    That offload by Otago 10 for their third try. Absolute quality. And he got their second.
    He has a big future

    Great that my old school has become such a force. Nelson no longer a rugby backwater.

    Are three-player latches still allowed outside of the pros? One for OBHS's first score, and another for that tap pen in the dying minutes.

    Wanna know why Rugby doesn't have mass national appeal outside NZ? @2:04. The willingness of referees to kill a game by penalising the team in possession is a persistent blight upon the game. Rugby League is a better sporting spectacle because it's simple.

    • @newremote
      @newremote Před 2 lety +1

      They were penalised for illegally holding onto the ball after the tackle. It's not killing the game, it's to allow players to compete for the ball for a turnover. It's pretty simple really.

    • @megafauna8374
      @megafauna8374 Před 2 lety

      @@newremote You would say that if it was your team that gained an advantage, but then 2 min later you'll be outraged by the arbitrary interpretation of the same 'rules' by the same referee. Rugby is deliberately and stupidly arcane.

    • @newremote
      @newremote Před 2 lety +1

      @@megafauna8374 Contesting for the ball is central to rugby union which makes the laws more complex. Like many millions of others, I'm fine with that and I don't expect perfection. And what might look arbitrary to you will make perfect sense to someone with a better grasp of the laws. I also watch a lot of rugby league and league fans complain about decisions all the time, constantly. It's the nature of any sort of football.

    • @megafauna8374
      @megafauna8374 Před 2 lety

      @@newremote Sure, Rugby League referees make mistakes, but those mistakes are less arbitrary, less technical and esosteric. A rugby referee hands out 3 point penalties like confetti. That doesn't happen in RL. Rugby has become a bit like soccer, the lesser team wins more often than they should.

    • @newremote
      @newremote Před 2 lety +1

      @@megafauna8374 Arbitrary, esoteric? It's very rare that I don't know why a penalty is given, just like my friends who also know the laws. Union is harder to ref than league but the decisions aren't arbitrary, they're based on the laws which aren't esoteric, anybody can learn them. And your assertion that lesser teams win more than they should is not something I've noticed at all. In fact I'm sure it was much more common in the old days than it is now.
