I think the most interesting is the 75u8n, because the ADS panel + 2000 backlight zones. I.e. there are no problems with viewing angles + 2000 backlight zones should be enough to offset the low contrast of the ADS panel
There are quite a lot of 75" flagships on the VA and the U8n stands out for this

I have some idea. HUMAN are BIASED. They Assert standards, or fomulars in our brain. So what we do is Decide since same model it should be same Engine.
But if ALL the BMW X5 Sedan - mini SUV the SAME engine. Same price, who the hell buys Sedan? If they wanna buy SUV, they have to pay More. But in Marketing , Tier, pricing. Giving ppl Sedan/SUV same price will Actually Degrade the SUV. Cuz thats the standard price then the Sedan will be seen as the--BAD Value.--this is talked in Marcketing lecture about BMW, n SONY TV. Lol. 😊
So if they get 55” n Giving ALL the bells n whistles, but Customers DO NOT WANT to pay MORE than Sedan for the SUV price. (They will have CAP how much they are willing to pay for 55”) u can NOT charge them for HOW much it COST to make the TV. (When gets higher end, u have to pay more). It will LOWER the BRAND IMAGE/VALUE selling at SUCH LOW price ( hello FLAGSHIP at $799 LOL) 😂
The exact same reason TCL does NOT make Qm8 in- 55”, they only make 65” or larger. NOR SONY X95L less than 85”.
Ppl use 55” will sit MUCH CLOSER. That 55” is BRIGHT Enough, Upgraded everything from U8K. Ppl just WANT to have “CHEAP “ but Best for Little money. 💰 They do NOT sell U8N in China in 55” this year. Hisense U8K U8N are their Last shot for ANYONE who wants VERY high end TV for utter low price. No other brands are producing it except like maybe those LG G3 G4 (for single young Gammers who has Video phile or Gamming addiction)

Happy to have found your channel, you do great reviews! A couple questions:
I’m considering a 75”-85”. I’ve seen you’ve reviewed the U6N, U7N and this. Do you have any recommendation based on your reviews of which model might be good for which type of users? The prices are a wide range, and the U7N seems like it could be the good sweet spot of performance for the money. The U8N seems great, and the U6N seems like it could be pretty good. We generally stream TV shows, movies, and use the antenna for sports and local channels. Not a ton of gaming. Currently have a 55” 2018 Vizio P Series.
Also wondering if you will review the QD7 eventually? I’m curious about that if I were to consider just getting an 85” given the significant $ savings. I wouldn’t want to take a ton of loss in picture quality and performance of the TV.

The 55 inch UN8 has 1 dimming zone per 34mm^2, while the 65 inch version has 1 dimming zone per 37mm^2. So basically the 55 inch version has a slightly higher density of dimming zones despite only having 672 of them vs the 1600 of the 65 inch model. What these means is that black levels, highlights and low bloom performance should basically be the same between the two TVs, in fact the 55 inch version should have a very slight edge.
Also for the size, the 55-inch H8N has a great peak brightness value. I don't think people realize that pixels are typically smaller with a smaller pitch when compared to bigger size TVs. This means it's not easy to drive the smaller models harder in other to match the brightness of their bigger siblings without running into heat issues that could damage the pixels.
Anyone calling the 55" inch H8N a downgrade or not "the real 2024 model" just doesn't know what they're saying.

      1. From the research I did TCL tend to be more reliable than Hisense either way an extended warranty is highly recommended
      2. TCL are the supplier for other companies when it comes to VA panels
      3. One of the things that makes U8N appealing is on 75” it uses the ADS pro (IPS) that has better viewing angles than VA this would lead to less contrast.
If the QM8 is marginally more expensive (200-300 CAD) and has adequate viewing angles I would probably go with that. The QM7 from what I know so far has poor reflection handling and I have big bright window.

I don’t argue maybe this TV picture quality one of the best and it can compete with big companies like Samsung LG or Sony but I think the aesthetic look of the product is also important. For example this TV from aesthetic point is far behind of that companies that I mentioned look at the back of this TV it’s like 2010 or eight it’s too thick and aesthetically. It doesn’t look good at all. Yes I understand you are not gonna go stand right next to your TV and look at it. You’re gonna sit on your couch and watch your TV but let’s imagine you have a beautiful house, your TV is hanging on the wall and from the side I think it’s not gonna look good at all

I'm not a professional reviewer or even youtuber but would really like to see these professional youtubers like Tech Steve, Stop The Fomo, Digital Trends start covering panel differences a bit more in depth. What are you giving up when selecting the IPS ADS Pro panel in the 75 vs. the VA panel in the 65 and 85? I covered it in a basic video on my channel on my 2023 U8K 75" but these reviewers have access to more TVs. 65 and 75 is the current current sweet spot and if I was losing enough picture quality with the IPS ADS panel in the 75", maybe I'd buy the 65" or pony up the extra for the 85" instead.

