words cant describe how much i love this channel. my whole life, riding my bike was something i had to do if i hadnt enough money to buy a train ticket... but a few months ago i found this channel and since than my life actually changed. i ride my bike for fun in my free time. never thought that that would happen. i am actually saving money for an entry level road bike right now. (i own a way to small hardtail mountain bike. but hey its fun) now i am looking forward to my first little event and i consider joining a local club. thanks GCN, greetings from a small town in south germany :D
Had a fuzzy feeling in my stomach reading your comment. Gcn restarted my love I got for bicycles from when I was young. Most people give them hate for showing mostly high premium stuff but I think no matter what you ride if their videos give you joy and more need to ride that's all we need. It's better for not being able to buy a bike right away. Take your time to study geometry and really decide what you want from it. I hope you will make a wonderful decision on your next pride and joy!
dont snub aluminium bikes! they are awsome entry level ones out there that will wow you
GCN made me clean my old steel frame and commute by bike. Greetings from Freiburg in south Germany.
Mir gehts da ganz ehrlich, komm von der SchwÀbischen Alb. Da fÀhrt halt einfach kein Zug :)
Definitely embrace your local club. They will greet you warmly and may even have some nice gear to pass on to help you get started.
Si throwing shade at JPow is funny as heck. :-)
SI and Jeremy are such a good/funny paring!
Why are we all so stoked to see 2 dudes we'll likely never meet qualify for a ride we'll probably never do? I was on pins and needles till that high 5. Now I'm smiling as if I had qualified.
haha exactly
Met Si at the start line. That was the last I saw of him lol
vedhed21 I did the first three WGFs and I was stoked because I have been there. Almost broke 4 hrs.
No cigar đđŽđŒ
Because they are two nice lads. Proper gentlemen who also strive and achieve, yet still stay humble and modest. So, we just like them!
Si has been retired for a while now but the SIborg still has it đź
Yes, in contrast to another GCN presenter who used ride in the tour de france ;-)
Si was only 11 min behind the winner Not bad
@@billc7211 The finishing time is misleading because Si started with a VIP group 10-12 min ahead of the main field. Had he started with the main field his time would have been 10-12 min faster.
Smashed it
12:50 shows it all - 80-90kms in he's overtaking everyone w/o losing breath
Definitely inspired by this one - added to my 50 before 50 list!
Have to say for a nice guy Si definitely has a dark side... "he's a cyclocross racer so only has 1hr and 5mins before he blows" with an evil grin, "I'll be sure to film it" đ€Łđ€Ł epic!
I was able to qualify for the WCH in Varese last year. Was even racing for top 50, and at a 150m from the end, some Italian just went of his line in the sprint and I had nowhere to go... Crash at 150m from the finish line... But I was lucky enough to propose to my girlfriend at the big podium. We are getting married this friday ! I will cherish the gran fondo series for the rest of my life !
Congratulations
You know, of course, that you must get your new bride into cycling if she isnât already. Otherwise this is the last new bike youâre likely to own mate. đ
Actually..... best thing youâre likely to do, getting married. Good for you.
@@SIvers-or2ke Thank you ! And we've been together for 8 years now and I've been racing all those years so she knows what she is getting into :D
Happy married life .. cheers
Things happen for a reason bro, Congrats!
This was the best pubicity the ride organizers could ever ask for. I had a smile on my face the whole time and had to pause it to laugh at the supertuck at 12:35
This one gives me a feeling of both thrill and bit of sadness. I'm Vancouverite and i was going to participate this years Gran Fondo, which is my first attempt. When i've heard that GCN is coming for the event, i was super excited! ...maybe too excited. So i ended up with injury on the left knee by overtraining. Tried to recover, didn't worked. So requested a defferal for next year at the last minute đą
Anyway, congratulations for passing the qualifications!
Hopefuly i can see you guys on another event like this.
