  • LKE is a company that specializes in making historically accurate messer-type swords. The Langes Messer (Long Knife) and Kriegsmesser (War Knife) were swords widely used in Europe roughly from 1300-1500 AD. The Langes Messer was carried by both peasants and nobles as a small, self-defense weapon. I commissioned LKE to make one of their sharp "Gottfried" langes messers last year.

Looks very nice. Curious about the weight and PoB of your Gottfried? That it's so flexible and light is encouraging. Is the maker's mark stamped at the PoB? I have an Adorian and it's stamped very near the PoB (98mm). My Adorian is fairly light (792gr) but the shorter blade is definitely stiffer than your Gottfried's. Mine too is enemy of water bottles :)

It does seem the POB is right at the makers mark! The adorian looks so nice too. Ill have to weigh it soon.

Yea the grip looks shorter than its shown on the website, maybe it is because of the additional pommel? Other than that really cool.. knife.

Yeah I would have opted for the longer one for sure. I think the CC1 is a little short.

I'm happy about the short grip, too many one handed swords have grips that are just too long

They shorten the grip if you choose to have a pommel to maintain the balance.

I'm fairly surprised that the handle is smaller, I'm assuming because of the CC1 grip you can get. On the Gottfried I have, it has the default handle and I can grip almost with both hands, so it's interesting that it seems they shorten the grip. Of course I could be wrong and my hands are just super tiny lol.

I def think it was the CC1 I ordered that made it smaller like that.

Total sword porn. Does it have plenty of distal taper? Thinking of getting one

It has amazing distal taper which is why I think it handles like a dream. We still use this sword all the time to cut. I think you'll enjoy it off you get one.