    • @TechSteve
      @TechSteve  Před 2 měsíci

Most of us don’t get different size panels, TV storage and cost is expensive for us being smaller channels. We don’t have large showrooms with a large electronic stores paying for products to review like a Best Buy

    • @24hourgmtchannel64
      @24hourgmtchannel64 Před 2 měsíci

@TechSteve completely understand and thanks for responding. To add to my previous comment and of course this is just my opinion but 55" can be removed from the equation. Manufacturers like Hisense are even signaling this by packing less in their upper end 55 models. I hope to see more 75" reviews because I believe most who follow your channel and the other professional reviewers have become more interested in this size and with different panel sourcing, a positive review on a 55 VA panel can be opposite on a 75. Other than panel sourcing availablity, I'm still at odds with why Hisense uses a IPS- ADS Pro panel on their 75 and as far as I know has done so since the U8H. This is probably why the 2020 release H9G was only offered up to 65" which I miss mine. To be honest if I'm looking up a particular model and the reviewer is showing a 55, I won't watch it. More or less the 55" size has become the bedroom TV these days where picture quality takes a back seat to cost.

Just remember not everyone pays that close attention to TVs, my mother purchased a $265 65” TCL last year and she was happy as hell. They did for the larger ones . The 55” usually u sit so close , it’s def gotten better Proceddor , Larger memmory 30% more , better Bloomjng control , those are big fine toning .
In Pricing/tier/markting . Ppl willing to pay 💰 for 🥩 beefy Truck 🛻, but u put HUGE engine in small 2Door coup , make coup pricier , not only will mess up Coup sale (raising price) but ppl want small coup don’t need 🥩 beefy engine. They can pay 💰 extra 💰💰💰 for BMW X3 for M3 engine as extra but it doesn’t come automatic .
If they put famous M3 engine in x 335i , it will LOWER brand (with that tier n Price tag) -- over all value .
The same reason TCL QM8 do NOT sell in 55” , SONY x95” don’t sell 75” or smaller . Samsung Qn90C only has famous ADS-PRO panel in 55” or larger . But 50” is VA (do not put best in the small size , not healthy )
Consumers want play the “I want beat but pay least “GAME .
but there ppl want U8K U8N for smalll room , they will have pick their battle .
Its so zoom in small screen u won see much difference . Giving too much upgrades , they will want to pay nothing extra . So just decent upgrade lots fine toning for 55” is reasonable

      The 65” U8K has 165000:1 contrast, 65” U8N has 290000:1 contrast. 65” Sony x90L only has 42000:1
      Dynamic Contrast(when local dimming off).
      U8K -- 7500:1 , U8N -10000:1. SONY x93L -2150:1
Color Volume U8K is 1 hair away from Samsung S95B level . The U8N this year has COLOR VOLUME match Samsung S95C.

@@stevegabriel6982 the 100 U8N is exactly the same TV as the 100 U8K, it’s essentially just rebadged for this year. Hisense were pretty upfront about this back at CES. If you want to wait for this year’s tech at that size, then the 98UX will be your boy. Mid-to-late summer, and an MSRP of $7999, (which, knowing Hisense will mean $6999 a month later.)

As I understand it, almost NO TV has a TRUE 10 bit panel. In almost all cases it's some kind of 8 bit with software and various modes of interpolation. I think this is because, even today. A TRUE 10 bit panel is just NOT cost effective for most manufacturers, it's just too expensive. So I do NOT understand why ANYONE is talking about 10 bit. Who has a True 10 bit panel. When you look at the specs it's almost never there. It's always 8 bit or 8+, whatever that is?

Sony X90L, TCL qm8 , Samsung QN series and more are 10bit panels . It all depends on your budget

Hisense is a scammy company because releases Google tvs in US to get good reviews and in other markets you get the same model with VIDAA OS.

What i hate in this expensive smart tvs, is that you pay a lot of money, they are full of bloatware, you can't uninstal them, and they use s..ty cpu! It takes forever fo change a channel!

My only goal is to save someone, anyone from the horrors that come along with owning a Hisense TV. For the full version of my story and many similar stories. Just Google ‘Hisense problems’ or ‘I hate Hisense’. Their TVs are horrible and unreliable. I believe they have the worst reliability rating of all major manufacturers. And the Customer Service is just as bad. So if you have any issues, even if under warranty, good luck getting them to address it. As I write this I’m ‘Hard Reseting’ my TV probably for the 12th or more time. That’s back to factory settings. It will not fix any issues, for more than a minute. So please take my / our advice and just don’t purchase a Hisense TV. No matter how good it looks or how cheap it is.

@@rob1261a first one I bought was a very cheap 55” from walmart. It died about two years later. I bought a warranty plan from Walmart that replaced it so I wasn’t upset. Next time I purchased the Hisense H9G. It had a great picture but the screen would turn purple for almost a minute at a time then turn back to normal. Returned it to Best Buy and never bought another Hi sense. That was 5 years ago. Don’t know if their QC has gotten any better.

Samsung Cu8000 55", you tube app, very good colour and contrast. Always a bit of shimmer with high detail, the lines on back of TV. Colours look great. A little banding on blue area before Ferris wheel. Blacks look great on your screen, but fade a bit on mine. Very balanced, life-like picture overall. Please stay in HDR, as there is more content in SDR 🙃