New to Canada, from the UK (still going through PR process), I was signed up for the event this year as well and training was going well. Climbed Cypress several times, rode a chunk of the 99 to Britannia (I know, the easy chunk), was psyching myself up to ride Seymour. Then I fell on the West Vancouver ice rink (was also training to be a good Canadian) and broke my wrist. Only fully recovered in August after several months with no exercise other than walking, so had no training and had to pass as well. I now have a house in Whistler, so next year, all being well, Iâll get to ride home. Congrats to everyone that did it - I cheered a few of you in with only a small tinge of envy.
Good luck next year
Pussy
oh no the defferal... oh no is it happening?
Great video. Iâm one of the participants who tried to qualify. I agree, that was a spectacular ride although I didnât enjoy the scenery cause I was concentrating on my race. Even had a picture with Si. Thanks Si. I think I qualified if my math is correct, we were told weâll know officially by October. Hope to line up with you guys next year. Keep up the good work.
Great ride Reidag!
I love the retro 80âs sound effects and music!
Iâm from Vancouver and i love riding out to ubc and all over its absolutely beautiful here.
Itâs was the best thing to meet Si and Jeremy in person when they were here! Super nice, nerdy (in a good way), encouraging and funny!! Somehow they feel like two brothers one always play pranks and throw the other in the shade, and one never gets mad and play along lol hahhaha glad they enjoyed the ride!!!
Thanks Amy it was great
I rode this route in opposite direction on my 11,000 mile tour from LA to Alaska and back in 1992; it's just spectacular!
Couple of Brits now living in Squamish, done the Fondo 3 times, great event and great to see you both here.
Love the 80's tour de france doco synth music.
Great to see you both at the RBC Whistler GranFondo, and looking forward to the world championships in 2020 !!
One of my favorite GCN episodes ever. Well done, Simon and Jeremy. You guys are a great pair of presenters.
The team of Jeremy and Si is incredible. Love you both.
Great video, loved the banter, big smiles! Thanks!
I really love these longer videos (over 15 mins) you have been making... Keep it up!
Thanks guys epic RACE! Great work behind the scenes by the GCN Elves too.
I have been binge watching GCN during Corona lockdown. I really hope Gran Fondo event will still take place (and a means of travelling to there) after all the efforts you guys put in to qualifying for it!
Another great video, thanks guys ! The Orbeas are just such cool bikes. I love the way they genuinely let the employees share fruits of their labour, too.
Little did they know, the Rona had other plans for the World Championships
Alas.
Yes, over something less deadly then common cold being used as a political scam by the politicians the bankrupted america plus exploit the people and the pharmaceutical companies that started an opiod crisis. But yeah, it's the people who aren't stupid enough to buy into the ole song and dance yet again and be mental infants that are the real idiots... riiiiiight. 1984 in action.

Great coverage! I saw a couple of my friends in the background of your video. I love the in-race footage. Great job out there!
Great video! Thanks for coming out to Vancouver, I know it must have been a brutal flight for you. Thanks as well Simon for the selfie photo inside the Alta food tent, my kids went nuts when I showed them the photo as we watch your video! See you next year at Worlds!!! :))
Jeremy looks like a bond villian @2:51
đđŻ
Well, maybe like Dr. Evilâs son.
These race videos are easily my favourite. Well done all!
One of my favorite GCN presented events, great job. Whistler's GranFondo has got to be near the top of any bike addicts bucket-list!
Dynamic duo!! Awesome video. Between this and Chris on GMBN with the Leadville video, itâs a good week!
It was a great video ! Good job on qualifying too guys ! Can't wait for the video about you guys at the World Championships
Awesome video! I was vicariously feeling the stoke through you guys!
The back and forth in the hotel ending with carb load is solid gold!
Fantastic video! Really enjoyed the banter and humour. And the scenery! Great to see the best of BC on GCN! You guys make it look easy! Kudos as well to the film crew and editors, best coverage yet of the RBC Fondo. Congrats on qualifying for the 2020 Championships!
Thanks Ian
Absolutely fantastic video. I laughed so hard during the tea scene. Way to go Si and Jeremy!
Best episode in a long time. And I think all youâre videos are great.
