Jake outside of an ad? Instant like.
I agree but any corridor video gets an instant like with or without Jake

bro, the bongos are literally right there.
That root that he gave to everyone a long time ago.
Jake is the best outside of an ad, change my mind. His serious stuff is just so awesome.
No need to change your mind. we are in full agreement
Jake is just best always
you want me to change your mind ? ok
he's probably just looking nice to make you click and in reality, it's all comercial
i also saw him torturing guinea pigs
I think he's annoying in an ad, thought I didn't like him, but outside if the ads, he's great. I think I just don't like ads.
I agree 100% with you
Its crazy to think that CZcams takes copyrighted stuff more strictly on normal videos than on ADS (under their own platform with all the copyright algorithms and shit)! Its even sadder because some channels use small clips/soundbites of whatever (under fair use) and they literally get a strike without question!
Edit: Good on Lucid Dreams to take down the video they used from Corridor without permission. And I like what Niko said about 'mob justice', it just escalates the whole situation and it goes nowhere. Its about the platform, Corridor shouldn't have to manually scan through the internet stopping people from using their stuff without permission. It's such a double standard when this issue is applied to many content creators, when ads like this are rampant everywhere.
it's simple, CZcams doesn't care because they get paid for those ads
You should watch Tom Scott's video on this. It's really helpful to understanding this whole mess :)
czcams.com/video/1Jwo5qc78QU/video.html
maybe the see videos on their platform as their property, so they can do whatever they want with it
Dont give lucid any credit, they knew what they were doing. Where is the monetary compensation?
Taking money (ads) instead of giving it (creators).
Simple.
I loved seeing Jake just be himself. Not as an ad. Legit made me feel warm inside. Love you jake
yeah its sad to say but i really feel like him being the sponsor guy really subtracted a lot of his character on the channel (maybe split the sponsor stuff among everyone?)
@@poeticallusions44 Yeah, I agree. I wish the sponsors guy could be someone else
@@poeticallusions44 I agree, i just think that it ended up being like this because jake will be the one doing all the communication with the sponsors, so it is super easy for him to do it. he doesnt have to explain anything to anyone else, he can literally just get up from his desk after an email discussion and do it.
Lol jake is the biggest human garbage There is. He is such a bad person in my eyes. Look at what he has done. They have an audience more then millions and they manipulate you the hole Video by saying ,, this so bad and evil and we cant do anything about it"and they act so depressed. Because of what a 14 year old Made a minecraft app so people can Download Mods for minecraft and he used There fotage. The people Coridor digital are filthy rich. They probably make 200 Tausand Dollars a month. Merch patrion sponsers ads and 100 tausand Dollar contracts. But they act devistated when someone makes 100 bucks out of There video. And then jake Makes There WHOLE audience attack This guy. What is wholesome about taht. And dont act like by saying ,,hate Mobs or not good" changed something. Its the Internet they will still do it. But they manipulated There way out of the blame. Because he sayd ,,i dont like hate Mobs" but After taht he still was like but if you want to do so we cant stop you. Its a pathetic way to make youre audience attack them but stay out of the blame. Because of what man. A guy making 100 bucks out of that. Probably a 14 year old Boy in Taiwan Who just likes Minecraft. And they are portraying him as evil the WHOLE video. For what because we dont want to get scammed by the Big companys. The companys litteraly rip us gamers off. Skins and Mods and where free but on mobile and xbox they sell every skinpack and modpack and Texture pack for money. Even the Original creators of These brought them up for free for everyone to use. But out of greed they put a Paywall in it. isnt taht stealing too. They had a creator and they just Took it 1 By 1 and they selling it now. And the creators never saw money. But the people Who stole it get it.
Lightfire LP Man, you invest a long time into being a moron don't you?
I love how the moral of the story is that just sending a polite letter in which you explain the situation can be enough to solve the problem, instead of immediately pulling out the big guns.
Wait, Jake is an actual attorney? I thought that was a joke. Well color: fill me impressed.
Yeah. He's a licensed attorney in LA. He passed the BAR on first try.
i also thought the same thing dude 😅
That's one of his job titles there I'm Pretty sure. He takes care of legal things, but his daily job is producing and whatnot. He kinda just does everything there.
Lionel Hutz was also an attorney, it's not a high bar.
