    In this video I send off a full tank of gas until it is completely empty. Once and for all, we FZ6 riders will know with certainty how far one can go on F-Trip. I hope this brings you some comfort because filming this episode brought me a lot of anxiety haha.

    Just what I was looking for - thanks Calvin! I've been getting about 290-300km before the F-trip comes on. And for me it seems like there's probably about 4 litres still in the tank so 350km might be possible.

      I managed to almost completely dry out the tank after around 360km. I do not recommend it though, because having your bike not react to the throttle due to lack of gas can be a bit frightening :p. Most of the distance was driving on a highway around 120-130kmh. If I remember correctly I filled up about 18.8 liters on the gas station after I barely got to it :p.

    I was told you don't want to run too deep into F because the fuel acts as a lubricant for the pump in the tank. When it is ran dry or very low the gas isn't there.

      I go back and forth on this idea. Part of me thinks it’ll be fine because it was starved for a short time. Other part of me worries 😬 I’ve run car fuel pumps momentarily before without fuel and they’ve been fine... I’ll hope for the best.

    Fuel milage really depend on the air temp as well. I sometimes get 5,2liters/100km, but in Winter it goes as high as 6,8l

    So I was watching all your FZ6 videos but because of an opportunity I actually buyed a FZ1S... So I was a bit terrified of it for a week (first "big bike") but now i'm getting used to it, I did a trip, 90% hypermilling it on full tank maybe 16~18L just to see what is the range, I didn't know about the F-trip at the time but yeah I reached my destination with F-trip on and if I remember right around 20km on F-trip, at the time I didn't really know what was that F-trip, so the whole trip was around 270km most of it was freeway (speed between 80~110 km/h), some 40km of mountain roads and around 15 km of city riding, I was pretty surprised with the range, I would say the FZ1 can do 300 km on a full tank if hypermilling it. I imagine the FZ6 can do even better ranges. That said... on city the FZ1 just drinks and drinks when idling on the stop lights... it also gets pretty hot I would say in city riding probably gets around 150km a tank, after nightmares with my old bike having rust on the fuel tank, if I see my bike is half full, I just go to the gas station and fill the tank.

    Curious. According to my records, my '05 FZ6 takes, on average, 15l (~4gal) to fill from F and gets 21km/l (~49mpg), for an average range of 315km before I get a fuel light. @5:00 is mention 315km to a full tank is extraordinary. My manual says I have a 19.4l (5.13gal) tank, so 403km/251mi average range. Do the American bikes have larger tanks?

    • @RyanogIsaac
      @RyanogIsaac Před 2 lety +1

      I have the same experience. According to the manual 3,4 L is left in the tank when F-trip starts flashing. This is in line with Calvin MC and around 69 km also on my bike (´07 FZ6 s2, around 20 Km/L, European). If I fill up the fuel tank exactly when the flashing starts it takes 12 L at the top. This adds up to a tank size of around 15,4 L. But the manual says 19,4! Did Yamaha put a smaller tank on our bikes and forget to correct the manual? Or maybee I should try the same as @MC Calvin. Run the tank dry in order to see if the reserve tank is 7,4 L instead of 3,4. Or maybee @MC Calvin did count the gallons on his bike?

    • @RyanogIsaac
      @RyanogIsaac Před 2 lety

      The hidden 4L!!! A little research resulted in a kind of answer. The size of the tank is 19.4L . That includes reserve amount of ~3.6L. But if you have a center stand and "tip" the bike forward it is possible to fill up the tank totally. At least that is what people say. That remains to be seen and I will definitely try. 4L is an extra 80 km!
