      The best to you! We need more channels that treat gerbils (and every other animal) as more than just "pets"; but as unique animals to themselves. I really hope to watch your vids. I've had gerbils for over 40 years, and I'm still learning from people like Fins and Whiskers and yourself. I luv sites that r both entertaining and informative.

    Hey, thanks! I get so frustrated when people get animals like gerbils because they're "cute", without realizing that gerbils require specific care; and that they're a unique species that has it's own social structure. Plus, you don't just tell us about things like diet and environment, but how to make the gerbils life more entertaining for them. It's been really nice to watch your site.

Cookie is white and dark black-ish brown, she nibbles alot and chews on my sleeves! Sandy is the biggest and oldest gerbil, she had a very unique sand color. she basicly adopted cookie and fawn :D

    Uh- sorry for asking so many questions im sure its annoyibg but i got two female gerbils about 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden one became very wobbly and her eyes were pinned shut. She everntually got better but then it happened again and she unfortunately passed. Fast forward a couple days my current gerbil is having the same sypmotoms. Its been two days and i moved her from a 60 gal to a 20 gal with half of her old bedding and half new. A new water dish,and a new hide. I only put like 3 inches of bedding (she hasent burrowed since her sister got sick) the only good vet I found was one for regular animals and exotic pets. But theres only 3 exotic vets so theyre only open on mondays and sundays. So i have to wait all week... For food... should i give her soft foods like small amounts of banana and cooked carrots? Or just her regular seed mix? I dont know why they got sick. It may have been because the breeder breeded with a sick gerbil. But they are the only place that sells gerbils! Sorry for bothering i just dont know what to do anymore.

    Interesting video, and pollen is a new one to me! :)
    But you are wrong about one thing, Gerbils have an excellent sense of smell (normally at least), and I'm pretty sure I've seen that in a research paper too (I'd have to dig around to find it), I don't know how well it compares to Hamsters mind you.

    • @finsandwhiskers
      @finsandwhiskers  Před 4 lety +3

      I meant in comparisons to hamsters :) Also I tried hiding sugary treats in cardboard with hay stuffed inside as well and they didn’t bother with the inside for a while. Their sense of smell is certainly strong, but a bit limited

      A 20g is bare minimum, 40g is recommended for a pair but you’ll need a cage topper, and my personal favorite is a 50g long or more as you can just add a divider to separate bedding from wheel/water/sand

    Hello, I would like to inform everyone that using cardboard from delivery packages/drink holders ect are very bad for your gerbils or any other animal because due to covid, companies are spraying these with chemicals that could make your gerbil/any other animal sick. I’m not the best at typing lol sorry
