    Best thing ever! So nice to see her again doing what she always did - turn heads. Last time I saw her, she was doing just that through Gidea Park, Romford, and that was over 60 years ago, when she was a regular on that line!

    I have to skip to August 2020 here. The Llangollen Railway has opened its doors to me, and two new videos are now on my channel Kelly Ashford trains. Proof of my train rides is evident. In any case, I love this video.

    The run captured end to end, magnificient. The power and elegance of the steam locomotive is captured vividly and real. Thank you for one of the best steam rail moments. VishG

    great choice of locations as always. You're braver than me to go to the end of the Golf links at Dawlish Warren; I remember one time I was on a train stopping there, and there was a thump as a golf ball bounced off the window. Since then I've tended to keep my head down in the vicinity of there. :-/

    So there are some UK stream locomotives with decent whistles ! What an improvement on all the pissy little ones on most of the others, even Tornado. Fab footage, especially when viewed from far away Oz.

    • @Steamclips
      @Steamclips  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi and thank you for your kind and interesting thoughts from 'Down Under'. I must agree that the "toy whistle" carried by Tornado sounds a bit pathetic, it has carried more "macho" whistles in its short history but apparently the current one is "correct". I prefer the GWR whistle of course, which can be heard clearly from miles away (great for preparing for a shot!) and even after all these years makes me jump if I am nearby and not prepared! Best regards, Alan

    Alan, What a wonderful pan across the Exe. Thought about doing this myself sometime, maybe this year. Nice to see Britannia unaided, looking and sounding good. Here's to many more steam trips this summer. Keith

    • @Steamclips
      @Steamclips  Před 9 lety

      Hi Keith and thank you for the nice comment. A couple of recommendations for the DW shot: do it at low tide because moored vessels can obscure a lot of the view when the tide is higher, and walk along the prom then down onto the beach rather than along the dunes or through the reserve, the walking is much easier where the sea has wetted the sand! Good luck when you give it a go, Alan

    • @hemerdonbank
      @hemerdonbank Před 9 lety

      Steamclips Cheers, Alan. I must admit I would naturally have gone for a high tide without thinking the boats would be higher. Thanks for the tips. Keith

    I used to see Britannia class going over the Old Oak sheds iron bridge 1960. I vaguely recall the other big ones were West Country & Battle of Britain. I know Halls were the rare ones.
