- The question of the ages: what does CR-V actually mean? Just as important though is, what does the 2023 Honda CR-V bring to the growing SUV game? The new 2023 Honda CR-V brings much of the same for Honda drivers, but with the added updates from similar vehicles, the Honda HRV and Honda Civic. The CR-V is one of the best selling SUV's on the market, and we want to know if the 2023 has what it takes to stay relevant amidst all their changes. There is a lot to like about the new Honda CR-V, including, for the first time in North America, a Hybrid Touring model. There are a lot of great features in the CR-V as well like standard remote start, push start, Apple CarPlay, road sign recognition, to name only a few. With these standard features, it can be tricky to keep the entry level trim at an affordable price. This week Brad and Jared will dive into these questions and more as we try to help viewers understand the SUV market a little more and what its newest contender, the 2023 Honda CR-V, has to offer them.

Love the way you guys are presenting your videos, finally there is something different then everybody else.....cant wait for the next one..in the meantime i am going to test drive the CR-V....
We are so glad you found us! We really appreciate the kind comment and hope this video gave you some insight into the CRV but was equally as entertaining. Best of luck with the test drive. Let us know what you think. :)
I just got my new 2023 CRV-V 1.5T AWD last month. White trim. I love it.
EXL
Congratulations!!!! Was the CRV the clear winner or was it up against some other vehicles on the market? We would be curious as to what made you decide on it. Thanks so much.
Clear winner. I traded my 2020 CRV with 2500 miles. I wanted white and leather. I love Honda. I have owned many of them, Toyotas, and two Mercedes. The Hondas and Toyotas are by far the best.
Thanks for sharing mate.
Just got my 2023 Honda CRV EX today. I love it. Sold my 2019 Honda CRV EX which was a great car too. Just wanted a new generation model. Still learning about the features but I will have this one for a long time. Thanks Honda and thanks for your video.
And thank YOU for watching Shirley. Hopefully you were able to take something away from our video. We absolutely loved the CRV and know that you will too. Thanks for saying hello. Have a fantastic weekend.
Mine shipped last week and can't wait to get it! Replacing my 2004 Accord with 247,000 miles.
Keep it in the Honda family.
So new body style with the same engine 😖
Now this is a great review 👏
Thank you so much. We appreciate the support and are so glad you enjoyed our video.
I feel like with Honda you know exactly what you are getting. A nice reliable automobile. And just like The Barenaked Ladies produced hit after hit for decades so does Honda with the CRV.
Haha. Love the Canadian shout out. Great band! As always, thanks for watching. Keep on singing!
If I had a million dollars...I'd buy you a CRV. Not a K car.
Just one?
I love the fact the CR-V are built in Canada. It looks good and I like the idea of the hybrid. This time around I would have liked to see the hybrid fuel mileage surpass the RAV4. I have owned many Honda's over the years and would consider myself loyal to the brand. I think not having a panoramic sunroof was an oversight at least on the two upper trims. They offer the panoramic sunroof in other markets on the new CR-V which is disappointing to us Canadians where it is built here.
Steve, thank you so much for sharing. Some great points you added. Our question though, our of all the Hondas you have owned, which has been your favourite?
Thanks for watching. We appreciate the support
@@HoodSlappersOfficial I liked our 2014 Honda Pilot the most. We sold it and bought a 2019 Honda Civic which was fine at first. But my boys are now both 6ft tall so the Civic is a little small now and prefer taking the truck. We owned a 2007,1997 Accord and 2007, 2003 MDX as well in the Honda/Acura family.
Gorblimey! You are definitely a Honda family. Kids though eh, they just don’t stop growing. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though. It lets you change cars more often. Are you looking forward to the new Accord and Pilot. This is a big year for Honda. It’s like 2016 all over again.
Problem is I would only buy the one not made in Canada for this price…because it comes with a panoramic sunroof.
these guys deserve more subs!
Thank you so much. We never thought we would make a thousand and here we are. It’s nice to see support and growth.
Have a great weekend and thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Love is watching Hood Slappers eating Salt and Vinegar Chips.😁
You are living the dream!!!! Haha. The best of both worlds right there. :). Thanks for watching.
Love my Hybrid CRV-Sport!
A Hybrid Sport? Nice. We don’t have that model in Canada, only the Touring Hybrid. So, we are a bit jealous. :) Enjoy your sweet ride and thanks for watching Asia.
une Belle voiture avec bon moteure Nice car
Great engine indeed. Thanks for watching. Merci. :)
OMG These dudes are the best!!! Hoodslappers!!!
Haha. Thanks so much. We really appreciate the kind words. Have a great week!
I haven’t researched prices but the CR V looks a lot better than the HR V and has more room. My only concern is the lack of access to the trunk in the hybrid trim and no spare tire. Have all the complaints about the oil dilution with the 1.5 litre engine been solved? Thanks
Great insight! Thanks for sharing. If size and space is your wheel house, the CR-V is the way to go. It's remarkable how the interior grows so much, but the exterior doesn't grow at the same pace. In talking with Honda, the proper recalls have been completed and the oil/fuel dilution issue has been solved. No car is perfect, but it appears the majority of this issue is solved.
Thanks for watching!
@@HoodSlappersOfficial Thanks!
hi guys i have a question if that is not a secret, what kind of wheels this specific car has and where can you purchase those....i like them a lot
Hey thanks for the question. They do look nice on the CRV. Much better than the plastic hub caps.
Those exact rims are for sale, used obviously. $100.00 each plus tax and they can be yours. They are from a company called RWC. They make high grade OEM fitment alloy wheels that are perfect fit. No extra hardware or spacer rings required. They are presently located at Cambridge Centre Honda in Cambridge Ontario, Canada. Those prices are Canadian and taxes are Ontario taxes.
