I also know something that helps in first touches - holding down the right stick. When my striker is about to receive the ball at speed and I know that the defender will dispossess him when he touches the ball, I tap the RS button and the direction I want to go to and it gives me a little bit of space by lifting the ball off the ground. It also helps draw in fouls when the AI is auto-programmed to perform a clean slide tackle when you touch the ball.

@@_Pala RS button means pressing down the right analogy stick. You wiggle for directions and press for button.
I remember learning this on PS2. This thing was always powerful on PES it was great when diving header was over power

i cant believe iv skipped over this video for nearly 3 years , an now iv watched an understood the super cancel the game has completely changed for me. the only things i ever disliked about pes 2021 was that i could rarely dribble past players unless its pure pace, and that i would give away so many fouls every game. this has made the game so much more fun again!

Absolutely important. Super Cancel gives you illimite freedom on controlling your player to do what you want. I always place these tutorials about Super Cancel above all. You may not be able to perform every other skill of the player, but if you excel in Super Cancel and in recognising how to use it properly, then you may not need them... In PES 20, the Super Cancel covered a lot the lack of awareness of the AI when in game and I suppose that this will happen in this edition too. So, don't be afraid to use the Super Cancel and you will achieve things you can't even imagine. Have a nice time!
When I started using super-cancel, I would forget how to use other controls. When learning a new skill, you tend to overdo it and in the process you forget what you've previously learnt. It wasn't until 3 months later that I got used to it.
One thing, among others, that I enjoy about it is the ability to launch a long ball from my own half and use super-cancel to nudge the last defender, leaving me in a one-on-one situation

Been using this technique since I played Winning Eleven 3. Dominated the game with Boca Juniors (Delgado as my star player), Liverpool (Gerard, I never play Michael Owen lol), Real Sociedad (Karpin, Nihat, Kovacevic) back then LOL

Does anyone use an elite pad? Wondered about getting one and if it helped with the super cancel?
Spoony that's a whole new level of playing with Supercancel on that level you showed. Now I have no doubts why you can challenge Legend and also have fun. You said the big truth though in one of the situations: "can not program". That is what breaks AI programming and can "fix" the "scripted - programmed" outcome of a situation (in general).
We could say it is an exploit against AI as it is not programmed for human freedom lol. But that is why human vs. COM and not semi COM vs. COM.
I already using it even from PES5-6 but not with that master level... I usually stuck to AI in lot of cases when I should not. I will focus on mastering it as I like freedom and the clips where very very stunning (I know it is a highlight). :)
But not only supercancel but using "most effective skills", combined with various type of shots, passes. That's high level art - much better than online ping-pong. :)
To be honest I use less supercancel as pressing R1+R2 is not comfortable as usually I use my 3 fingers to hold the controller, one on R1 or R2.. and for supercancel I need to let the controller a bit and not super ready for supercancel. I think I need to change the grip.. pressing L2 is not comfortable too while aiming.
Do you use back buttons or anything? Default PS4 controller? I dont think back button would help maybe with L2.
Wow I started focusing more on super cancel when fighting for the ball and positioning when getting pass, through ball there are so many situations where it can be useful... It is a whole new world (probably need lot of time to be natural I try with the grip where both my fingers are on R1 and R2 :D)... Definitely makes big difference not mentioning the fun of the freedom where you can just shake your head why player did not move better... of course AI does not move for you that good. :D
Actually the lofted through balls now has any meaning and the offensive headers. :)
My mistake was I did not hold the Super cancel. If I remember properly at PES5-6 it was enough to press once then you got the freedom.. now if you let it the AI will drag you again for the intended position which is totally fine that way.
Actually the game is more fun I feel me playing more now. Manual controls would be the next step lol.
New grip makes me grip the controller with less power so doing R2 skill and not overshooting buttons are also welcome. I still use harder grip for the left side.
Easy to overuse super cancel but for a simple through ball the player arrives differently with that. More agility, speed like you mentioned, etc. Supercancel pass shoot will be my next troll against computer if it let's me. Why not. :D I solved everything with passes so far and that extra tiny movements make it more colourful and efficient. More variety more fun not just spamming same moves.
I didn't get notified of this comment and only found through scrolling. Glad you can see the unlimited possibilities of super cancel. There's even more you can do such as super cancelling skills and chaining a new skill from it.

