I stayed at the Savoy and Belmont Hotel last March. They are a sister company and Yes, they will give you a bracelet so you can use the beach for free.
I told them I didn't want to eat but that was the only option Brent so I had a burger/salisbury steak and left the rice, took some video and pics and left to meet a friend.
They did the something in Puerto Rico, but some great volggers have taken those people and politicians to court and won alot of beaches back to the public thanks to God
that whole island is one big rip off......i paid an entrance fee....and later when i try to go swimming....they come up to me and say....that costs extra....if they could charge extra for me to breath ....they would....
Rod.. how's your shoulder doing are you pretty much 70 80% where you want to be what about therapy I haven't heard too much about that and your videos lately?? I might have missed it but I watch 95% of your videos we watch I should say for years we're not ones for commenting all the time... Very knowledgeable and enjoyable video s you produce.. the both of you stay happy well and we love your condos at macktown.. we always welcome a new one... Okay we've taken enough of your time.. stay above ground brother..
I stayed at the Savoy Hotel in December '22, it's a nice hotel, it was just a little hectic getting checked-in due to a group of airline passengers also checking-in due to a canceled flight and we weren't allowed to use the restaurant because only the airline passengers were allowed to dine, lol.
Belmont across the street from Savoy had free beach access when staying (Jan 2024) construction was on going at that time so I guess it's now complete. I heard the parasailing was around 5k
Sad. In 2009 when I first came to visit my wife I liked to walk all over the Island. And I ate in the low and medium range cafe's and bars. I could do a lot on a modest budget. Glad to see you are still posting Rod.
Think we did a tour that went all around Ilonggo Island, bunch of peeps went, swimming on the sandbars was the biggest attraction on the tours, loved it though. That does look like a nice beach though, most of the beaches I have seen are pretty rocky around Mactan Island. Thanks for the video, Rod...Jim
Even in Argao and Moalboal there's a charge to use the beach. But at those places it's by locals and stays local. I don't like when huge corporations come in and take over a "public area" like this. In the end they're just trying to sell the idea of a private beach in their advertising.
Stayed at Savoy last week and they shuttle guest to the beach on a set schedule in the lobby.Beds are concrete though😂Taste of Luciano across and to the left of Newtown is a very very good Italian restaurant. Thanks for another great video

Good video rod. The rice and trash food combo is normal for the Phil. Sad food for a "resort"!
That's a shame they blocked out the Filipinos from using the beach without paying.
I told them I didn't want to eat but that was the only option Brent so I had a burger/salisbury steak and left the rice, took some video and pics and left to meet a friend.
They have owned the beach for over 10 years and finally took charge of it...
@@bigbearhugebear9018 The Philippines Government OWNS the beach.

@@AmazingPhilippines1 When you buy a condo the beach is included in your ownership papers. So all the venders were squatters.
Thank goodness. I hate the stupid crowds in the Philippines.

That's absolutely pathetic. Phil is really a scam in many ways.

Many thanks Christopher. My shoulder has a long way to go. Maybe have to go back to the USA to get a new one at some point.
That's pretty sad - both for the Philippine people that used the beach and the visitors who now have to pay. 👎 Good video.

I stopped by Sovoy to see if I needed to pay there and they seemed way understaffed for checking people in. Quite hectic with a long wait time.

15meters from the water(high tide) is actually a government land. No land owner has a sole rights to it. Everyone can use that 15meters!
Thanks. As always great info. 👍
I agree. It was a fun place with options before but now you are locked in to their system and limited food choice.
HI ROD Yes you said it correctly, It's called para sailing.
It was a fun place before. Now absolutely no food or drink allowed so you are locked in to their system with few food choices.
One of the few public resources turned over to a private crappy place for extorting money while serving disgusting food.

Correct, most beaches are a bit rocky except where the resorts have hauled in "white sand" Jim.
Looks beautiful
Yes, nice beach.
I don't like it, and will not be going there. Looks stale. And unwelcoming. Thanks for the update.

Yes, lots of restricted "resort" beaches on Mactan John.

Thanks for the info!
Hi Rod looks very different indeed
Looks great.
Yes, they changed it a lot Manuel.
basic supply and demand prices as there are few natural beaches on Mactan, diba?
I have enjoyed Olango Is day trip in the past. I feel that beachfront should be freely publicly accessible as is on Boracay
is there any white sand beach on olango ?
@@photobudha no. you go to Olango for the wildlife preserve and snorkeling
It all about money now. 500p or more to go to a beach ...no way I would do that...
They should offer day use without the meal Doug, in my opinion.
Prefer it the old way. We walked there a few weeks ago and were refused entry .....we guessed it was now private. Such a shame.
👍
🙀
Looks like shit. Got rid of the sand.
Way over priced
