- Shahrzad performs a tribute dance to the golden era of Egyptian art. The golden era lasted (roughly) from the early 1900's to early 1970's and was a time when Egyptian arts and cinema flourished. During this time we saw some of the biggest names in Middle Eastern music and dance emerge and make their legacies.
The song is a classic by Mohamed Fawzi called Fatafit il Sukar. This song appeared in many golden era dance scenes. This version is a live interpretation played by Shahrzad's musical ensemble 'Soot il Sharq'.
Designed by Shahrzad and made by Loyal Ahmed, the costume is inspired by the lines and shapes of classic belly dance costuming made with modern elements such as crystals and lycra.

I definitely prefer this type of performance over any other! This, your Dreams of a Dancer video and your dance to Sert El Hob several years ago are my favorites due to the black and white treatment, the atmosphere and shadowplay is magical. A whole series in this vintage style would be amazing!

Reminded me of Nagwa Faouad except she wouldn't do the hagalla, that, i'd attribute to Suheir Zaki! As an Egyptian, i obviously prefer this to the Western oriental version. It's simple, earthy, feels like feet in the soil. And as you're my fav Western bellydancer, i absolutely loved this combination of Golden Era and you! Sukran! :)