CaptainMcSmoky what
7:42 That was the cleanest transition i've ever seen
Sorry to hear about this, I've had it happen to numerous videos I've done and people don't realise how much it hurts your channel. Hope you get this sorted.
Two things:
- Lucid masks may not have known that the clip even came from your video. They may have contracted out someone to make an ad for them. Not trying to defend them, just sayin' that is possibility.
- If you demand content id to be more stricter it could backfire for corridor digital and other creators. I don't know if you've seen Tom Scott's video on copyright, but I'm just gonna quote the title of the video: "CZcams's Copyright System Isn't Broken. The World's Is."
Also if you haven't seen Tom's video you really should.
If I remember correctly Tom only refers to the copyright system on videos, not ads. There is currently no way to report an ad for copyright and they don't get reviewed like videos do; that's a major problem.
Also yes, watch Tom Scott's video(s) if you haven't, he makes fantastic content.
There's no way this wouldn't get flagged by the copyright algorithms. They don't even need stricter copy right just apply it to ads
That video explains why CZcams is forced to implement the system it does not why stricter enforcement would be harmful. Stricter enforcement would and MUST consider Fair Use. If there was a system capable of enforcing the law 100% then there would be no issues.
See below for detail and explanation \/
--------------------------------------------------------------
It is the inability of the system to enforce all aspects of the law that created the issues. It would only be able to flag claim or remove videos that violate the law. A Fair Use does not violate the law. A licenced use does not violate the law. The fact that the system flags claims and removes licenced works is where you can see the issue at its most broken as there is no matter of law no matter of fact nothing ambiguous about the use. Fair Use is a complex and nuanced legal situation no one is able to just look at a work and tell if it is a Fair Use or not it requires a Judge as a finder of Law to affirm it and even that is hit or miss. If Judges the people we entrust with the power to interpret the law have issues with it the its not something that can just be put down in a few lines of code. CZcams is forced to err on the side of caution and that is what has resulted in the claim system. CZcams just lets the owner and you know of the conflict the system is in and the owner gets first crack you get to respond and then if the owner wants to move further then they must take it beyond what CZcams is capable of and take it to the courts. They must file a DMCA claim at that point and thus bring the legal system into it. This is how CZcams maintains its "safe harbor" status. They try to give you and the owner a means to resolve the issue before it becomes a legal issue. The issue is that defending against a copyright claim has become so expansive and even if you are in the right a owner with enough money can drag litigation on for a very long time. There needs to be a smaller cheaper easier process to review such cases. A government website where both sides submit the relevant information and the work in dispute and a judge makes a determination. Most of these cases would be thrown out as we have seen when they are defended against. The issue is with the courts and the cost involved not the law necessarily (although 70 years plus the life of the author is far to long the law itself is sound)
@@WillisPtheone Not quite. The claimant has all the power on CZcams. The video is taken down, or all the ad revenue is diverted, before the defendant is even notified. It's up to the defendant to "take it to the courts" but rarely are they able/willing. In most cases, they have to contest the claim, and hope the claimant retracts the claim. But it doesn't seem to revert the ad revenue lost during that time. The issue is somewhat with the enforcement, in that YT doesn't review any of the claims; action is just automatically taken. However, many of these problems arise by the claimant misusing the content ID system, against YT's guidelines. They explicitly state not to use gameplay footage, or nonexclusive 3rd party licenses. But many channels just enter all of their content into the system, then ask for forgiveness after a mistake is made. Here are a couple examples. The 2nd video has some "vulgar" content so be warned.
czcams.com/video/mXughXH7YTc/video.html
czcams.com/video/dwp881tK6IA/video.html
If it was something that a contractor had done for them, they probably would've said so. As it stands, their argument is basically "we didn't intend to steal your video when we deliberately stole your video". In other words, they did it because they knew that they would either get away with it, or there would be no penalties if they didn't.
You guys should look at the Norwegian mockumentary, Trollhunter. It has some pretty good VFX shots considering it’s from 2010.