After a long time this is one GCN video I really enjoyed watching!
I love these videos. I went out on my club ride and came home after getting soaked. Coffee made, time to sit and relax with an epic GCN video!
Thanks Christopher
Epic production, hats off to all involved well done guys I look forward to seeing the World Championships. Looks such a stunning place to ride. Great video informative and entertaining thanks again and all the best Andy
You two were awesome! Presented the ride in a fun way and still kicked butt!
Nice to see my fave cycling journalists in my town. I didn't go this year - went a few years go, but I'll vouch for taking arm warmers! It's great to be on that beautiful road with at least one lane all to yourself.
The video production, music and editing is off the charts (ok, besides Si's vlog). GCN is on a roll!
When can we start enjoying this in 4k?
chu chu Technically, actually medically, youâll never know because 4k is beyond the maximum resolution of the human eye. The human eye can only detect a maximum resolution of 2990ppi.
@@prestachuck2867 you'd need a 2 inch 4K display to get that pixel density, so anything bigger than a watch you'll be able to tell
Loved it! I think I better do this next year now after watching that! Thanks guys well done đ
What a great video. That music and cinematography at 13:00 in took me straight back to the first time I saw American Flyers!
Well done guys! Another great cycling performance, another top quality vlog. Best of luck at the World's in 2020! Next it would be interesting to have the GCN squad entering a TTT event.
Only if we can warm up in the pub
Congrats to you both! The view was stunning and I am sure the race was a great experience. Hard to believe that you both would suffer as you say so.
More of this mate, this is fun to watch and mice to follow, that was fun
10:20 -- "Hey, Jeremy, tell me about your bike..." (c) D.Klein :-)))
Absolutely perfect video GCN. Love you guys..
No disrespect but.....I must admit that at the start I was not thinking you two would qualify.
So I was even more excited for you both when you did.
So a big CONGRATULATIONS to the both of you guys.
Very well done.
S. Ivers funny, I was thinking, how did they get in the front row
great chemistry! great presentation. best GCN vlog in a while.
Thanks for all the support
Great video guys! The rides where you race I enjoy the most!
Is today the single greatest day of content across GCN, GTN and GMBN? Excellent J Pow and Si video; great team training challenge on GTN then finished off with Opieâs epic Leadville 100. That was my time in the pain cave sorted this morning.
Glad you loved it Andrew
OMG that face... " I want to beat you too"))))) Amazing!
amazing! great video and as someone from the UK who hopes to make the qualification for next years worlds.. love it!
I love these productions and Si hes brilliant as always, love bike pron in this race :)
Lovin' the bromance between these two! Great chemistry and FUN!
Thanks Janet
Another great video. Si being competitive as usual
great video...makes me want to travel to vancouver and participate in this route! Loved the commentary as well!
Nicely done Si & JPow! Another GCN success!@ Thanks!!!
Thanks Dan
These videos are amazing and inspire me to get on the bike!! Thank you so much for these videos!
Thanks for watching, Daniel! Happy riding!
Vancouver! Whistler! You guys are soooo lucky! BC is stunning!
It's an amazing feeling watching a gcn video filmed in your own backyard - you guys should come back more often!
We'd love to be back soon
Great video! Outdone yourselves on this one GCN. The race videos are the best
thanks Will
Well that was 17:39 minutes of my life il never get back...............and it was sooooooo worth it. from the start of gcn up till now every video has got better and better đ well done gcn keep the vids coming and I will keep watching!
Love this channel. Great work guys
Well done Si & Jeremy on qualifying. Great video and preview to the Worlds next year. I raced Poznan a few weeks ago after qualifying at Cambridge this summer and it was a great experience, but prepare yourself for all out carnage on the day. It is absolutely brutal. Looking to qualify again at the tour of Cambridge next year.
Was supposed to be riding the Whistler GranFondo this September. Seeing as it's cancelled will be doing a nice solo ride.
I will say, this edit made me oh so proud to call Vancouver home, thanks for the reminder GCN.
This is a very well-shot and entertaining video. Keep it up!
