    People are absolutely fascinating. Imagine being so invested in your own birthday that you assume - not even ask, but *assume* you can bring your own cake to someone else’s wedding and get sung to. I simultaneously wouldn’t want to speak to this person for five minutes AND want to sit down with them for an hour just to get inside their head.

    Woman you have birthdays every year. Hopefully this is a once in a lifetime day for the couple. I would look at you like you were crazy if you tried turn my wedding or any wedding into your birthday party.

    She could just attend the wedding ceremony and then go home to celebrate her birthday at home by herself, instead of attending the wedding reception. Or celebrate her birthday on a different weekend with family and friends.

      But that would mean the entire day wasn't completely centered around her. From the conversation, the idea that Her Birthday wouldn't be completely centered around her is something she isn't willing to think about.

    My aunt turned 90 ten days before my wedding. I arranged to have a cake for her and to have the band call her up on stage so we could present the cake and have everyone sing Happy Birthday to her. This was OUR choice! My husband and I agreed to do this and planned it without my aunt’s knowledge.
    Birthday celebrations, engagements and pregnancy announcements are NOT to be made without the knowledge and consent of the bride and groom!
    Later that night my brother and SIL told us (my husband and my siblings) that they were expecting their first baby. It was done quietly and in another room. My family had been through hell in the nine months leading up to my wedding. My parents were terminally ill and died within a month of the wedding (they insisted that the wedding go on no matter what). My siblings live all across the country and it wasn’t easy to get us all together. I was so glad that they told us when we were all together! Again, it was done quietly and it didn’t take any attention away from me and my new husband.

    what I'm baffled at is the insistence of mentioning the birthday as if that's going to change the mind of a WEDDING venue company. It's a wedding venue not a Chuckie Cheese

    It’s so hard when the explanation is “be a nice human person and don’t try to do this“ but they are an alien and you have to try alien logic or something

    We got married on my FIL’s birthday. We did present him with a candle lit slice of wedding cake.

    ok, just watched this, the audacity of some people. literally just wait until next year or celebrate it another time. if you want to do smth at the wedding, then like, say it's your birthday and get your 5 birthday wishes

      I had my birthday on the day of someone's wedding who I was close to. I was a little disappointed but I didn't make a fuss. A handful of people who knew both me and the couple gave me cards, but that was it.

      I know, right? I want to say, Sweetie, you are (presumably) an adult. You can celebrate your birthday before the wedding celebration, after the wedding celebration, or on a completely different day. Announce to those who *have* to put up with you that you're having a Birthday Week in protest. I promise, the other adults will ignore it, or not, and will also ignore you, or not.
      "But it's *My Day*!" is the whine of a spoiled child who has never been told 'No'.

    • @fukushuu_bara
      @fukushuu_bara Před 2 měsíci

      @@goldengryphon This is so true! And another point I saw is that they're only turning 1. While that is special, they're definitely not gonna remember anything, UNLESS your child is Albert Einstein or something, and even then, I don't think he even remembers being 1. Unless your baby is superhuman, missing a birthday that they won't remember doesn't matter.

    • @goldengryphon
      @goldengryphon Před 2 měsíci

      @@fukushuu_bara Considering the person who was throwing a fit to the wedding venue person was calling about her own, adult, birthday, it's not special.
      And why would anyone want to take a toddler to a wedding and throw a completely separate party for them there? That makes absolutely no sense at all.
      It doesn;t matter if they remember it or not, they need to learn that the world will not shift to make their fantasies happen.

    It’s her birthday, but _THEIR_ party. Stop trying to freeload. Obviously, your birthday isn’t as important as their wedding is to them, as it should be.
