I know so many military modelers that tell me that they don’t finish their kits and that they have multiple kits that are being worked on simultaneously and once in a while they actually complete a kit now and then. I’ve heard stories from some of the military modelers that they know other ones that don’t consider our hobby (Gunpla) as a real hobby. But yet I get lots of compliments from the military modelers that I know for the detail work that I do on my kits from seam line removal to painting my kits and panel lining accents, and the fact that I complete my model kits. So I guess it just depends on who you talk to, but I love all of the different talents of plastic models from Gunpla, model cars, military, sci-fi, resign, etc..... And I can learn a lot about modeling from each person and their specialities from painting, to adding polystyrene details or gap fillers, custom dioramas, etc...... It’s a great hobby and I have fun with it every weekend at my local Hobby Town.

And no criticism to modern kits, I love the color separation and articulation of modern model kits. But bad kits are so fun to build! Also, static display models, like resin statues are a ton of fun to, of course if you have the money and materials to paint them up a little bit.

For an old kit, the color separation is quite decent on this one. I have to disagree with the kit being "poorly designed" I'd say it is well designed. The dragoons are detachable, color separation is decent, that dragoon back pack being removable from the thruster back pack is a good design decision too. They could've given you a different back pack or not have that part separate from the dragoon pack, but they did anyway. It is unfair ranking old kits like you would on the later releases you could've cut it some more slack given it's age.

I agree. It’s like taking the vintage kits and comparing them to modern Gunpla. I think we should try looking at kits in both the time they were released in and in our current time. Comparing this to say, a WFM HG, isn’t really fair. The more and more Gunpla reviews I watch the more I notice that there’s not a perfect way to weigh and review Gunplas. I try not to buy kits based off of CZcams reviews anymore, I just get what I think looks cool. Holding myself to the standard that Gunpla reviewers have doesn’t make me enjoy Gunpla, for some reason I have more appreciation for crappy old kits, or stuff like Volks or Wave the Five Star Stories kits. They don’t have to be perfect out of box, it’s partly what you do as a builder that makes it unique and perfect in your eyes. Reviewers videos and blogs are helpful, but if there’s a kit you want that everyone thinks is awful, just buy it if you really want to.

Buster and Aegis are indeed two of the better one, because they do what the kit need to do, and the Color inaccuracy ain't THAT bad.
-Most of them still use old tech (Peg and polycap) so the posing isn't good
      -Color inaccuracy+Large sheet of sticker
-The discounted gimmick (Aegis and Buster at least can do what the suit can in the series)

@@Viper-jr4sp Yeah totally. Sure the kit is very bearbones and not engaging building wise.
But I think that MechaG misses, again, the bigger picture when it comes to the hobby : these are model kits first, and it is expected that you put in the work.
At least, it was expected back then. Sure now Bandai got so good at this that the frontier between kit and action figure is blurred.

The Moon Gundam has the early version of psycho frame and fin funnels, the Dreadnought Gundam has early prototype of N-Jammer Canceler, nuclear power ms, and Dragoon Sytem. The most critical aspect of them are in the head. Plus they both are in the same color scheme. Cmiiw.

This could have been a good opportunity for you to go above and beyond and teach your base about how to improve a kit like this that isn't "100% color accurate."
The amount of people in the hobby that either don't panel line, don't do any sanding or filing, don't do anything to really punch up their kits to the next level.
I've been watching this channel on and off for years - as it usually provides some good takes of what's good v what's bad. We know just looking at this that its "bad". The forearms and thighs are in desperate need of plastic cement / sanding. It's fine, I just want people in the hobby to not be so afraid of the next steps to make their kits really stand out.

First and fore most I have to say I completely disagree with you. When this kit came out I was pleased with something new and different form the Seed line that I got and made it. I never painted it but I did enjoyed its gimmick and all. I think I remember wishing this was a 1/100 scale at the time. Now I can see its not up the par with more recent High Grade kits these days, bandai has improved the overall quality and engineering of current kits with new molding technique so I can see this may be out dated or worst as you say.
However this is why I don't say its the worst kit. When it came out other like me was thrilled to see this and may have also enjoyed the assemble of this kit. I can image those builders who have more experiences building kits, may have thought it would be a challenge to get it looking right and had to do major modification to improve the parts. Yet looking back it did give me good memories and I know I am not alone.
Plastic model kits from bandai(and any other brands) have come a long way and we all had are ups and downs when making them but one think still remains. We all had fun building them and of course playing with them and it still going on today. One can say that the most current kit that came out now could be the best or worst kit 10 years from now but that will not stop us from making these kits, and enjoying them.