I play both Fifa and Pes. The thing with pes is you have more time with the ball, it feels like you play real strategy football. You can feel the difference between good players and so so player when they pass, shoot, positioning, make run etc.
In fifa it doesnt really feel like football it is more like sprinting game. Players with 90+ speed always play like god even if they are low in overall. It relies so much on pace. If you dont have sprinters, its hard to score through balls.

Super cancel is the difference between a decent player and next level. It takes time to master (I'm nowhere near) but making it part of your game will help you improve massively!!!

I just moved to 2021 from 2020 and its way harder to score now. ML default lineup, pro level.
Super cancel is a must now as every goalie is De Gea now apparently and the ref cheating is at the worst levels ever.
Defenders slide tackle you from behind all the time with no calls.
Super cancel works for attacks quite well as you need to fake alot to make room. Also the aiming seems off, or much more finicky and i say this as with default players they keep missing when they would always score in 2020.
After I hit the post 9 times in one game I realized some games the fix (script) is in and your screwed. 😀 great vids Spoony!!

During corners, when i use super cancel, i dun tend to gain control of the player that i have intended to control. Is it a timing issue or do i have to press down the right stick?
Power up corner then hold player select and flick R-stick in direction of player you want to select
To cut inside what I usually do is control the movement of the player on the receiving end without super cancel and then holding down R3 with sprint on which allows me to quickly create space. A neat trick when you have a fast forward that can use that break and has good finishing. Spoony, I got a question. How can I practice my shots? I know how to choose the shot type, which positions are usually good and all that. My issue is that when it comes to placing the shot myself, I usually just blast it towards a general direction unless I'm chipping it in. Another issue I have is long range goals, I have the players that could easily take those. How should I practice shot placing and power, full Free Training?
Full free training is a great place to start
How to intercept passes in PES 2021?
I told my mates one decade ago when we were playing PES 5/6. If you want to play like a pro, u have to be good at using super-cancel, manual passing and manual control GK. If you want to get to another level, try to master all of these three skills.

Hi Spoony. Any tips on how to get back into a game online when you’re losing? Players seem to be stuck in mud. Passing less sharp and crisp, more slow and inaccurate. Every shot seems to go off target, saved etc. Any way of getting back into the game when it’s like this?
As soon as you concede, you can score straight back from kick-off. Just don't give the ball away as your opponent will struggle control his players. It's called kickoff bug and it's the best time to score
How does this work if you use the alternate controller settings similar to FIFA?

Nope, well, fake shot and then super cancel (you'll see an example of this in the Neymar video)
How to cutt passing lanes in PES 2021?
This is weird but I've been using L1 and L2 for "super cancel" for the last year and it works, I mean I dont use it to do all these awesome skills but i use it to cancel actions like passes and shots or to stop my player running towards a ball that's definitely going out. Is that even the same feature? I play on alternate BTW so maybe that's why
Hmm what is L1 and L2? For me R1 and R2 is sprint and special controls (jockey without ball)
Hi Spoony, your videos are great. I have a question when defending. When the attacker receives the ball with his back on my defender, he always makes a turn and shoots easily. How do you avoid this? It's driving me crazy. Thanks!
Change tactics, so you're not defending edge of your box. Front line pressure and aggressive and a defensive line of 8 or more. You'll find this happens far less
Don't get too tight to the attacker. Take control of your defender, back off a yard instead and then block shots, make a tackle.
The earlier you do this the easier it is to make the blocks etc. While they have possession you can take control of your CB and move him around so he's always ready to make a tackle when/if the ball comes through. Let the ball come through to their attacker, let them turn so about to face you and then move in to block tackle.
Useful tactics when it's really hard to get the ball off them.. When it feels like all the richochets fall to them

As a casual player my head aches after watching that!😂 How long should you press the buttons for? At what point in the move should you apply it? Do you have to manually select the relevant player? Is this something best tried in the practice/training mode?
Just hold them down, it gives you total control of your player :)
So you use RB to jockey, or LB? Does it work like FIFA where your man will auto block if your holding it?

