Paintballs are fired at 13-15 joules and Airsoft is about 1-5 so it's a massive difference

I think it honestly depends where you get hit. If you're hit somewhere like the face or...you're genetals, it can hurt really badly no matter what you get hit with, though generally I do feel like paintball hurts a more most of the time

Last time I played paintball we played with a bachelor party with rental guns I remember thinking these don’t hurt as much as I remember. Then some regulars showed up in the afternoon. I saw them all calibrate their ball speed with the ref, when he turned his back they all just crank the fps back up. I was in major pain the rest of the afternoon

Airsoft stings for 10 seconds and then goes away, paintball whacks you for a few seconds and then goes away until the next day, where you wake up feeling like you were just hit by a truck

Once a few years ago, I got hit in the hip from a paintball gun from around 5-10 feet away and I had a bruise for a couple weeks. Now I always put on extra layers of clothing every time I go paintballing.

I remember when I was playing paintball, just after I got shot at by an enemy and was raising my gun to show I was out, some other idiot sniped me 17 times and all the balls bounced off my head and DIDN’T BURST on landing! Even with a helmet the pain was so bad! and even worse the guy didn’t get in trouble for shooting someone who was out! I ended up shooting back and all 32 balls bounced off his head too (he wasn’t wearing a helmet), and I could tell the pain was bad because he began running around screaming and ran into someone else on his team.

A 1 joule needle will hurt more than a 5 joule bowling ball. It depends on where you are hit and what the velocity of the projectiles are (obviously).

Airsoft has to use less pressure to move farther and more accurately than paintball due to it using bbs and paintball needs more power to shoot farther so when I tested it (my friends unloaded on me my airsoft then my paintball) paintball tended to hurt more than airsoft.

It depends for paintball because if it’s really cold sometimes the paint balls don’t even pop and it hurts, if it’s hot it pops easier so it’s not as bad but in hot or cold it stills hurts. When you first start playing paint ball it hurts pretty bad the first few times you get hit, but after you get used to it, it’s not that bad

It's fairly simple to work out a airsoft rifle shooting at 300fps creates between .9 to 1.3 joules of energy a paintball marker shooting at 300fps creates between 15 to 17 joules of energy if both are shot at you at 10feet the paintball marker will leave you with a huge welt bruise and possible broken skin and that is through clothing airsoft at 10 feet will sting and leave a small red mark through clothing

I gotta go with paintball. As long as you’re wearing some kind of clothing a BB might sting for a second but it definitely won’t leave a mark unless the gun is way over clocked. But unless you’re wearing some hard protection or thick material you’ll go home with bruises.

Paintballs are usually a bigger projectile. I’ve been use to paintballs hitting me but they still hurt even if they don’t explode. But because of the size it can sometimes be more painful. For example getting shot in the ear by a paintball is the worst (yes I have) and I imagine with a airsoft gun it hurts less but will still hurts a lot. I’m not trying to say one hurts more then the other but in certain situations paintballs can hurt more.
