So if you want to know how Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Rithik Ghatak, Mahanayak Uttamkumar, Mahanayika Suchitra Sen and others portrayed the society.Call Satyajit Ray's son Sandeep Ray, he has a very good knowledge of the movies of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s.How his father and other filmmakers helped in its development. And you will get to know how artists and artists of that time worked (especially Mahanayaka Uttamkumar, Soumitra Chatterjee, Uppal Dutta, Bhanu Banerjee, Mahanayika Suchitra Sen, Supriyadevi etc.).

If you really want to know what is called real films, watch
    1) pather panchali(Satyajit Ray)
    2)Apur Sansar(Satyajit Ray)
    3) Devi(Satyajit Ray)
    4) Aranya din ratri(Satyajit Ray)
    5) Meghe Dhaka tara(Ritwik Ghatak)
    6)Titas ekti Nodir naam(Ritwik Ghatak)
    7)MahaNagar(Satyajit Ray)
    8)Padatik(Mrinal Sen)
    9)Mrigaya(Mrinal Sen)
    10)Titli(Rotuparno Ghosh)
    11)Simabadha(Satyajit Ray)
    12) The Holly Man(Satyajit Ray)
    13)Abhijan(Satyajit Ray)
    14) Tin Kanya(Satyajit Ray)
These are few films you must watch before dying.
After watching those films, I can guarantee no one will enjoy Bollywood films any more. Bollywood will take 5 births to make such films! Due to Marketing strategy Bollywood has gone very far but when it is about Director and acting, that era of Bengali film always will be on the top.
Bollywood must learn watching the above mentioned films, what is called A REAL FILM.

Discussion is good. But Bengali, Tamil, Telugu etc are not regional languages. All languages are Indian & flimsy made are Indian flimsy.
      Hindi also an Indian language.

What was that self pity shit? Absolutely nonsense hosting by Ranveer. There are good films and there are bad films. Ray and Ghatak were world class film malers who would make 100 times better films on any topic than most.

As an ardent Guru Dutt fan, I genuinely feel you should at least have the decency to watch and understand the movies of Guru Dutt to even bring him in the conversation. I understand it’s just a stunt for you but it hurts me when you talk about him as if you have a point of view on his work without even watching and studying his work. Bro, you didn’t even watch Pyaasa which is probably his most highly acclaimed film. I would rather have you dislike him after following his work then to act as if you admire his profound contribution to the history of Indian cinema by watching one sixth of just Pyaasa.

  • @SayantanChakraborty-ub7ei

Kudos to RR to put up with this discussion. Host hasn't done enough preparation at all. It's a crime to claim that someone has watched 1/6th of a masterpiece like pyasa and talking about Indian films.
On a side note, bollywood isn't everything. Please note that other language movies have been blessed with great storytellers as well. I find especially bengali, marathi and Malayalam movie-makers as phenomenal.