I'm really struggling defensively at the moment. I follow a runner with my selected player and use the computer press to approach the ball carrier, but I'm finding they easily turn the defender without any sort of challenge happening. E.g I follow the runner on a 1-2 as this would result in an easy chance, but the 2nd player gets rolled very easily and they score anyway. Not sure if I'm just 2 slow changing player etc? I find even if I am the player they can comfortably run around me, which I don't understand as I'm unable 2 do this myself. Will look at trying this super cancel now. I also need 2 learn some skills and getting confused on the buttons a bit
You're not, defending is just ass right now. I hope they patch it. Its ridiculous how players act like there isn't even a ball there. This is especially true when crossing. I even manually moved a player in the path of the moving ball and he let it hit him as if the ball wasn't there. Utterly ridiculous from konamk
@@jaywalker_4629 well thanks for letting me know it's just not me. Gets very frustrating and I end up not doing anything and taking my chances on an opposition mistake rather than active defence. You mention crossing and I barely ever win defensive headers when I'm right there to clear it. It's quite frustrating when I'm trying my best and read the situation yet still suffer
@@curtismoore9971, I don't struggle too much with headers. I may be wrong, but I think there is a timing to it. I may he wrong. Sometimes the defending works well, but often times its just running into each other. Honestly, I think it's just the collision system they have and the new physical ways in which the players move that's the largest cause of it. So I'll be lenient on this criticism. As I said before, I hope they balance it out a bit in a patch
I struggle with it since pes 2019 and still the same at 21; that's why i'm still searchin' for the reason. And i totally understand what u say and how u feel in the game. I've contacted with many good pes players about it and ask them how they push against the opponent player on defense. I can do it easily on fifa with shoot button in the old days but it's impossible to do it on PES! But my rivals can do it! Here is what i know about this situation..First i wanna mention that i'm using secondary controls (Fifa like) so my shoot is B. First of all u have to use RB button (special controls) on OFFENSE like all other good players. When u got ball on first touch or when u see they r gonna push hard on u. So u r gonna control ball and they just can turn around u like u r doin' now on defense. Secret is RB button; that's why your players are like butterflies on defense; cause your opponent pushin' RB again n' again whenever he needs. That's it. And remember when u feel that he is not pushin' RB; go on him with RT+LT+A buttons (run button + manual control button + press button). U may try pushing A button again n' again if it makes difference. That's how i feel my defensive player can go stronger on him. That's all i can say for now and iknow there is still so many missing points. Damn. Anyway; good luck my friend.

I presume the special controls RB is like a strength glitch type thing happening. I also have the same issue on headers as I look in a brilliant position and don't win it even if I'm in front. I'm relatively knew to pes again after a few years so having 2 learn the hard way!

If u have the alternative set up it switches ur cross/shoot buttons and your R bumpers get flipped, meaning if u hold both anyway ou are still able to do this

The best fix, for me, was disabling all Game Bar recording options in Windows 10 settings. Smooth af now.

Hi mate, that's a good price but the reviews are a bit hit & miss. Good budget monitor though. Do you have a Nvidia card or AMD? Because this is a Freesync monitor (best for AMD cards to avoid screen tear). Definitely need GSync if you're rocking a Nvidia card.

In online mode there are always spaces in the defence which the opponent utilizes and I concede goals extremely cheaply.. How do I prevent this.. Advanced instructions are also of no use in this case😞
Defensive on your DM. Defensive compactness to max (so it's nice n tight) will help. Best to retreat to edge of your pen box (watch what Pros do) as passing through a high press is relatively easy).

