- In this video, we'll look at three ways to make money with cooking in Black Desert Online: cooking for byproducts, imperial cooking and market cooking.
Cooking for profit can require quite a lot of mastery but I'll show methods to make money even at lower mastery brackets.

~~~~~~Update #2 (January 2023)~~~~~~
PA keeps rolling events that give 1 second cook time reduction.
With these events, you can reach 1 second cook time, or close to it, with mastery clothes (requires the Canape outfit).
->This is the setup you want to go for if you cook a lot:
- Advanced/Supreme utensil (-1s)
- Canape Clothes (-2s)
- Alch Stone: Sharp (-1.4s) / Khan's (-1.3s) / Resplendent (-1.7s)
- Fundamentals of cooking lightstone set (-2s)
- Seafood Cron Meal (-0.6s)
- Verdure Draught (-1s)
- Event buff (-1s)
- Mastery clothes of your choice: tet loggia, tri/tet roroju and tet manos are all good choices depending on how much you cook.
Total: 1.0s / 1.1s (+ lag) cook time depending on your alch stone.
If you only cook for daily imperials or for CP, this setup is not super necessary, and silver embroidered clothes work just fine. But for market cooking it's pretty much mandatory as long as the -1s cook time events are around.
~~~~~~Update (October 2022)~~~~~~
Since I made this video, cooking has seen two significant updates:
1) Price caps on some items, including milk and eggs, have been raised.
2) Onion, pepper, hot pepper and garlic can be exchanged from special into white/HQ (see czcams.com/video/6AMvMVFkx4U/video.html)
Those items are no longer considered a bottleneck.
That means:
- Cooking for byproducts: It's viable to sell milk to the market. Though processing it into cheese is still a profitable overnight activity.
- Imperials: You can buy most items that were previously considered a bottleneck. For example, you could theoretically buy all items to craft Balenos meals (whether you do so is up to you).
- Market cooking: Recipes that include milk and eggs have significantly higher mastery requirements than before since they're not bottlenecked anymore. Make sure to calculate profits before cooking using bdolytics (see video 3 of the series: czcams.com/video/59IV20M1mao/video.html).
Overall, the market situation is still similar to when I made that video. Low-mastery cooks can make money by cooking for byproducts and imperials, while market cooking (for the most part) has steep mastery requirements.
Will update ya if more things change.

How much mastery do you need to make all cook for milk worth it ?
@@neverending5316 Really depends on what else you could do instead of cooking. Cooking for byproducts can be worth at any mastery, and you can check the profit at your mastery on bdolytics.com/cooking/market
Now bracken have node in new map..😊
everytime I try to get away from BDO some Chad of the community drops a banger of a vid and then I wanna play again
At guru 49 you stare into the endless abyss and it smiles back to you.
😅
Nice one. You put a lot of work into this video
year for all of us, for so- it's still ongoing. i respect you for being honest as that's what's been keeping a bit sane recently, just being
Awesome, thats my type of video, thank you for sharing :)
Nicely explained!
Keep it up
I know tNice tutorials is an old video but I’m new and thank god I finally found you . Thank you for such an amazing and helpful video ❤️
Amazing work. Keep it up. Hope to see more lifeskill videos like this
Amazing tutorial well edited
"The cook she tells you not to worry about" - priceless this
Great video ! Actually expected this to be a pretty dumb video again since most people have pretty bad videos on this but you actually have a pretty good video on cooking. Hope to see more
thanks :) Still kinda new to this CZcams thing but I think this video turned out alright.
Amazing Video dude
What a masterpiece of a guide!
Thanks again Summer!
awesome video good jobea
Would love to see an updated version of this including butchery minigame, chest rng etc and the current hunter numbers including min-maxing the heads to 3 hour buffs, trade item craft etc. No one puts out the numbers especially for 3 different mastery tiers.
Best cooking guide i have ever watched by far. Up to this video will cover 75% of the journey to Guru profit. Should perfectly help beginners too.
Thanks. I'm curious. In your eyes, what is the last 25%?
@@summer_rains What's in the 4th video. Optimization of the money making off cooking.
Nice explanations! Please make a guide/math explanation for cooking/processing cron meal ! Thanks!
I may make one in the future.
My only concern is that making meals for the market (and therefore cron meals) is only accessible to high mastery players.
So I'm not sure how many people such a video would be relevant to.
@@summer_rains Really appreciate your effort, thanks!
could listen to you talk for hours haha, know everything your talking about in the vid man but much like VaatiVidya on youtube, you got a buttery voice, keep up the amazing work!
hey thanks :)
Sounds like i should just go sit at SE for 2 hours a day and not stress about all this LOL
staying at guru for sure
three questions from newbie:
1) Should I use mastery scrolls for active gathering/hunting or rather on cooking?
