BDO Cooking Guide Part 1 - Gear, Mastery, Materials and Leveling to Guru

- Welcome to my Cooking by the Book series where I make mastering cooking easy.
In this video, we'll look at how to set up for cooking, including gear, utensils, lightstones / artifacts and mastery in Black Desert Online.
I'll also show you how to get materials and how to power level cooking to master and guru.

Sorry if this video feels a bit chaotic at times. This is my first big video and I was kinda learning everything on the fly.

- Crop exchange: certain special crops (onion, garlic, pepper, hot pepper) can be exchanged at these rates at any seed vendor: 1 special -> 2 HQ / 4 white crops
- Substitution: Date palm wine, teff bred, and fig pie rare procs can now substitute 2 of the regular proc.

I dunno why I'm even telling you this, but you have a very relaxing voice lol. I've been watching your vids a lot lately as I've been doing lots of life skilling, but there's a select few (this one included) that I'll try to put on and pay attention to while I'm lying down to sleep, and i can't finish the video because I wind up passing out. I'm sure some of it is just me being tired, but for some reason this video always puts me to sleep lmao. I don't mean it in a negative way, I legitimately keep coming back so I can try to finish it and learn more about cooking, and your other cooking vids have been insanely helpful, but yeah these videos are just very relaxing lol. I do a 3 Meal rotation: Mediah, Balenos, Valencia. Spare Sausages will be cooked into gratins. Beer is easy, Only Peppers are additional needed for fried vegies. Fish can easily gathered by workers in Epheria (with 6 workers). The higher procs on oatmeal i use for pet food. Since i do Hunting, Blood and Meat are both gathered at vendure bucks in odraxxia. The spare meat i got, i cook into red sauce which i can also use for gratin and valencia meals. i only buy pepper in the market. onions and hot peppers in fences. it is a pretty efficient rotation with minimum material waste.

I think you can get Bracken with a worker by investing in the Tshira Ruins node in Dreighan.
Started cooking to supplement silver gain for grinding Gear progression. Now at Guru 36, grinding silver to supplement my cooking addiction.

This is the 1st actually good BDO guide I've found on CZcams. Nicely done!
I suppose you haven't looked very far then as there are some very well known BDO CZcamsrs that have been doing great content and helping people for years.
@@MrReese My issue was that 98% guides for this game seem to be aimed at people who can barely read or never played a computer game before. I could find 50 guides that don't have the same amount of information put together as this one. Or are just script-less rumbling on stream.

Heya, I'm using 4x HAN Gervish, 2x WON Cobe, 2 BON Hystria and 4x Ancient Magic Crystal Hystria. You could also go for dim magical crystal: cooking for cooking EXP or more AMC hystrias instead of the BON and WONs. Very helpful. Which residence is best for cooking? Is the new haidel mansion good?
Whatever residence is close to a central market and/or the imperial NPC. The mansion doesn't have a central market nearby as far as I know so it's not the best place to cook.

I'd recommend picking whatever materials you need based on the dishes you're cooking and filling up with high-value nodes (not necessarily cooking nodes).

The original creator has deleted the sheet, and this is a private copy, which means the sheet has last been updated in 2021 and won't be updated further.

And my nodes are really scuffed, I haven't updated them in a good while :D
I just took all nodes that produce materials I need (cooking mats, saps, traces, powders etc. for alchemy) that weren't too far away from town and spent the rest of my CP on high-value timber/ore nodes.
Noob question do the stones on the artifacts have to be on certain order? Like artifact with xp gets certain stones and the mastery artifact gets certain stones or it doesn't matter?
Order doesn't matter for the set effect. Though if you put feather and iridescent into one artifact, you get to re-use it for the alchemy set 'A fragment of a Star, a Spoonful of the Moon'

Whenever I look into cooking again I am reminded of how much of a hassle it really is :X. So many materials to procure, so many convoluted recipes, so many bottlenecks if you don't wanna gather/hunt yourself...
And making the lower level dishes does not really generate any profit and they are quite useless for imperial delivery (i.e. prof. boxes) since they aren't better than simply buying and handing in Master boxes (I am Master 6 at the moment).
I do have a lot of Milk, Eggs, Chicken Meat, I farm Special Onions, but most dishes that use those need a lot more other stuff as well. I wonder if I really have to just spam pickles to Guru like I did to get to Master in the first place lol.
that what i done lol.. just buy a bunch of potato wheat and corn and afk cook for a few night till guru..

I've been wanting to start cooking, but my main problem is i dont know who to cook on. I hear like processing you want weight, so maybe my main/grinder- but then i also only see people who have a parked alt. Also sometimes i hear characters should have an afk and an active lifeskill
Most people have one main lifeskiller who has all the weight. Alts are more common for farming, fishing and sometimes gathering.

You can buy lightstones off the market and get artifacts from a quest that drops at a low chance when handing in imperial cooking boxes.
@@summer_rains thx for responding and for the pic. The pic reccommends crystals with weight. I just got a crystal with 10 cooking mastery. So that pic must be outdated
@@synx6988 oh right you're g36. Yeah you can run full mastery crystals. They're a steep investment but worth it in the long run.

Drying 100 weeds will also give you haystack which you put on your farm which turnes into a cow 😁