Is it just me or does super cancel seem more efficient in PES 21 than PES 20 due to the improved responsiveness? The current positives sure has drawn plenty of praise for the season update gameplay.
Definitely mate ...sometimes in PES 2020 you would have to release it and engage it again cuz it just didn't work. No idea what caused that but I got used to it

I don't know, man. I have the feeling that in this game 50% of those tackles/pushes are clear fouls not given, like the example at 6:01.
Spoony, this does not work for me. It never has. What could possibly be the problem? I play with semi assist auto switching only on balls in the air on offense and I play with alternate FIFA controls. This has never worked for the last two years of this game. I watch your clips and I’ve said it before but it’s like we’re playing different games. Every time I do it, it works for a split second and then my guy freezes and loses any chance of ever winning the ball. It’s become so standard that I try to super cancel just to cut in between the goalie and the full back to try to jump his pass back to the goalie because I know regardless of the speed of the full back I can never beat them. Even w/ players like Zaha, currently. There has to be a wrong setting for me somewhere. I’ve held them down or tapped r1 and r2 and it’s only a split second reaction and then back to the scripted terrible angles. I know you hate the scripting complaint and maybe it’s not apparent w high team spirit but 85 and below it is just awful scripting. I’ll put my team on full attack when I’m down 1-0 because that’s a standard game for me on superstar and there will be a loose ball in the middle of the 18 box and all of my players will drop back in the 88 minute down a goal on full attack. If I put it on top player I win by 3, so I literally cannot play this game anymore, unless i get this figured out. It’s the same horrible scripted 1-0 or 1-1 game every single time. I’ve got to have something wrong. I had a ball in the box last game off the post in a 0-0 game and both center forwards dropped back on defense and they were within two strides of the ball. This game has become unplayable for me on SS unless I play w a great team.
Hi mate, goto training mode. Kick the ball into space with 0 opposition players on field and then WITHOUT super cancel, try and prevent your player getting the ball. Now, using super cancel, witness the freedom of movement that you can approach the ball from ANY angle by holding R1 + R2 (sprint and special controls). It definitely works mate, everyone's playing same game - all the pros use it too....infact most of the community. Doesn't matter which team you have, you can use San Marino (like I did) and it works
@@SpoonyPizzas I totally understand how it works in that situation and how it is supposed to work. In your videos, your timing and input shows onscreen and when you do it, your guys don't stop running or stutter step like mine do every time. I watched your tutorial for last years game at least 20 times and i've tried the trick you explain w Rashford about coming across the ball but it never works for me. I'm not kidding you when I say I'll be shoulder to shoulder w/ Wilf Zaha and if I don't use supercancel, Zaha just loses to the slower defender. If I use super cancel, as soon as I activate super cancel, Zaha (for this example) will either completely stop running before starting again and cpu gets ball or he will stutter step just to allow the cpu AI to stay ahead. There's no way you haven't seenthis happen w/ the time you've put in. I legitimately get chased down by mid 70 speed players w/ Zaha who is at or around a 90. I realize they can't allow me to just do a lobbed through ball to him for 10 goals a game but when I say it never works, I mean it literally has NEVER worked for me. That's why I was asking if it's something w/ my switch semi assist bc when it switches to whoever is the taerget all momentum is stopped wheteher they fully stop or stutter step. The other issue I've had w/ the current DP is when I play a perfect through ball on a 3v2 or 2v1 situation, the reciever takes a really bad angle to get the ball closer to the touch line rather than stay on course and receiver it closer to the goaltender. I'll hit R1 R2 to Super cancel and that stutter step or time it takes for the game to switch me and then activte the super cancel, the ball ends up out of bounds. You're light years ahead of me but just please realize I've played over 400 games of PES in the last two years and I am at least a novice when it comes to the game. Again, I get what you're saying but what I'm saying is your gameplay is incredibly different than my experience and I feel like it has to be something I have set weird. No delay for your SC and extreme delay for my SC to take affect.
@@SpoonyPizzas I’ve got a perfect example 30 sec video but it won’t let me attach a file. It’s a video of Barkley running full speed and instead of him receiving a pass that will lead to a 2 on 1 in the box, he goes from 100% sprint/effort to a 30% speed just to make sure I don’t get a 2 goal lead. It’s unreal and unmistakable. He almost walks instead of running for it when I try the super cancel.

I'm from a fifa background and recently started pes... so I play pes with the "alternative" controls which are basically fifa buttons... whats cancel for me?