glad you guys are bringing attention to this stuff, this kind of thing happens across all platforms all the time and its even more difficult to stop someone if you don't have a following. I don't even have 600 followers on instagram and i've had to message accounts who re-uploaded my artwork and slightly adjusted it...people are shady
I don't know who glitchcube is but they are the real OG MVP for this channel they have been a top tier patron for so long it's awesome. As a viewer I have to thank you, because if it wasn't for you and other patrons I wouldn't be able to watch these awesome videos, none of us would be able to, so thank you! Hopefully you see this.
Google/CZcams and Facebook still get paid for fake/stolen ads. That's part of the problem. They have a direct financial incentive to *not* notice and *not* do anything about it unless heavily legally challenged with aggressive lawsuits. And even then, they have more lawyers and more money than almost anyone else who would try to come after them, right or wrong. It sucks.
I remember wren having a similar problem with an Instagram ad. Did that ever get resolved?
Yes,yes it did.
I’ve had photos stolen from Facebook by an Italian dance group back in 2006. I remember emailing them and their response was “It’s on Facebook, therefore no copyright”. Despite me stating I give them no permission to use my work they just responded “Thank you for letting us use them. :-D”, which was irksome because I couldn’t even afford a lawyer to fix this. It’s been a long time now and I think they’ve moved onto other pictures, but it really does suck when people do this sort of thing. Glad that this company did, but such a headache that you guys had to balance out the options to fix this.
6:23 "Is there anything you can do about someone driving like a maniac on the freeway?" Call 911 comes to mind.
Lol calling 911 isn’t going to do shit
@@BC_E91 It absolutely will. They can dispatch the highway patrol to intercept that individual and pull them over. It's not an uncommon thing, just widely unknown.
I have had a situation with a crazy person on the highway and no, calling 911 did nothing for me. They just tell you to let them go by you. Kind of doesn't fix the problem when the psyco is trying to get in front of you to break hard and get you to rear end him.

FINALLY, I’ve missed Jake not being the sponsor guy, and just a member of The Corridor Crew
Just remember that he is a big part of the crew. Not only is he their best friend and their lawyer, but he does a lot of the planning, building/constructing, managing, and many more things. If Corridor Crew was a game, Jake would defiantly be the Support Class.
I normally see Jake and skip away because I know it's an ad, which I also understand is how they make money from their merch plugs and stuff. That said, this was my favorite Jake video by far, it really shows his morals and integrity within Corridor Digital. Rock on man!
I really appreciate you guys being real with us and giving us a behind the scenes scoop like this. As a person interested in media/content creation it gives me great perspective.
I love how dramatic every corridor crew intro is lol
7:43 that transition tho
Jake is somehow such an incredibly skilled person in so many areas. Manages a company, assists in video creation, excellent builder, and somehow is a lawyer on top of all that. And the best part is how he still comes off as such a relatable person. Go Jake
Best Crew video in a long time!
I have the same problem! My most viewed video just passed 100 million views, most of which were from pre-roll ads playing on youtube for a knock off app called "Line Driver". My "Beat Saber on a Budget" video was being used for that same minecraft mod ad as well. Glad to hear you got a response from the mask company, I have received no responses and have been unable to stop this so far. There needs to be a way to opt out of allowing videos to be used as ads.

So frustrating when companies dont even follow their own terms and conditions.... good luck guys.
This is what makes this channel one of the best on youtube. They create video opportunities out of anything that happens to them. From giving a tedtalk, to these legal issues, to their jobs as vfx artists. Love it! And fuck anyone who steals shit

It's good to see Jake back into his apex and it's a real blast into the past.
Hey Jake, I do not comment very often on videos on CZcams but I just wanted to say, that I really enjoy the videos where you talk about law. I study business law in Germany myself and I´m working on my master thesis at the moment. My focus in my bachelors was intellectual property and my bachelor thesis was about the new european copyright directive and espacially upload filters. So it´s very interesting, to hear somebody with practical knowledge from a different legal system to talk about these topics. Keep it up.

