    I can tell through all of this Dawn has been humbled...this was a good interview. And the last part almost made me shed a tear. Dawn if you ever see this please get back with En Vogue even if it's just for a cameo track. The world still loves you and hasn't forgotten your contribution to the music ❤ always.

      I don't see her as being humbled, and I don't understand the desire to have her "be humbled". Dawn did nothing wrong. She was the one with the courage to ask to be fairly compensated and I will always respect her for that. She absolutely made the right decision. It is women like her over time who have paved the way for the women of today in the industry who have much more awareness around fair compensation. Hats off to her, and may she never "be humbled" or shrink to fit anyone's expectations.

    I love Dawn and l grew up with my homie Ray 94th Plymouth... I'm happy to hear the courage and strength Dawn has💯 It's tough because the business takes Your love for music, your talent and your dreams and uses it all against you as they ride you like a magic carpet to their own benefit. Like Dawn said just be quite and enjoy the ride of success...And you're like lm famous but lm still hungry! And here's the Oh so golden words from the music heads "It will greater later" by here's some dollars to keep you afloat Out my own pocket!🙉
    I myself went straight to the stage with Live music, covers, impersonations, etc(I've never recorded) and it too has the greed and manipulators. In the long run you either stay true to yourself or lose your desire to sing or even lose passion for music 🎼

    Dawn Robinson will forever be the voice that speaks to my soul. Terry’s voice is my go to when my heart needs to feel something (yes I bought her album when it dropped). Cindy’s voice takes my spirit to a heavenly space and Maxine’s vocals speak to the “old soul” that lives within. Individually, they all have the ability to affect and inspire a listener...however their impact on the world as a whole is undeniably seen when those voices come together in harmonizing unity and they start Giving Us Something We Can Feel!

    Her interviews are always very candid and that's why I like her. She doesn't bs the audience or fans I guess. I hate business, man. How do you sign someone to a deal in which FOUR PEOPLE must split 2 cents per cd sold? And the company will still have the audacity to recoup videos, make up, travel. SMH. I get in the beginning, no one knows what will happen in terms of success. But there has to be a clause added to say if it reaches x number of sales, the split increase from this to that, etc. I'm glad the music industry has tanked the way it did. Too many people were getting ripped off. Now, they've made names for themselves and can go off to make their own money.

    • @tlewisisdope
      @tlewisisdope Před 6 lety +3

      The music industry is inherently exploitative. It's built around making money for songwriters and companies. It's ALWAYS been this way (from the earliest days when most of the money was made from sales of sheet music) and honestly, I think artist unions should negotiate better situations for artists coming in.

    Well I would say to her Look the past is the past ..Sometimes in a group period somebody do not like who gets this n that n whatever I wish It would all stop the egos the chit chatter the inner hate. I wish En Vogue get it together and just enjoy the craft they started with seems Cindy&Terry Doing just that I'm quite sure they want more money a lot of people want more money in the workplace and yes people do get robbed I wish she would go back to the group n just enjoy the craft and blessings You never know But if everytime you move you pick you point n keep it going it gets tiring n is when drama start I hate to say this but since the group broke up I've heard nothing but negativity yet 2 out of the group still trying to pull it thru that is saying you know what we gotta do what we gotta do to live comfortably to finish creating and enjoying our craft n is what it gotta be I hope she rejoins n do the same

    Real talk: Dawn needs to return to En Vogue. It's where she shines most. I know that Cindy, Terry AND Rhona would welcome her back. I know that Dawn has dreams of being a worldwide solo superstar, but it hasn't happened and it's not going to happen at this stage of her life. Not without En Vogue. En Vogue is a brand with an established name and legacy. She has more opportunities (more money) when she's in En Vogue than when she's solo. Dawn, return to En Vogue and do a little side project during some downtime.

      I agree with this. I always said they messed up their 20 year reunion. They should have done a 4-song EP so they had 1) something new to perform alongside the hits and 2) a new revenue stream. I think it's sad that the original 4 let outsiders break their bond. I think it's sad that all four don't own the name. I think it's silly that Cindy and Terry are using the name with a new person (no knock on Rhona, who is remarkable) when the entire brand of En Vogue is tied to the original 4. This is not like Destiny's Child or The Supremes where the brand is tied to ONE lead singer so you can replace other members.
      I really think they should reconvene, dump Denny and Terry, and get it together. But I don't see that ever happening.

    • @Calvin375
      @Calvin375 Před 6 lety +3

      What interview were you listening to? She just said that they were not being fairly compensated even unto this date. That's the reason Maxine departed over five(5) years ago. It's amazing how many people only want to hear what they want to hear and it's still not the truth.

      I think a lot of that is that her vocal strength is a little weaker than it was back in the day. EV is my favorite girl group of all time, but I can honestly say that even though Max and Dawn's voices were my favorite and Terry was my favorite member, Cindy is the only one to really retain her full vocal power over the years.

      No, she did not. After the second album that sold millions, every artists goes to their management to renegotiate their contracts. She did no more than all artists in the industry do after having two(2) successful multi-million selling albums back to back.

    • @Calvin375
      @Calvin375 Před 6 lety +8

      @Fluffy York, No, it's not even about the history that you are naïve about; you are ignorant to how business is handled. Do you work your 40 hr. a week job for free? No, you don't . Not unless, you're a charity provider, a FOOL or just a willing SLAVE. No, you work to earn a paycheck. That's how you make your living. This is not only about the music. It's also a business and a livelihood for those who are fortunate enough to reach the pentacle of the music industry successfully. EnVogue had achieved that status and they were more than deserving of the financial success that it brings.

    • @fluffyyork6911
      @fluffyyork6911 Před 6 lety +1

      Calvin375 Actually you will find that she was the one not satisfied because she was impatient about the money. Two successful groups and talks with her both broke down. The common denominator is Dawn. I know how the industry works and I also know that if that is your passion you would do it for free. At least the girl wasn't starving. Maybe she had a habit to feed ALLEGEDLY not the kind that involves hair makeup and clothes.
      Just face it she was greedy took advice from a person who was in a a group who in bars mention YOU ARE NOW ABOUT TO WITNESS THE STRENGTH OF STREET KNOWLEDGE. Ok now this is where it went wrong and asked him Janet Jackson style WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY?
      You do know that when working with artist in a group the first to leave is the one with the most issues. If you want to work and get paid do so but do not put yourself on a pedestal. Who officially has the En Vogue name now? They are touring in my hometown next month. I will miss her. Talented lady but her humility is fake.