2) do you want to tell me I'm actually inting while doing balenos for cm on relatively low mastery?
3) If I deduce right If I want to make money for cm cooking it is better to rather cook submeals than full meals if I have low mastery, ya?
Heya
1) Mastery scrolls are more valuable in cooking because the profit in cooking is much more sensitive to mastery than gathering/hunting
2) Purely in terms of profit, cooking Balenos meals can be less money than cooking spammable recipes at lower mastery. The details depend on your server and market prices of course.
Example for current EU prices and 800 mastery (what I reckon most people have at ~guru1)
- Balenos meals for imperials (profit compared to buying): 43 mil/H - i.imgur.com/ljF7at5.png
- Balenos meals for the market: 4 mil/H - i.imgur.com/47VbQn7.png
- Pickled vegetables for the market: 47 mil/H - i.imgur.com/tSauknL.png
Still, Balenos meals are solid EXP. So you could decide to take a slight hit in profit to level cooking and gain higher mastery.
3) yup
What I hope to convey in this video is that compared to before the lightstone update, cooking meals (even for imperials) is not a no-brainer decision anymore but actually a decision where you have to weigh your alternatives.
As someone who cooked 500 billion worth of meals in the last two years, I would say this is a good guide, I am currently making 3 bill an day cooking with 1950 mastery ( i invested 200 bill into life gear to reach this mastery)
LOL dude! 2 years of cooking omg!
@@flameshock2586 lol yeah i cook for money and pvp for fun . bought 700 gs with cooking money hahaa
you can't reach that mastery with full tet manos acc, you must have some pen acc, lucky you
@@ghury1 thiknk you need at least 3 Pen manos acc to get that high
Holy lord do you have a woman in your life? Do you have a life?
My biggest bottle neck on NA is buying cooking tools from MP as i don't have too much time to gather my own mats during the week.
I just turn in the 500 imperial seals for the Supreme Utensil. I know they are technically more expensive than Advanced, but I just like the fact that they have the 5000 durability, and you just pick them up at the Imperial Vender.
We got cooking tools Always sitting on the market, come to EU and bring some of these thousands of costumes with you, thanks Mate 🙏❤️
why do i felt this so complicated :D i am at guru 2 for the past year . and do only pickle vegie for imper. gettin like 60mill a day with 350 contri points ...
🙏
can you do the same video series for alchemy?
I might do a video or two on alchemy in the future
I have watched the entire first cooking guide video and was left with a proper "wtf, how is this even gonna be profitable". The first 5 minutes of this video answer all of such questions. I feel like this should have been included in the first video, the cutoff point of the first video was not favorable in my opinion :D.
fair enough
@@summer_rains Nonetheless it gave me the kick in the butt I needed to finally get my cooking to Guru, so thanks for that :D. Kinda feels weird to buy 1 mil Paprika, but at least I will probably have a year's worth of imp boxes to hand in afterwards :D.
How is pickled vegetables infinite if you need to gather grain either yourself or by workers/farming?
Your can buy all the ingredients off the market or from vendors
which font family are you using in game? :D
Roboto (medium) you can get it here: fonts.google.com/specimen/Roboto
any chance to get more videos? :3
am working on it
@@summer_rains thanks for answer also if may i ask do we get any trading/making crates guide? or its completly not in ur lifeskill playstyle
@@treapl273 heya, I'm not doing trading at all so I'd be the wrong person to make a trading guide :P
how to consistently get fruit? all of them are permanently sold out on the market, its kinda insane
there's a fruit vendor in Calpheon, Milano Belucci
all this time purified water was a vendor item
I've tried cooking Vinegar at 1008 mastery for one hour straight at 1 sec/craft and only received 201 witche's delicacy, insteas of 300. Am I doing something wrong?
It's just very high variance. Over a few thousand crafts it's gonna average out
Thanks for the quick reply. So that means I just had a stroke of bad rng. Also thank you for the in depth guides, a lot of effort went into them and they really helped a lot👌. Here's to more guides and viewership.👍
Would supply/demand ever get affected?
What are you referring to specifically?
hum 19:07 I dont think it a good idea to get TET manos Accessories with the same/less money you can get PEN manos Clothes. but good video keep it up
Hey thanks. There are lots of ways someone could improve the gear set-ups and recipe selection to be more efficient than in the overview. The specific setup in this video is more of an example of how a setup with e.g. 1.4k cooking and 1.6k hunting mastery could look like :P
what is the necklace that u wearing?
Pen Geranoa necklace, gives 5 mastery more than Tet manos, which gives me an extra bracket for cooking
@@summer_rains where can i get it?
@@iamz9919 at the market
400 CP good stopping point and you have 450...^^
😎