Yeah, I've had a couple videos go viral and the ones re-uploaded on Facebook always get crazy amounts of views, like way more than the ones I uploaded to CZcams ever got.
A "view" on Facebook means someone's scrolled passed it with autoplay. Doesn't mean they even watched it, hence why Facebook "views", are almost always higher

I sure had missed the energy that your office had before the epidemic. This video was really refreshing!
7:43 smooth transition
i've seen a couple of ads on youtube that where just straight up porn images, but masked from the image detection algorithm so that it won't get taken down... and you have no recourse as the platform user to flag an ad, so that an actual person can take a look at it...
First pause the video, or work really fast, and right click on the ad. Select copy debug info in the menu. Paste the debug info into notepad and look for ad_debug_videoId - this is the video id of the original ad. Take that id and then append it to youtube.com/watch?v= this will give you the ad in a standard youtube player where you can report it from there.

Funniest part is that they’re dropshipping. So the lucid dream mask they’re selling isn’t even theirs either it’s from aliexpress
When you get into any business (where manufacturing is involved) you'll quickly realize that there are only a handful of corporations that produce things. I was really surprised by this at first, but it then started to make more sense when I realized that most companies just design things and rarely manufacturer them.

Hey guys, first off I just wanted to say the work you guys do is actually insane. So, I thought you guys would be the perfect channel to pull this video idea off. I think it would be super cool to do a video of a chess game, but with like an actual battle field and real characters that are the same as the board pieces (kings, queens, bishops, etc.). Something along the lines of a medieval battle with crazy effects - with all of the moves being accurate to what can be actually be played within the game haha. @@Christopher_TG I think they're talking about the people stealing other's content and how dumb and stupid those people are for doing it
Now that everyone is a “content creator”, people take it more serious than the time when music companies faced the same issue and were portrayed as the “bad guys” when youtube was just an infant.
Jake this is a huge deal! Thank you for doing this video, good luck in Texas man.

This sounds like a horrible issue.
I once used a clip of yours from the Willy Wonka R Rated video you made in a video I made about Cloud Strife being a psychopath, because it was hilarious and I wanted to share it, but I made sure to give full credit in the description and comments, and not monetise the video. That should be the protocol, but people just seem to ignore the idea of even giving credit.
Just giving someone credit for something doesn't mean it's not copyright infringement. That's the big difference between copyright infringement and plagiarism. Plagiarism is using somebody else's ideas without giving them credit. Copyright infringement is using somebody else's copyrighted works without their permission in a manner that does not constitute fair use. Plagiarism is a violation of professional courtesy and ethics, but is not an illegal act. Copyright infringement is actually illegal and you can face lawsuits and statutory fines.
In that context it should be classified as fair use so you should be alright. The issue is that youtube seldom knows what it's own terms of service are as well as the law, and just does what it wants. They like to blame the algorithm when issues happen but there's a lot of times where that just doesn't seem possible. Even Corridor Crew's use of the Willy Wanka clips are fair use since they are transformative in nature.
@@sethmooseknuckle No, fair use is an affirmative defence. This actually means that you acknowledge you are infringing on someone's copyright, but believe your use falls under the Fair Use Doctrine. It also means you have not first asked permission from the copyright holder. Claiming Fair Use does not protect you from a copyright claim.
@@jchunick Nothing protects from a copyright claim. Fair use would certainly be useful in court though.

I think Vietnam is the most copyright lax country outside of China and is big on counterfeit products and these kind of small online scums. But it doesn't taint the general positive view of the country.
You know he's not saying all Vietnamese people do this right?
@@HelplessGazellle of course, he didn't imply that all Vietnamese does it nor all digital content thieves are Vietnamese but that's not my point. The point is there are lots, well at least more than some other countries. Trust me I'm in the 3D design industry and softwares, assets are being shared illegally all the time in the Vietnamese community.
@@LordKalte yeah Vietnam is just not strict about it that it starts to become normal, which is not a good thing. But yeah probably not more than India. I know there are lots of other countries who do this, but I'm trying to change that in my own community.
Wait is James Bailey of patron alright I didn’t hear his name
Probably just low on money so had to pause it
7:42 That transition was brilliant!