Great episode guys. Love the combo of playful competitiveness--I was laughing my ass off at Si's reasoned estimate of when Jeremy would blow up--Vloging combined with the drone work.
And congrats on qualifying!
Put in a spoiler alert !
seeing all those guys pushing hard, spinning a high cadence keeping their heads down, man I want to get out there again! Halfway through winter already, hanging in there!
Another high- quality video from GCN! Si and JPow are great together.
Nice to see, however, a little tension between these two, like they could be in a duel to the finish at any time, last man buys at the finish line.
Loved that you sneaked in a handsome glaucous-winged gull right at the end. Nice to see the local wildlife represented
The view from the sea to sky highway is so beautiful you have to force yourself to keep your eyes on the road where they belong.
You guys were flying up that road. It's been a few years since I have driven up there but I could has sworn it took us an hour to drive up to Whistler from downtown Vancouver.
3 bananas = tons of food! I don't think so Jeremy
wasnt Jeremy who said so
More videos like this pleaseeeeeee!
Looked into this earlier in the year, and now wishing I would have done it! Iâll keep it on the list for the future. Looks great.
Congratulations guys, well done! You both made that look easy (but I know it wasnât)!
That grey Pinarello of Jeremys' is sick looking. Love that thing. Great job to both the guys.
Epic ride. Epic video-editing! Can't wait to ride it one day.
Awesome! More of these please!
I love there friendship. Makes me so happy.
so cool to see you guys in vancouver
Amazing video. What an event. And well done guys for qualifying. đŽđ»đŽđ»đŽđ»
Great video! Finally, some Canadian content! Hopefully this means there are a few more videos coming up from around BC?
And long chats about all that suffering. And suffering goes better with coffee at Tim Horton's.
If you don't mind the dirt there's quite a bit of GMBN Can-Con
@@tychoMX Whistler is MTB paradise.
Robb Chastain Drinking Tim Hortons is a form of suffering also đ
Great video 10/10. I was rooting for them both.
It's like Magneto vs Prof X, these two. Love it.
This a goal race of mine and I get emails from it- I also get emails from GCN events so seeing come ride with GCN showed up regularly in my inbox that I had to double take when RBC GranFondo sent it out in an email also talking about riding with GCN and read through some more carefully to figure out what was going on. I was thrilled that Simon and Jeremy were coming to Vancouver and somewhat disappointed that I wasnât ready to do the Fondo. I donât have a bike and even if I had bought one on the day I read the email- I still wouldnât have been ready to take on the race but hey I still have a goal to work towards and thereâs always next year to do the Fondo!
Super excited that Simon and Jeremy both qualified for next year! Thatâs awesome and Iâm glad they enjoyed Vancouver and Whistler. Hope they get to come back and maybe do the triple crown.,
Loved the video- now I want to do the race more then ever!
I'm so fortunate as an englishman to call British Columbia my home. It's stunning here. Even after 18yrs here I don't take it for granted. Incredible cycling too
Great summary of a great day on highway 99! Thanks
My two favourite GCN presenters at present, great video.
Thanks Shaun
Excellent job guys. Congrats on qualifying...
Congrats đđ another epic ride đŻđ€©
This was great! Loved seeing this. I wish I had a funny or snarky comment but I donât. Iâm jealous. What a fun looking race. Congratulations
Thanks Ian, I'm trying to think of a funny or snarky reply but I can't. Thanks for all the support
You guys should do the GCN show at the event next year l'm sure it would be epic!!
All i can say it's thanks for sharing this event. I really like ALL out the GCN presenters and it appears to mange you guys and ladies work well together. Makes me wonder Sri you have room for a non pro overweight slow rider on the channel? This channel is just a world of information on cycling all around. Thanks for what you do. GCN you have to start making movies. The cinematography is EPIC ! Thanks again for all the great content. Now I'm going to ride my bike.
That is definitely an epic ride. I got to drive it many years ago, and I was blown away.
it was great to meet you guys, thank you Jeremy and Si. keep up the good work
Thanks Francy :)
