    Thank you so very much for posting. You gave me the confidence to attack a very easy install. My "mechanics" overlooked this part & changed every other fuel component to no avail. I'm an armchair "mechanic" & figured out the issue & your video explained it to the point I fixed my long term driving problems in 10 minutes! Thank you, again, sir!

    A fantastic tutorial. Easy to follow and understand without extensive knowledge and experience. Was able to repair my 1991 245. Thank you so much!

    Excellent directions, thank you! And it is far too easy to drop the bolts, especially the lower one. I lost the bolt somewhere in the crossmember and had to kludge something to ensure that the part was tight and secure. The repair was exactly what was needed, but now I have to find a replacement bolt due to clumsiness.

    Did mine today. Like 5 minutes and done. Part was 100$ though. Soaked the screws in WD-40 as they were caked with dirt and grease. Thanks

    I’m gonna replace mine today also. I plan to replace that small hose as well. I think you need engine mounts. My car needs the mounts also.

    Great camera work, thank you for taking the time to explain. If the diaphragm is bad and is leaking gas into the vacuum, could this create a high idle situation?

    Inserting the return port into the rubber return line first, and then pressing into fuel rail during reassembly saves a little struggle...

    He didn't even have a bad FPR i thinj he just wanted a shiny new one to feel good about... It is Nice that this was posted for newbs but it's so obvious most anyone that has worked on cars ever the slightest could figure this out without much effort.

    I recently replaced my fuel pressure regulator two days ago after I replaced it I drove it and it was running fine and all of a sudden the car just cut off on me I dont know what the problem is it's like it ran out of gas so I put two gallons into it and it still sounds like it

    I found out why my 1990Volvo quite working my fuel pump engine control fuse was melted. What causes that and why? And how do I replace my fuel pump I have the Regina system non turbo?

    Is smelling gas a reliable test because I smelled mine and it did smell like gasoline, the car seems to run fine. How do you know if there is a problem with the Fuel Pressure Regulator?

    • @volvosweden
      @volvosweden  Před 7 lety

      +Halzar Not sure how to test it. I replaced as a preventive maintenance. New video on Volvo 240 will be uploaded in 30 minutes.

    • @volvosweden
      @volvosweden  Před 7 lety +1

      Halzar It is failed if there is fuel where the vacuum line connects to it

    • @plightn
      @plightn Před 7 lety

      Yes you're right! I had to read up on it a little bit to realize that fuel should never flow into the vacuum tube so if it smells like gasoline chances are the membrane is leaking gasoline into the vacuum.

    • @plightn
      @plightn Před 7 lety

      Hey just wanted to add to the discourse. I just preformed this same replacement last night and the car wouldn't start afterwards! If this happens to you don't panic! Take the vacuum hose off the throttle body and suck the air out and then without releasing that suction put it back on. That little bit of suction did the trick for me and it started right up. I think this is because when you open the fuel line the pressure escapes.

    • @volvosweden

    Hi I don't know if u can help me but I need the short hose that comes off of the back of the fuel pressure regulator and the other one at the other end as well that's a longer hose do u know where I can get these hoses, they are low pressure ? What size etc?

  • @steppenwolf0057
    @steppenwolf0057 Před 8 lety

    I would think the short hose on the left side would leak because there is no hose clamp?

    • @thatoldschoolvolvoguy5012
      @thatoldschoolvolvoguy5012 Před 7 lety +2

      Richard Ott it's just a vacuum line so there is no fuel going through it unless the fpr has failed.

    These cars are some unbearable pieces of shit, you try to do the most basic of general maintenance and at least one thing is going to break during each repair, resulting in another repair which results in another break during that repair and it's just bad. Never again.
