Shea moister is thick .. but it gives volume and bulk and shape plus protection and hydration that last . I do a beard wash with that brand amazing and after I Comb it out ... Trim the wild pieces . Than some comb-thru hair gel ... Yes I Kno it's hair gel for blk hair . Comes in the tube for like 1.97 Walmart small tube green blk yellow, old school lol. Now just enough in your palm and go thru your beard or until happy ..next comb it out and beard oil .. all thru it . Now brush and feel the sensation in the skin.. and wait .. let it do it's thing an set inn some . Maybe 3-5 mins go back comb again and knock off any longer pieces ..bc now the beard is in strands and extra soft and shiny and hydrated . Next i use better beard oil l I believe it's called it's thicker to.. Put that in and comb it ... sounds like alot but the serving size of everything is small, Than add sheamoister beard balm in palm and rub it all in. Comb and shape and when that sits up ...you have a healthy ..thick ..bulky Clean ,Well shaped ,Smell good Beard . The mass and volume this gives is wow ! . So many ppl ask how do you get your beard like that ?? I Use multiple product... And yes certain product will shrink your beard as a visual and others will enhance your beard length and give bulk and volume but again only a visual . You never lost or gained any but for the next two days it will look a certain way due to whatever product your using .Now the real look comes in 12 hours .. after the beard and skin took in everything. Wake up in am, I only use a beard oil and comb thru gel pea size . Comb it in and it's like combing very well tamed hair , very straight , some waves . Very very soft to touch. Longer appearance. Bright rich healthy blk hair . Beard compliments from all race of ppl . And it last about 3 days with minimum up keep. Minimum product. Slight wet wash in shower but don't wash it or strip it with beard wash until day it's beard wash day . Than repeat . Your beard will look so different and healthy . Honestly I was disappointed with scotch porter line because of all the hype behind it. I don't like the smell, I Honestly didn't see or notice anything special about it and like you said my bead shrunk. I used it for a week and switched back to shaemostiure. Shaemostiure is easier to get and find, I love the smell and overall I think its a better product for me personally, but I recommend trying both to see what works for you.

Shea Moisture does my beard the best out of other products I tried. Shea also lasts the longest as far as softness and moisture throughout the day. With the beard balm it holds pretty well although it comes on thick it softens over the hrs. With SP I have to rehydrate mid day and still by time Im home its dry again and shrunken in as opposed to how it is with Shea. Only other that come close to daily longevity is Soss products for me which is a close 2nd to Shea.
