Donna Summer "State of Independence"
Donna Summer covered Jon Anderson & Vangelis State of Independence on her 1982 album Donna Summer produced by Quincy Jones. Summers version of the song features an all-star choir including among others Michael Jackson, Brenda Russell, James Ingram, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Loggins, Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder. It reached Number 14 in Britain and 41 in the US. Quincy Jones, who produced it, later claimed that it was the inspiration for the USA for Africa collaboration two years later.
Who's here because of the Quincy Jones article?
Absolutely beautiful. 2024 anyone?
Quincy should be ashamed of himself. MJ was always saying nice things about him long after they stopped working together. All Quincy seems to do now is disrespect MJ . It is very low of him no matter what happened between them.
Who's here because they like this song?
She was killed by the usual suspects on 11th September 2001...................Nope, not the 'Islamists'.....RIP you beautiful person.
This doesn’t sound like Billie Jean..😂😂😂 y’all crazy..
Who’s here because the Quincy Jones interview?
The voices that are this tracks backing vocals blow my mind. Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Dionne Warwick, Brenda Russell, Christopher Cross, Dyan Cannon, James Ingram, and Kenny Loggins 🤯🤯the 80's were a totally different animal compared to todays music.
Industry on HBO Max brought me here
the inspiration for billie jean..
Her best, and most underrated song.
40 years old this year. And still great.
This song always made me cry. The first time I heard this song was in my childhood. I still love this song. RIP Dona
The way Donna sung...she made it seem effortless. Such a pure voice.
