- There are only a handful of Trad climbs in the world with climbing as difficult as 8c or 5.14b... this is one of them! Robbie Phillips found this rock climb in the Scottish highlands after the first lockdown, but wasn't strong enough... After another winter of lockdown training for climbing on his home climb wall, he prepared himself for the project!
This is a film about climbing... but also it's a glimpse into our humanity, and what it takes to find yourself again when it feels like you've lost it all. This is a story of passion, loss, obsession, desolation and recovery. Follow Robbie on his quest to climb his hardest project, and what he has to overcome along the way.
Robbie Phillips is a pro climber, climbing coach and CZcamsr from Scotland. Follow him on ridiculous climbing adventures, from van life and travelling to wild places like Yosemite and Patagonia, to indoor climbing training in the climbing gym. All craic, no crap - it’s just pure unadulterated climbing! - Sport
Fantastic video, climb and journey Robbie, best on the channel by miles. Well done to all involved.
I think my favourite moment was actually when you toproped it clean for the first time 😅
Have a good winter, catch you soon 🤙
Thanks Pete. That was my favourite as well… it was the happiest moment of the process, realising it was possible for me, but I still had the lead to look forward to. The end success was amazing, but it was also the end of the journey and made me a little sad
Special thanks to:

I’m so glad I waited to watch this until I could focus 100% of my attention on it because I knew it was going to be good. Congratulations on not only the climb, but on this film, it’s beautiful. As creators, I think the best thing we can do is make work that blurs the line between a “smash the like button video” and something that really matters. This adds to that goal. 🤘
Thanks Courtney :)
Rewatching this after listening to the Nugget Climbing podcast, puts the dots togeter! Love i!
Glad you enjoyed it
A beautiful film, your Dad would be proud
Wow Robbie, that was the crag of my teenage years and back in the 70's when were doing new E1's I looked at that wall in awe. Special place, special route and a good heartfelt film .
This is next level in quality!
R.I.P Mr. Phillips
Brilliant film friend! Everything that went into, all of yourself, beautiful.
Beautiful poetry and writing 🙏
“Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.” Couldn’t help but think of that line watching this great film Robbie.
Wow, fantastic video. That time was so rough for a lot of people. Losing loved ones around that period must have been so tough. That climb looked insane, amazing watch
Humbling… respect...
this is what a climbing film should be. love it Robbie!
Great climb, and movie. I am sorry for your loss and I am glad that you could climb a bit out of the shadows.
Robbie, really appreciate you working with Dave in this video. Also I really enjoyed you both dropping the videos at the same time. I'm still climbing 5.11's but you're an encouragement to me. As a pastor and counselor, it made me really sad to hear the news of your dad passing. Thank you though, for not hiding in the shadows, but sharing your story. I appreciate you, your work and dedication to the sport, and to your father.
Thanks Joseph. Yeau we both made our videos separately. I didn’t see his until last night 🙂 They compliment each other nicely
Beautiful and touching video Robbie. Loved hearing the story behind the climbs name.
"How could this new fragile me, overcome the challenges that I couldn't before?" Ooof, encapsulates my last two years in a nutshell. Beautiful, well done.
