The way the assault pods fit in the larger ship reminds me of that mcrn class
If it were recolored, I would totally accept the ship at 9:28 as a design for the Raptor-Class Fast-Attack Cruiser from the books.

The command cruiser is beautifull. You can really feel its presence when you're around and you know that one of these wouldn't be coming for a simple bounty hunting mission rather be there to orchestrate an invasion.
Yep and of course when you base it off the Spirit Of Fire (Halo) it's definitely gonna be a command/support vessel with quite a lot of firepower god i love the Spirit Of Fire's look both ingame and in Space Engineers
All I can imagine is joining the server and seeing that menacingly floating above you.

That spirit of fire styled ship is by far my favourite with like the droppods, utility bits, brilliant!
these ships are giving me huge MCRN vibes. I love em.
Being an Expanse nerd, I'm bothered seeing the Scirocco, a Cruiser, being called a Carrier.... But they're all such good recreations (the Expanse inspired ships).
Corvette, Morrigan, Scirocco... I hope to see a Donnager or a Truman.... Bring on the Foehammers!
People in general tend to overuse word Carrier.
I like it that the DRF fleet has evolved into a very very expanse-esque style.
Val's ships strike me as more Battlestar Galactica (especially The Odysseus) than the Expanse designs of Husker. I will miss Pabble's insane ships though.
Its funny you say that considering BSG is my main IP i build lol . honestly vals ships are super unique and i cant really pin point a specific IP they are just glorious . although i get Osiris vibes from his Command cruiser
Papple could always come back in the future to do some more designs....but that would be rather hard since we'd have to recapture him again too, and the green drones are currently keeping him and Jack busy.

@@VallornDeathblade In a semi-recent stream, Jack actually used a GDA destroyer on one of his servers and the ship was destroyed through being rammed repeatedly. I don't think he got a single kill.

14:40 To me that looks similar to the rebel version of the Corvus from Battlefront 2. It's absolutely beautiful and looks badass (which is as important as functionality) on top of the DRF campaign being executed perfectly. AMAZING work and I wish I could build such incredible designs

The DRF designs (and some of Splitsie's designs) have heavily influenced how I make my own ships, and these new ships are an excellent addition to an already fantastic lineup

For something to have "battle" in it's name it you should consider: The Battle Effectiveness Award recognizes sustained fast and winning performance in an operational environment within a command.[1] To qualify for Battle "E" consideration, a ship must win a minimum of four of the six Command Excellence awards (Maritime Warfare (Black "E"), Engineering/Survivability (Red "E"), Command and Control (Green "E"), Logistics Management (Blue "E"), CNSF Ship Safety (Yellow "E"), Efficiency (Purple "E")),[2] and be nominated by their immediate superior in command. Eligibility for the award demands day-to-day demonstrated excellence in addition to superior achievement during the certifications and qualifications conducted throughout the year. A ship’s performance during training exercises, weapons inspections, and tactical readiness examinations are among the 16 different areas that are considered in the competition.
This was awesome! Love the cutouts and stuff, been working on my own internal thrusters on ships recently too (though i am having three because it is massive)
That zepherus stealth ship would reflect so many radar waves, it needs to be more smooth to be more realistically “silent”

Aaron, as for the shock absorbing landing gear, I have an idea you may want to toy with, use a combination of wheels and landing gears to absorb impact and lock onto a ships hull and grind your way inside.
The Excalibur is still one of my favorites but the spirit of fire one is certainly a nice looking one as well.
Different type, so they don't compete.

DRF, RWI, and INIC fighting against the Green Drones. That would be EPIC for a Season Finale. But that’s thinking too far ahead. Before all that, maybe we could get small peeks at the full operational power of the separate navies/armies? That’s be pretty cool. Please make that new series soon! Can’t wait!

The pillar of Autumn is a Halcyon class. Apparently it's internal structure is honeycombed so it can absorb hits and damage exceptionally well.

So my opinion about the classes:
1) I would consider it as Reconnaissance Corvette. It probably would have problem even with fighters, but it generally should avoid confrontation. It is common mistake, but Gunship is common name for Attack/Assault Craft. Larger units are called a Gunboat.
2) I disagree with some design choices, but let's call it diplomatically a Torpedo Destroyer. It is slightly too big for a Gunboat and I presume it has a Jump-drive (boats usually don't have those).
3) Assault Frigate. More flexible design then usual. It is common misconception but term Assault is used for the first line of ground forces. Assault units combine firepower and ground force deployment capabilities.
4) Stealth/Explorer Frigate. Nothing to add (I personally consider planetary capable ships as Assault, but in this specific case idea of Stealth ship fit it better). Good looking ship overall.
5) I'm not sure? Escort Destroyer? Heavy Gunboat? Depending on if it has jump-drive.
7) Heavy Assault Corvette. Undeniably.
8) Yup. A Cruiser. Specially Cruiser-Carrier. I didn't see command center, but for DRF standard it is sufficient command ship.
First four ships are quite cinematic. Bit under-powered in my mind, they compensate that being quite tanky. And I really like last three ships, though they lack proper CIC. For cinematic purposes and in line of keeping consistency with Papples style, those are definitely good ships. Not as good as the originals though. Still for what DRF need they are good fallow ups.
Edit: I forget to mention that size is relative, so I judge them on eye.
Epic Expanse-based ships
The first one is totally a Rocinante! Well except for the interior, but making horizontally stacked ship floors in SE is awkward.

As I saw it they used Spotlights behind the Blue Blocks, but I don’t know wich Blocks they actually use

All 3 of Vals ships are Halo based , Looks like In Amberclad, Forward Unto Dawn and Spirit of Fire from Halo 2, 3 , and Halo Wars 1 and 2

There’s “based on the expanse”, and then there’s “MCRN recreation”. This was pretty close to the second one.

I wish people would acknowledge not only this, but also most of Jack's RWI ships being "closely inspired" by mainly Halo and Stargate.
I also find myself dissatisfied with these designs for other reasons:
1) People think exposed bridges look cool. I have yet to figure out why.
2) The DRF ships in Colony Wars were designed for one purpose, and one purpose only: To destroy in twenty seconds the ships that took Jack twenty episodes to build. The ships were designed to function well, not look good. I personally find that much more interesting than ships that maybe look cool, but could barely beat one of Craz's gunboats in single combat.
3) Throughout this entire video, I didn't see a single decoy pod.
4) The phrase "Inspired by The Expanse" seems to have a completely different meaning now. Previously, it meant making ships that functioned well as a result of intelligent design. Now, it means visually ripping off the MCRN.
@@autumngottlieb3071 The exposed bridge thing is a remnant from the bridges of today's real warships, and the aesthetic choice just sticks. With spaceships though, you're right. It's completely impractical.
I say this with love Aaron, but please for the love of God go get one of those Skillshare trials everybody peddles on here and take a class on audio balancing. Every video you're either too loud or too quiet relative to everything else. (in this case too quiet). Please figure out how to get a constant voice volume relative to everything else it will enhance the viewing experience 10 fold.
