I've been collecting since the early 70's. I don't have any kids and I became friends with a guy about 13 years ago, who doesn't collect anything.y entire collection is already in my will, and is going to him. I just told him this last year. He's overwhelmed and can't fathom it all. I introduced him to a guy at the card shop and I told him that he will help you after I pass. I told him not to worry about sentimental value but I do have cards that mean Alot to me. I said just don't forget about me from time to time
That's amazing.
I've seen collectors on trading groups having deals with other traders in case one of them dies, avoids the hassle of kids having to sell things and I would guess it would be easier coming to a fair price. My collection is not nearly as expensive but I don't have an exit plan yet.

Best shoes in your collection. Let’s hear it. Shoes are great to collect and for wearing. Can’t knock anyone who paid for something. What they do or don’t do with something is up to them. It’s like ppl that question others who get cards, games, toys, comics graded. Keep them clean and dead stock or not it’s all good. I got pairs I never wear, some I do.

Well turns out a lot of the autos heritage is leary of. The authenticators of some might be fakes. But the upper deck ones look good.

I think that those shoes will fetch about 18,000-24,000. 60 pairs at 300-400/pair. That’s where the money is in this collection. His uncle was smart to buy them in Japan. - Limited styles and much cheaper to purchase over there. Cool episode and may his Uncle rest in peace.
He will end up getting more on average of 200 a pair I’m sure unless he has a way to sell direct to the end buyer with no fees or middlemen

Yeah I did and you let heritage auctions step in because it wasn’t what you deal with, why even air this episode. Again no cards in this awful episode was chased.

Not really, I have been collecting the Jordan’s reproductions that came out in 2008. Unlike the ones that come out now, the ones issued back then are almost identical to the originals as Nike took the time to make them as authentic as possible. Now they reproduce the Jordan’s by the millions and they don’t look anything like the originals. A lot of the shoes that guy collected were strictly that, collectors items not to be worn and issued fairly recently. That’s why the values are depressed compared to what people think they should be.
That mantle auto isnt real. I can tell in 2 seconds from seeing it.

Ty, just an FYI, those are definitely not the size you want to collect for maximum value. To maximize value on sneakers, you want to appeal to the more mature collector, and they’re more likely to want size 11-12-13+. Size 9 is more for a high school kid, and they can’t afford $400+ sneakers.
They can't but parents can. I have teenagers and I can tell you 400$ for shoes is definitely more common in that age group then you would think. I've seen kids wearing 400$ shoes many times .
