Great video but after doing my first couple of tile jobs while renovating my house I would say don’t cheap out on either they will both make the job go easier for a beginner

    Hi,
Thanks for your great videos. I’m a diyer and wanted to know which thinset would you recommend to install 12x24 tiles over Kerdi in a shower. Could you use anything else than Schluter’s own thinset?
    Thanks!

According to Schluter no 😆 I personally like Ardex x5 the best for those. Ardex warrants their thinset over Schluter
As for membrane application though….I would stick to Schluter for their warranty

Hey Steve, Would a better saw blade make a difference with this type of saw?

Yes for sure 👍 for ceramic or stone tiles, I don’t think it would make a difference, but for hard porcelain tiles it would

Great video. Do you got a video or could explain what is the best way to go about this. I'm going to set my curb for the shower, but I got glass doors that has hardware that goes on the shower curb. The shower set up is 2 walls, that will be tiled, and then a 2 wall glass door setup. I don't know exactly how the hardware goes just yet (in shipping), but after thinking about it, I'm worried the screw holes for when I attach the hardware to the shower curb, will all water to penetrate from the screws. What would you do in this situation? I was planning on using Kerdi board on the walls, and was thinking of using it for the curb as well but will probably just go with a curb made from block, so if I do screw into it, it won't expand like wood would if it got wet. Any advice would be great.

So you can do this a couple of ways to avoid problems. One would be to get a curb that allows screw penetration. My favorite is the kbrs hardcurb - amzn.to/44SQ002

The other alternative is to cut screws & use epoxy glue for the tracks. Similar to what I did in this video - czcams.com/video/Eb75cWsSlw4/video.html&si=nBeuFf2dcNK1Npzs

Is this finger swipe like an east coast thing I’m genuinely curious, I never intentionally want to even touch thinset dries your hands out too much, my wife doesn’t like that part. Inch and half Margin trowel my man is like a hammer to a framer, an extension of your finger in this case. If you can find one get on.

😆 it could be an east coast thing, might just be me 😆 margin trowel definitely better 👍