Give them a call any time!

Any time mate. Happy to help.
Love this funny review
Jey Screen Share, thank you so much. You enjoying our review makes it all worth the while. You and viewers like you are the reason we do this.
Thanks so much.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial already subscribed. And shared ya video. Thank you for all this work you put in.
Thank you so much. We can’t even begin to tell you how much that means.
I just got back from looking at a EXL. 37k plus dealer markup. if you have a 20- 22 model with low mileage don't bother. it seems cheap compared to the last gen overall. the 2 hybrid models seem like a better choice but the markup is extreme and Honda is not making enough
Wow! How much dealer mark up was there? Here in Canada it’s illegal for dealers to mark their cars up. We have heard a few stories from our neighbours south of us. It’s a nice SUV though. Too bad they do that
@@HoodSlappersOfficial Depending on the dealer they slap $1,600 or so worth of accessories plus 600 dealer handling on top of msrp. Mandated whether you order or buy on the lot.
Man, that is terrible. Sorry to hear that. If anyone is going to slap a vehicle, it’s going to be us. We hope you find exactly what you’re looking for. Maybe shop around at other Honda stores. See what they are doing.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial The Land Rover dealer in London has no problem slapping a $15,000 'market adjustment ' on top of msrp. I questioned it if that was legal. They claimed it was.
$15,000?!? Is that London Ontario?
There is no 2023 CRV LX trim level, at least not for the USA.
Hey thanks for watching. Another difference between Canada and the USA. Here we have an LX trim level but no EX. We just had to be different I guess. :) We appreciate you checking out our channel.
Now there is
@agustindelgado1218 the people have spoken. They want their LX in the States. In Canada, we have the LX, but no EX.
does this black color comes in metallic ?
Mohamed, thanks for watching. The black colour is more of a pearl rather than a metallic. You’ll see a bit of shine but less than their polished metal metallic.
I hope this helps
@@HoodSlappersOfficial yes u mean the black pearl has some metallic but it not as rich as the other metallic colors like lunar silver metallic , canyon river blue metallic , etc .. Right ?
Basically. It just won’t glisten in the sun as much as something metallic. But it still looks amazing.
It’s a near perfect SUV. I just wish it was a PHEV! It would be a license to print money.
You never know. At least Honda brought out a Hybrid. That keeps things interesting. Thanks for watching.
Do you think it’s better than the HRV 23 or 24 model
Great question. It really depends on what you want/need. If you need to tow then CRV. The HRV seems to be geared towards very small families and pensioners. Whereas the CRV does everything the HRV can do but more. Personally, if it’s in the budget, the tried tested and true CRV is the way to go. I’m our humble opinion.
Thanks for watching.
So which is better RAV4 or CRV 2023?
Both are great! The CR-V does have a bit of an edge being a newer model, but the RAV4 has more hybrid options. So, it comes down to which you prefer. You can’t go wrong with either.
Thanks for watching.
Nice SUV but just like the HRV, Honda has overpriced these cars like crazy! I really think there are better options out there for the money. It’s a shame.
You do get a lot for the entry level CRV and HRV, but at what cost right. What SUV would you recommend?
@@HoodSlappersOfficial Personally , I fell for the 2023 Kia Sportage for value and smooth ride and the features. (Kia wasn’t even on my list.) Reliability, questionable, but I had a 2011 Tucson that gave me zero issues .
The Rav 4 is ok for price value but the excitement factor was low and the interior and kinda lacked. I’m feeling like they are selling cars based on their reputation from the past and not really pushing forward like they used to.
( I was sure Toyota was for me)
I really liked the Subaru Crosstrek but that is a sub compact, but the Forester and Outback have some really good features. CVT transmission is a little scary for me so I avoided it for now.
Biggest problem with Toyota , Subaru and Honda is product availability right now. It’s tough!
We loved the 23 Sportage. That’s another example of great features at lower trim levels. It looks good too. Can’t say you made a wrong choice. Kia is designing some amazing looking vehicles. We though the Sportage had the most comfortable head rests we have ever seen. Unreal.
Thanks for commenting. We appreciate it.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial thank you for making these videos, so nice to see some local guys doing these reviews!
You’re too kind. As long as people enjoy them, we will continue to make them.
...it's not playing catch up, its interior has a million times better ergonomics than brands which try to market the glitz of big screens for everything (and consequently crap ergonomics) - be smarter about this please
Anton, thank you so much for watching. We appreciate you taking the time to comment as well. We love the CR-V. Brad was just saying that the CR-V seemed to be lacking in terms of what the interior looked like. Keep in mind, we were in the LX 2WD. Brad was quickly corrected as the Hybrid Touring is out of this world. Ergonomics were not mentioned, but everything seemed in place.
Thanks for reaching out. We love the passion. The CR-V is a great vehicle.
Ergonomics are subjective, as is style.
Thanks for watching.
There is no LX entry level, at least not in the US.
Mark, thanks for watching. You are absolutely right. The LX is no longer in the US. It lives to see another day in Canada. Instead, we have no EX. Thanks for watching
Seems that active young people get Subarus but people who have to get to work in all weather get Hondas
We defiantly don’t know much about being active. Ha. We do know the CRV is pretty sweet though.
If you want more then get the RDX
We love the RDX. We had a chance to review it for 2022.
Compact Recreational Vehicle *
We are pretty sure the “V” stands for vegetable. Thanks so much for watching.
Talk to the Honda techs/mechanics about the 1.5 then get back to us...
Great talking point. We did our research prior with a Platinum Honda Technician and were told the update fixed the oil issue three years ago and since they hadn’t seen any further issues. Thanks for watching.
