deborah Skin (Skunk Anansie), Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney), Shirley Manson (Garbage), Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Tarja Turunen (Nightwish), PJ Harvey etc.
Especially Anneke though, she is without doubt one of the GOAT female vocalists.

@@fretworkinmotion3711 On Most Surfaces rocks harder than anything Alanis Morissette ever did that's for sure. Alanis made one massive album that got lucky on the radio (30% of her songs you could actually classify as rock) then she disappeared off the face of the earth. Meanwhile The Gathering and Lacuna Coil were sowing the seeds for the female rock and metal industry for the next 20 years but most mainstream audiences didn't wake up until the 2000's to see how good they were.

I like you admit you’ve heard the song in passing. I’ve heard lots of not my type of music when I’m out and about, when reactors say they’ve not heard certain songs, depending on their age, it can sound very unlikely.
Then again I knew a white American woman who was certainly the right age to have heard a lot of classic rock in the 70s and she lived in NYC so how did she not?
Classical music fan. Totally immersed. All her albums and radio station settings and concert experiences were classical. the group of younger (Gen X) friends she had acquired in old age had a great time introducing her to Queen and trying to explain Bohemian Rhapsody. She became a big fan. RIP Ms KL.

This, Ode to my family (which is a very cool, slow one) and Dreams (which is the quintessential Cranberries song where she really goes off with the vocal) are the other two big Cranberries tunes, everything after this is a deep cut.
